About Beatrix - Streeterville

Beatrix is a neighborhood restaurant, coffeehouse and meeting place located in Chicago’s Streeterville. Our chef partners Susan Weaver, Rita Dever and John Chiakulas have created a menu inspired by food made in Lettuce’s test kitchen.

Beatrix is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night offerings.

All pastries, breads and sweets are baked in house daily. Some of our favorites include Angel Food Cake Muffins, Honey Butter Cinnamon Rolls and Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Our coffee and tea program will showcase two iconic Chicago roasters, Intelligentsia and Metric.

Our server, Brian was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great service. It was an enjoyable birthday brunch.

The service was super friendly and helpful. We had the hummus as an appetizer, and the risotto and turkey meatloaf for our meals. Everything was delicious. The sides (kale and mashed potatoes) were exceptional. Our server was great! He helped with our dinner choices, as well as our movie choices for the next day.

I had the mushroom risotto and it was served deconstructed, which to me defeats the purpose of cooking all of the wonderful flavors together. The rice was doused in truffle oil and the kale was uncooked and served on the side of the plate. It was one of the worst preparations I have ever had. The rest of the meal was good and well prepared and I have been there before and enjoyed other items.

I have eaten at Beatrix more times than I care to remember because of its proximity to Northwestern Hospital but the food is consistently good, the service excellent and I like the vibe.

This was an excellent find, just off Michigan Ave. The service was excellent. The dinner came out very hot and tasted excellent. I would definitely go to Beatrix again.

My new favorite! We even found vegan options! With different eating styles all around in our party there was something for everyone. The handcrafted juices pre-meal were wonderful. Our server was ‘just right’. The Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts were to die for! (Spicy)
We will return often....

The roasted Brussels sprout appetizer was fantastic as usual and the chimchurri steak was again out of this world. The fries are outstanding...the service is, too. You feel very comfortable here, surrounded with a lot of really nice and friendly waitpersons.

Great food, warm ambiance, service wonderful. Love the lunchtime hummus bar! We’ve been going to the other location since it opened, but like this location much better, so we’ve been 2x in one week.

Beatrix is my go-to restaurant. I love the Straight A salad and the White Queen Chardonnay. And of course, the caramel pie is life-changing. (I just wish the pastry chef would share the recipe with me.)

When possible, they always Make the effort to seat me at my favorite corner table by the window so I can enjoy the service of my favorite waiter, Lucas. He is a gem ... non-intrusive and very professional

Nice fresh restaurant. My only issue was that it took forever to get the staff to take my credit card to pay. Finally I had to go to the hostess to get some help.

This is my second time at this location. And I won't return. River North is THE BEST. The smoothie glass was filthy, my napkin was not clean, and they did not take the drink off our bill. Very surprising!

Went there for dinner. Went with the servers recommendations on dinner. Spot on. Everything is housemade and delicious. So good we came back for brunch the next day. Service wasn't as good as dinner, but food was fantastic.

Very unimpressed.

It was our anniversary, which was mentioned in the notes. No acknowledgement of that at all. First they sat us at a cramped table next to the kitchen. Then upon request were moved, but to a table that literally had a 360 degree spinning top it was so loose and wobbly. Service was terrible. It’s like once we didn’t order cocktails, we were a automatically a waste of her time. I am a server myself - have been in casual fine dining for the last 10 years - if you are good at your job, you should treat everyone equally. We sat for over 10 minutes with our empty plates stacked with napkins on top and watched all servers, bussers and the manager walk right by. The food was mediocre at best. Unfortunately won’t be back.

Food was not very good. My waiter was good. They don’t even put anything on the table when you come in and there was a breeze that was coming through the kitchen which made it chilly by the table

Excellent, eclectic menu. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is my pot roast was a bit fatty. But, it was delicious anyway. Our server was excellent. She was very helpful in describing the menu items and she was very nice.

My ravioli was al dente. Didn't care for it. The pot roast sandwich that one of our group ordered looked better. Plus the menu options seemed to healthy. I prefer comfort type food.

Brunched at Beatrix before heading out to Michigan Avenue for a day of Christmas Shopping.

Enjoyed the energy, but the space is a little strange. The front of the house is on the east end, and there is a back door off of a building lobby on the west end. We were seated along this route, and continually had people walking by, taking a short cut through the building. We felt like we were seated in a hallway, rather than in a restaurant.

The food was very interesting and healthy. Ordering presented several choices and it was difficult to pick a winner. Everything we ordered was great. We appreciatee our waiter's recommendations, and we also liked the information that the main dishes do not come with accompaniments.

My wife ordered the Pot Roast and Egg sandwich. It was large, but must have been incredibly delicious. Not being a breakfast person, she normally only eats half of whatever she orders and wraps the rest. Not this time, she wolfed it all down and loved every bite.

I only wish the waiter was more attentive and filled my coffee before I finished my meal. One tiny cup with a steak and eggs order was about two cups too few. He finally arrived at the end of the meal and thought to bring the pot with him.

We are looking forward to returning so we can try several more menu items.
