Beatrix - River North

I booked this lunch date for myself and my sisters. Disclaimer!! We are Black Women. Reservations were at 1:45pm, we arrived at 1:43pm barely any patrons in the restaurant. The guy who I’m assuming was the manager (waiters had on all black, this guy was dressed casually) told us it would be a couple minutes. I said Okay (but thinking, why? It’s literally no one in here?) My sisters and I proceeded to watch him walk around in circles, to the kitchen for seemingly Nothing, to the bar to print slips to give to No One, to a table with one woman sitting quietly working on her laptop to ask her if she needed anything , to another table with two ppl, & back to the hostess stand, to then check the mail... he then grabs 3 place settings with his dirty hands and walks us to a table 4ft away from where we were just standing for the past 7mins. At 1:50pm.

All of these things could have been done AFTER he sat us down at a table. But it really seemed like he wanted to do any and everything he could think of to do, before he sat us down at a table. After we take our seats..we look at one another and decide to spend our money elsewhere and leave the restaurant. Obviously Beatrix isn’t a fan of black people and would prefer for them to spend their money elsewhere.

The food was good. The service was ok. Our waiter went MIA. We had a reservation and were seated in “overflow” area in a hotel lobby at least 15 min after our reservation time.

Amazing food and environment! We went for brunch and everything was incredible - especially the lemon pancakes. Highly recommend

We sat at our table for 40 minutes before a server came to greet us. We had to repeatedly flag the server down to get refills of water or coffee. One plate was ordered as gluten free. Once the food came, I asked the server to confirm it was gluten free and he said it was not and needed to be remade. Super slow service and server was inattentive.

My friends and I were in town for one night and stopped to grab a to go coffee. The next day we decided to come back for brunch. The place is super cute on the inside, our server was great, and the food was amazing. LOVED our experience here. Definitely recommend!

Pros
Food was good. Ambience was nice. Loved the drinks too.

Cons
Had to wait 45 mins even after reservation. Host mentioned that the customers are leaving the table but in actual they were not.

Nice place. I would recommend more vegan-friendly options.

We visited Chicago to celebrate my wife’s 40th & chose Beatrix for our brunch which was an excellent choice! Our server (Chris L) was outstanding! Great suggestions & worked with us on dietary restrictions! He was so helpful! The food was outstanding! Will visit again next time in town!!!

Every menu that I tried was just beyond my expectations! Local Burrata was so fresh and perfect combination of each ingredient, and chicken enchilada was sooooo delicious.

The menu for dinner on Open Table was not the same as what was actually offered on site. I was disappointed to not have any vegetarian entrees options beyond a soup entree, so ended up ordering a tiny salty cauliflower appetizer. Waiter was unwilling to ask the chef if a lunch menu vegetarian option was possible. Disappointing as the veggie burger was the primary reason I picked the restaurant. However, the ambiance was nice. I’ll remember to call and ask/confirm menu items before reserving next time.

I'm in love with Beatrix!! Everything about this restaurant is 5 star in my book including the desserts and drinks

Waited for a while even though we had reservations. Service was slow initially as it looked like they were short staffed with bussing and hostessing. Food was good and juice was delicious

I love Beatrix! I was here with friends getting drinks & dessert and we had the most lovely time. The pineapple-habanero margarita and caramel pie were delicious and our waiter, Eduardo, was a treasure and gave great recommendations.

Food was all very good, nice staff. Few items that were not available for wine & beer.

It was attached to a hotel. The food was okay. I sat right on the verge of where the restaurant and the hotel lobby come together so I might not have had the best seat to evaluate.

Awesome space and yummy food!

I wish I could say that my boyfriend and I had the opportunity to eat here, but to be candid we got up and left right after getting seated our table. It was our first date out since October and we were looking forward to a fun night. We were seated in the hotel lobby, behind a curtain, in front of a revolving door, and completely separated from the restaurant, and underneath florescent lighting to boot. To be honest, I felt like we were seated in a cafeteria, not the romantic and hip ambiance of the actual restaurant. Not the evening we had planned, bummed that we missed out on Beatrixs’ delicious food.

The steak chimichurri was delicious and the gin blueberry drink was refreshing. The place did lack a little ambience and music but overall a good place.

Great service and delicious food. The restaurant was busy but all the tables were very well spaced apart so I never felt uncomfortable.

Great place for drinks + apps! Stopped there before going to dinner (reservation was later but was already in the city)

Very little to no veggie options . Paid $11 for some kun pao cauliflower (very small) Waiter was even like (yeahhh , we don’t have a lot of veggie stuff) it was my fault for not looking into the menu before, I assumed they would have more than cauliflower and French fries 😔

Unfortunately, the service here has gone way downhill. Servers were scrambling. Our appetizer were served after our entrees and was cold.

The coffee was amazing, the service was top notch and was very attentive! I will definitely be back for more coffee because it was so good! The omelette was really good and didn’t take long at all to get

We love taking our kids out to eat. And sometimes it’s hard to accommodate for picky eaters, but we felt like our server was very attentive to the needs spoken and unspoken and made us all feel comfortable and welcomed. Overall A+!!

Very tasty food and amazing drinks! The service was pretty good and the whole place had a warm feel.

I liked the place. The food was good. The service sucked. We waited almost 30 minutes for someone to take our order after we sat down.

Delicious food and great service

Hostess did a horrible job of seating my party, especially after making us wait 15 minutes past our designated reservation time.

Besides from the hostess, our waiter did a great job of taking our order. And the delicious food came out at a terrific pace.

I hope to come back to Beatrix for another meal, and expect my experience to be slightly better.

The food wasn’t as good as it usually is which was disappointing. The seating was awful.
