Beau Monde Ratings and Reviews
Hi. I never do this, but I want the owner to know what my family and I experienced today:
We came as a party of 6 into Beau Monde at Noon. We have been countless times and love your food and ambiance. Today, the short haired female host was very cold when we walked in, which is not a big deal at all. Then, we ordered around 12:10. At 1:00 we realized it had been almost an hour and had not received anything except our drinks. No soups; no crepes. We asked the server and she simply said the kitchen was "a little behind." 1:10. 1:20. Still no food. Mind you, no manager came over at any point to check on us or apologize. As we got up at 1:48 to leave, the host came out with the crepes, looks at us and says, "frankly, the crepes came out in a reasonable amount of time." She then tried to start arguing with us. No empathy, no understanding, no customer service. She then said "well; I'll just take your food back into the kitchen" and we walked out.
This woman could not have been ruder to us. I'm disappointed because I love your restaurant, but I do not plan on ever coming back.
I've been coming to Beau Monde for close to 10 years now and they never, ever disappoint. I actually moved out of Philadelphia 6 years ago and still come to eat at Beau Monde when I'm in town. Great for brunch and dinner! On a cold winter day they even have the fireplace going!
We only have one minor complaint but it impacted our experience. Beau Monde has a charming, French atmosphere. However, they played heavy metal music which destroyed the atmosphere and made it difficult to converse. Ironically, the restaurant was not that crowded and most of the patrons sitting inside were older. So, I am assuming the music was for the benefit of the staff.
A friend and I went last Saturday night thinking the 'Underdogs' comedic group would be preforming. I got the date wrong so we stayed anyway. If you like crepes you'll be in heaven. I got the special which was a lump crab salad. It was delicious, although a bit light on the crab.
I really enjoyed my brunch meeting here. I arrived at 11AM and the restaurant was fairly empty (it filled up around 1PM). We got the escargot and the french cuisine lover in our group raved about them. The crepes are great - a lot of variety. I made my own and it was a lot less 'full' than my friends who ordered off the menu. Seemed a bit unfair but it was still delicious.
The crepes are always perfect and the options are endless. Everyone gets what they want and is happy. We enjoy going for special events like birthdays, Fathers / Mother's Day, etc. Service is always friendly, fun and accommodating. One of our favorite spots in the City!
This is my second time here. I went back because of how good the first time was. I might not go back based on the second time. Service was very slow and the place was not busy at all. Sitting outside we seemed to be the forgotten customers. It took almost 40 minutes to get crepes. I thought the point of crepes was quick and fast. Not this time. Mine came out lukewarm. Two breakfast crepes (one each), two coffees, two drinks, plus a tip was $100. Surely not even close to being worth that. So I think this may be my last visit. Too many other places to go with much better prices and value. This was a 50 - 60 dollar value for $100. I wont go back given all of the above as much as I genuinely enjoyed it the first time around.
