Beatrix is a neighborhood restaurant, coffeehouse and meeting place located in Chicago’s River North. Our chef partners Susan Weaver, Rita Dever and John Chiakulas have created a menu inspired by food made in Lettuce’s test kitchen.

Beatrix is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night offerings, as well as brunch on Saturday and Sundays.

All pastries, breads and sweets are baked in house daily. Some of our favorites include Sadie's Crunch Cake, Honey Butter Cinnamon Buns and Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Our coffee and tea program will showcase two iconic Chicago roasters, Intelligensia and Metropolis and specialty offerings like Nitro, Bulletproof, and more!

Terrific restaurant. A definite candidate for a repeat trip. Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts and Chicken Meatballs were outstanding. And the Cauliflower Steak....a culinary delight. Eduardo, our waiter, was terrific and very attentive.

We came in with an infant. We were both casually dressed. The restaurant provided food for the refined appetite in a casual setting. The bartenders craft amazing cocktails.

Great brunch! Really enjoyed our meals, especially the brown sugar bacon, Bloody Mary, and a delicious lemon angel food muffin.

Energetic vibe with a noise level low enough to have a conversation without yelling. Tables are far apart enough to have private conversations. Food and cocktails are absolutely great. Waiters are good but obviously loaded with tables (almost seems like there are only 2-3 waiters for the entire restaurant on the busiest nights). We saw the waiter constantly working so it’s not like they’re standing around. He also gave great recommendations and clearly knew the menu well. I feel like this is a common trend at any restaurant in this area. The restaurant walls are basically huge sliding doors. I went on a day where the temps were in the 90’s. Be aware of the tempature and dress accordingly. Staff is friendly, inviting and professional. Reservations are seated promptly. You can be seat without your entire party being present. This restaurant location is a must visit for dates.

The food wasn't to our taste. While the ingredients were fresh, the sauces were poured with a heavy hand and were very sweet. The salad dressing was cloyingly sweet. But if you like sweet, heavy sauces, this will suit, and the service and atmosphere are fine.

Our server seemed to have forgotten about us. This would perhaps be okay to allow my table to chat, however when our food came there were no utensils on the table. We had to wait until our server resurfaced, however a manager walked by and we flagged them down for assistance. As for the food, eh.... the pecan french toast was the special for the day, it was tasty but everyone neglected to inform us the serving size is comparable to a loaf of bread, it was HUGE! Most dishes are a la carte, but the french toast should be paired with eggs at least and it can be chopped down to size.

Waitress was great. Moved our seating to an open window seat which was really great for people watching. Wasn't wowed by the food. I had a simple dish of grits, brussel sprouts and cauliflower - tasted like my own home version so I wasn't expecting much anyways. I will come back. I enjoyed my mimosa.

Beatrix was enjoyable for dinner although not particularly memorable or special. The food was very good although a bit uneven - some dishes excellent, others just ok. Service was pleasant and capable. It was busy and energetic, although without any edge. So in general, fine. I would go back, though not seek it out particularly.

Brunch was great, as always. Food always arrives together and hot. Fresh takes on familiar recipes with lots of vegetarian options. I have never been disappointed. But do yourself a favor and make a reservation, otherwise you will wait...no matter the day of the week.

Menu selection is perfect for any group’s taste. For breakfast, you can get traditional or your tastebuds can explore eclectic. The cauliflower grits were excellent as was the quinoa cakes. Perfect amount of food, served at the right temperature, delivered in a timely manner. Drinks also fun. My daughter ordered a drink called banana Joe (I think). It tasted like the best adult chocolate milk!

We love everything about Beatrix. We had our rehearsal dinner in the River North location. This year for our one year anniversary, it only seemed appropriate my husband and I ate here for lunch after exchanging vows. We enjoyed a lovely meal outside, and eventually our in-laws joined and had a meal as well. Our fantastic server gave us a complimentary caramel pie slice (delicious!) and we got cookies to go.

I recommend Beatrix to everyone I meet looking for a great meal and superb service. Keep up the stellar work!

Food was excellent! I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was perfect. My brother got the crusted chicken, and his was equally as delicious. My only complaint was that the restaurant was quite warm. However it was an atypically crazy hot day in Chicago, so maybe their AC system was struggling more than usual.

I made reservations on open table, and we were seated as soon as we arrived.

I quite like like Beatrix, but it seems that each time I go to this location, it is louder than the last. The volume of music is not a help. The location at Fulton Market is better, but it is also slowly going up the volume scale. For business lunches, this is annoying.

Amazing value and quality for the money. Fabulous dessert case. I always get bakery items to take home to Kalamazoo MI. The menu is not extensive, however each item is carefully prepared and amazing.

Our first time at Beatrix and really enjoyed it. Great when you see a menu and have to select between several items that sound good. One guest had a 'standard' breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns, while the other three had more unusual choices. Cauliflower grits and eggs were great. Hash browns - the group agreed they were no big deal

We went with our teenage girls and sat near the open windows. It was a great night and the food was terrific. They enjoyed the juice drinks and I had a great cocktail - the white sangria. Tasty! We would go again.

We were told Beatriz has one of the best brunches in town, but we opted for dinner based on our travel schedule, and the food looked good. I had a “Pink Ranger” to drink and we split the King Pao Brussels sprouts for an appetizer, which were very flavorful and unique. The seas bass I ordered was cooked perfectly, and just the right size, with a gorgeous corn/coconut mix. My husband had the skirt steak chimichurri, and he seemed a little underwhelmed by the seasoning, but completed the meal. Our server was attentive when he was at the table, but may have been spread a bit thin.

I love this restaurant but they do not respect reservation times. Even if you make a reservation you have to give yourself an extra 15-20 minutes of wait time before they seat you. That is the only thing I absolutely do not like. Otherwise, service, food and ambience are fabulous!

Beatrix is always a great spot for a fun lunch or dinner. This time my lunch companion and I were first shown to a small table by the entrance when a larger table by the window was available. Our request to change tables was graciously facilitated. I enjoyed the supernatural chopped salad, but the dressing lacked flavor. I felt the same way about the Straight A salad that I'd ordered the time before -- the dressing lacked something -- and it was way too much arugula for a main course salad (good for splitting).

Food and service was outstanding! Made for a lovely Father’s day dinner. Only one little hiccup with the table setup but it was still a wonderful evening. Staff even accommodated our need to dine and dash to make our architectural tour which was really appreciated.
