Beatrix - River North
Beatrix is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night offerings, as well as brunch on Saturday and Sundays.
All pastries, breads and sweets are baked in house daily. Some of our favorites include Sadie's Crunch Cake, Honey Butter Cinnamon Buns and Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Our coffee and tea program will showcase two iconic Chicago roasters, Intelligensia and Metropolis and specialty offerings like Nitro, Bulletproof, and more!
Super nice people. Efficient service. Good, healthy good.
Food is unmatched, service was prompt. Chairs were trash and uncomfortable and it’s a small space so it felt cramped. Definitely recommend it for the food. Bring your big wallet though, it’s pricey. $120 for brunch for four
Great brunch in the down town area. Highly recommended. Booking essential. Pear, pineapple and ginger juice - a pleasantly delicious surprise!
Excellent food and atmosphere!
Brunch was fantastic! The fresh juices and unique breakfast options were all fantastic
What a cool place! Food was delicious, service was perfect and the ambiance was so fun!
In town for the marathon. Beatrix was highly recommended. Delicious food, great service! Will definitely be back next time!
There was a line and wait to check in, even though we came with a reservation. Once seated, the service was good and al dishes met or exceeded expectations.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience!!
We had 10:30 reservations for a high top table. We were seated fifteen minutes late, at a low top table. No explanation as to why. Our server, Joey, was slow, inattentive, non-communicative and ineffective. We have never had a negative experience there before. We will give it another try, but there's lots of competition out there.
Very simple, nothing special or fancy. Just simple, good food, at fairly average city prices. Very loud and energetic, good selection of drinks and coffees, lots of great pastries as well. Worth a go once in a while but none of the food stood out in any way.
Great ambiance in busy River North where there are many options. Good selection for vegetarians. Downside is there are no beers on tap (why not a local brew at least)? Large space seemed to make getting and changing a reservation easier.
This is my second time at Beatrix and the experience has been the same...I think Beatrix is a lovely restaurant with a progressive menu. The ambiance is lively and the patrons sufficiently diverse. The issues I had arose from a service perspective. I thought our waiter was patient and pleasant, but for both the appetizers and the entrees, the food "check backs" came way too late. That meant that we couldn't get the extras we were going to order until the apps had pretty much been eaten and the issues with our entrees went un-checked. There was no proactive clearing of the table to prepare for the five entrees which meant when they came there was a harried exchange to get things off of the table and staff seemed annoyed with my guests for not handing them utensils and plates quickly enough. Please note it is not a guests' job to assist staff in clearing; it is a courteous jester when it happens, but should never be expected. Empty glassware stayed on the table literally till the end of the meal, which for me is a pet peeve. I am being so detailed in this review as I think Beatrix can be a great dinning experience if more attention to detail can be payed. I might be a bit more finicky when it comes to service, but I am not unreasonable.
I’m so glad that I discovered the River North gem. Food and mocktail was awesome. I went for lunch, and was surprised by the quality of food and creativity. Service seemed to be a little rushed and impersonal. But, as a fellow server, I can understand how it can be. BTW, order the KOUIGN AMAN pastry!!! DELISH!!!!
Great spot. Breakfast seems to be their strong point.
Nice menu. Good service
One of my favorite places. Always great! I love that they have gluten free options. Service is always great. They’re very accommodating. Love love love!
Delicious dinner Saturday night at a cozy window table. Loved the filet mignon pot roast and tasty honey ginger chicken meatballs. Desserts were equally delicious. Highly recommend!
I think the food here is just ok for dinner. For downtown Chicago there are so many other options at the same price point. I consider this more of a lunch spot. Also, stood at the coffee bar for a long time after dinner to order a pastry along with another person. Several folks were behind the bar working but no one acknowledged us or took our orders so I left.
Everything was great but the check took over 30 min to come and our server wasn’t busy enough for it to be an excuse.
Great gluten free menu for those requiring it.
Beautiful day. Beautiful food. Perfection in ambiance and service.
Quinn was an amazing server.
Fantastic food at Sunday brunch. All from menu. Perfect eggs and omelets. , hash browns. Chicken sausage too sweet. Very busy but other than on loud side nice ambience. Because we were celebrating a birthday they offered a complimentary dessert of our choosing. Vibrant Chicago feel.
The location is great. However the food was on the bland side. I had an issue with the bill which was corrected when I brought it the servers attention.
Good options for vegetarians as the menu is very plant based but the chicken was good too. Brussel sprouts and burrata were good to share. The atmosphere is energetic with open space and kitchen design. Service was friendly and attentive.
Delicious brunch, highly recommend!
We arrived about 20 minutes early but hey were able to seat us right by the window right away. Our server was attentive but not *too* attentive, and the food was delicious. Standouts were the chicken meatball appetizer and the caramel tart dessert!
The fish panzanella was watery and was a pretty small portion. Very disappointed. It was rather boring. Caesar salad was phenomenal!!
Our server was very attentive and polite. The food was ok. Brussels sprouts appetizer was soggy and disappointing, the burrata was ok but came with big thick pieces of toasted bread which was boring. The short ribs were flavorful and tender. The wine prices were very fair. We had a California Albariño and it was really good. The pumpkin cheesecake desert was delicious.....great crust with chocolate and carmel flavors. The atmosphere is nice but the reason it’s getting a 2 star rating is the music was so freaking loud. It made it difficult to carry on a conversation and there were only 3 of us. When we finally stepped outside my ears stopped hurting. I don’t get WHY these restaurants have to play the music SO DAMN LOUD. It totally detracted from our experience. I won’t go back.
It's one of my 2 fave restaurants - the other being Aba....I love everything about it....I go atleast 1/week. Been a regular for years!
Great food and service
Excellent breakfast! Terrific in all respects!
This was our second time eatin
Service was horrific. Lemon pancakes were uneatable. Best part of the meal was the fresh squeezed OJ.
Food outstanding. Waitress outstanding. It can be a little loud just because it is so busy but in a fun, lively way rather than annoying. Recommend!
Interesting food. A little spice and nice flavors Quite crowded for Sunday morning
Great server. Very accommodating to our little 2 year old.
I had heard from multiple people this was a great place for any meal. Our table of 6 came for a before wedding brunch and it was amazing!
Our food and service were both amazing.
