More comfortable than a MINI Cooper, Beatrix is a casual and versatile restaurant in River North.
Great food and great service
Novel entrees. Excellent and actually really fast service. Only complaint was noise level. Had to raise our voices to chat.
Excellent food and service. Will certainly return. The juices were delicious, especially the blueberry basil drink. Would recommend the cinnamon roll and coffee to finish off lunch.
Great food in a friendly atmosphere
Asked for an avocado benedict and hash brown. The avocado was rather firm and the hash brown was not crispy enough.
Great wine, amazing burrato w kale pesto. And Great sea bass in a coconut curry. Fantastic meal at a reasonable price.
Top notch service from a pleasant server who was not only extremely well trained in customer interactions but had great knowledge of the menu. The whole restaurant is very attentive to allergies!!! The food was top notch: we had the burrata, which was perfectly prepared, followed by Chilean Bass, which was not your traditional lemon-white wine preparation, and I had the Chicken Bebe - which was perfectly prepared and so, so flavorful! Light, extremely flavorful of lemon, parmesan, and god knows what other delicious spices! Highly recommend this gem!
My concern is this restaurant doesn’t treat open table reservations well.
This is the second reservation I’ve been seated late and at an inferior table. One time the reservation was lost.
Left note for business meal, but they sat us right at the revolving door at the entrance. It was way too noisy for a business meal.
Server was very short in tone, below average quality service. Salmon portion was smaller than normal on salad
Since arriving, we had an awesome experience during our visit. The vibe there was great, our waitress was even better, and the food was like no other!
Dropped in for a fast meal. It was fine. Nothing memorable. A total M'heh, in my book. The burgers were correctly prepared, the Asian salad was ok, the chicken b was fried, not tasty.
Had a wonderful time with group of friends. Food and service were very good. It was a little too noisy but I would go again!
Fantastic brunch with a uniquely delicious menu!! Will absolutely return again and again!!
This place has an interesting menu selection and the food is good. Prices are reasonable as well. Those are the positives, but management and service keep us from recommending. Tonight we got a bar table instead of the dining table we reserved via Open Table. We got the wrong bottle of wine, and it took two people and 15 minutes to get that corrected. They ran out of one of the entrees we ordered, and didn't tell us until 20 minutes after we ordered. There were no service recovery efforts after these gaffes, just generic apologies that felt hurried and blasé from both waiter and manager. C'mon folks, things happen, but a manager that gives a damn makes a gesture when they do. Waiter wasn't attentive and seemed distracted -- he alternated between waiting tables and tending bar -- which is probably why he forgot which wine we ordered. Didn't ruin our evening because we had good conversation among friends, but they didn't earn our business tonight. Too many other options to patronize that value their customers in this neighborhood, which is our neighborhood, in Chicago.
We were really looking forward to this dinner. We were seated quickly, but they put us at a very small table right next to the check in station. It was very tight and we asked to be moved. Our server started out great, then took our drink and app order. The apps came out before we even had our drinks. Placed our dinner order and were served before they even cleared the empty app plates. Basically had to move app plates out of the way to serve our dinner. Server asked if everything was ok,then we never saw her again for a really long time. Sat with empty plates for probably 20 minutes. Had to flag her down to ask for our check. Food was really good but service lowered our rating.
Had the spring pea soup and chicken bebe, both delicious! Nice atmosphere and excellent service. Would definitely return when back in town.
Really great breakfast! Healthy options with a great atmosphere.
Very friendly service, and plenty of gluten free options. The fries are killer. Very noisy and a bit slow, but that was fine for us. Fun Friday night friends dinner.
We were in Chicago for a business meeting and brought some friends there. Loved our food so much we went the next night with another couple and ordered the same things!! Both couples said they’d definitely be back.
Long wait to be seated even though I had a reservation.
We were visiting Chicago from out of town and found Beatrix online - we really enjoyed it. It's an attractive restaurant, kind of an industrial style. It's pretty loud but we sat over on the side nearer the bar, and the noise over there was more reasonable. The fresh juice cocktails were delicious, and we shared an appetizer, a large salad, a soup, a main course, and a dessert, for a total bill of $80 not including tip, which I thought was quite reasonable for what we had. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. We have already recommended it to our friends who live in Chicago.
Fabulous food and excellent service. They recognized our anniversary celebration and comped us two desserts which were super.
It was so good we went back for breakfast the next morning. Also great!
I love Beatrix. This was my first time at this location but it did not disappoint. I did miss a few of their old menu items (apparently they just recently changed it up) but it was still delicious. Always fresh always good service...just a wonderful place to dine.
Beatrix is always great. Food is consistent with a nice selection. Most servers are wonderful. On this visit we had a server who was friendly, helpful and was happy to help us. Beatrix is a perfect lunch spot since you can have a healthy lunch and be back to the office in a reasonable time.
Brunch with wife and kids for her birthday. Everyone left full and happy.
We are new to Chicago and have become big fans of Beatrix for personal and professional meals. This is the 3rd time we had Hunter at River North as our server and he does a great job. Between the River North and West Loop locations we eat at Beatrix 3-5 times a month - Brunch, Lunch and Dinner. We have not had a bad meal yet...you'll never go wrong with pot roast...
We had a great experience! Our server was awesome! He was so attentive and took great care of our 3 year old. Without us asking, he brought a booster seat and water for her American Girl doll! Made her night. Food was awesome. Thank you!
Had a great dinner experience here, from the delicious appetizers to the cocktails. The portions are pretty large and our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Ambiance was cozy and cool/trendy. Restaurant was buzzing with activity but I could keep up a conversation without raising my voice at all. Oh and get the burrata!
Loved Beatrix! Healthy delicious meal, loved the weekend brunch menu, reasonably priced, and great courteous wait staff. I noticed it noisy when I arrived but that did not interfere with our conversations or any aspect of our experience . I will look forward to my next time at Beatrix!!
Fantastic experience from beginning to end. In Chicago from out of town and went for dinner after an afternoon at the art institute. Came back for brunch 2 days later and was equally as impressed.
Kung pau Brussels sprouts were incredible. Everyone’s food at the table was noteworthy it felt a little cramped/crowded .
Fantastic breakfast. Cauliflower grits and Spicy chicken tinga were both great. A glass of Valencia OJ to match the guajillio spice in the tinga was perfect. Definitely returning soon.
Beatrix is better for breakfast/brunch as opposed to dinner. Our server was not attentive and we found ourselves waiting a long time for the check and to order dessert. Very fun ambiance.
We have a dairy free daughter. Great menu and knowledgeable staff.
Any more Lettuce Entertain You restaurants are failing to stand out. The food here was ok not bad but lacked in creativity and flavor. The drinks were good but not great. And the service was middling at best. Given that it was Easter this could be forgiven if my food were prepared properly. A medium burger as ordered came out medium rare. It had good flavor for unseasoned hamburger but really? Who serves a burger medium rare? My wife's quinoa burger fared little better. The flavor of the sriracha aioli was the saving grace. And the fries were just meh. Should have done the breakfast portion of brunch instead. The waffles smelled delicious.
Excellent food and very tasty. The service was quick and courteous. Good restaurant if you are vegetarian.
the food was so tasty and imaginative. Ambiance had a fun, cool vibe. Servers friendly and upbeat.
