About Beatrix - Streeterville
Beatrix is a neighborhood restaurant, coffeehouse and meeting place located in Chicago’s Streeterville. Our chef partners Susan Weaver, Rita Dever and John Chiakulas have created a menu inspired by food made in Lettuce’s test kitchen.
Beatrix is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night offerings.
All pastries, breads and sweets are baked in house daily. Some of our favorites include Angel Food Cake Muffins, Honey Butter Cinnamon Rolls and Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Our coffee and tea program will showcase two iconic Chicago roasters, Intelligentsia and Metric.

Beatrix - Streeterville Ratings and Reviews
The service was super friendly and helpful. We had the hummus as an appetizer, and the risotto and turkey meatloaf for our meals. Everything was delicious. The sides (kale and mashed potatoes) were exceptional. Our server was great! He helped with our dinner choices, as well as our movie choices for the next day.
I had the mushroom risotto and it was served deconstructed, which to me defeats the purpose of cooking all of the wonderful flavors together. The rice was doused in truffle oil and the kale was uncooked and served on the side of the plate. It was one of the worst preparations I have ever had. The rest of the meal was good and well prepared and I have been there before and enjoyed other items.
My new favorite! We even found vegan options! With different eating styles all around in our party there was something for everyone. The handcrafted juices pre-meal were wonderful. Our server was ‘just right’. The Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts were to die for! (Spicy)
We will return often....
The roasted Brussels sprout appetizer was fantastic as usual and the chimchurri steak was again out of this world. The fries are outstanding...the service is, too. You feel very comfortable here, surrounded with a lot of really nice and friendly waitpersons.
Beatrix is my go-to restaurant. I love the Straight A salad and the White Queen Chardonnay. And of course, the caramel pie is life-changing. (I just wish the pastry chef would share the recipe with me.)
When possible, they always Make the effort to seat me at my favorite corner table by the window so I can enjoy the service of my favorite waiter, Lucas. He is a gem ... non-intrusive and very professional
It was our anniversary, which was mentioned in the notes. No acknowledgement of that at all. First they sat us at a cramped table next to the kitchen. Then upon request were moved, but to a table that literally had a 360 degree spinning top it was so loose and wobbly. Service was terrible. It’s like once we didn’t order cocktails, we were a automatically a waste of her time. I am a server myself - have been in casual fine dining for the last 10 years - if you are good at your job, you should treat everyone equally. We sat for over 10 minutes with our empty plates stacked with napkins on top and watched all servers, bussers and the manager walk right by. The food was mediocre at best. Unfortunately won’t be back.
Brunched at Beatrix before heading out to Michigan Avenue for a day of Christmas Shopping.
Enjoyed the energy, but the space is a little strange. The front of the house is on the east end, and there is a back door off of a building lobby on the west end. We were seated along this route, and continually had people walking by, taking a short cut through the building. We felt like we were seated in a hallway, rather than in a restaurant.
The food was very interesting and healthy. Ordering presented several choices and it was difficult to pick a winner. Everything we ordered was great. We appreciatee our waiter's recommendations, and we also liked the information that the main dishes do not come with accompaniments.
My wife ordered the Pot Roast and Egg sandwich. It was large, but must have been incredibly delicious. Not being a breakfast person, she normally only eats half of whatever she orders and wraps the rest. Not this time, she wolfed it all down and loved every bite.
I only wish the waiter was more attentive and filled my coffee before I finished my meal. One tiny cup with a steak and eggs order was about two cups too few. He finally arrived at the end of the meal and thought to bring the pot with him.
We are looking forward to returning so we can try several more menu items.
