Beatrice & Woodsley Ratings and Reviews
We heard this was a great restaurant and got a gift card as a gift. The ambiance was different and really nice, but the food was Eh. We had a goat cheese and pear on bruschetta and it didn't have much taste at all. I ordered shrimp and grits and I never would've known it was grits (I'm still wondering). It was more like mashed potatoes. The service staff was nice and attentive but it took a long time to get our food. It was nice to experience the ambiance, but not worth the hype at all, or waiting weeks you get a reservation. I probably won't be going back.
Arrived on time for our reservation and were promptly seated. From other reviews I thought the restaurant would be more crowded than it was for a Saturday night. Lots of empty tables.
Ordered drinks to start. They were refreshing and tasted good, though nothing spectacular. We ordered the crawfish beignets and waited over 45 minutes for them to arrive. We were told there was a large party that had their food order in, so the kitchen couldn't keep up. My boyfriend ordered a second drink, but nobody came around to get my drink order. The beignets finally came, they were tasty. We didn't end up ordering dinner. Overall pretty much a letdown.
This is a very very expensive restaurant. Entrees are in the $32 area with a salad costing $15 The food quality is excellent, however, in comparison to Charcoal, Rioja, Mercantile the restaurant is simply grossly overpriced and not nearly as good as competitors.
We were celebrating my birthday so we wanted something romantic. This is a gem of a restaurant for sure! The food was inventive and excellent with just the right amount servings. Our waiter Anthony was very professional and helpful. When the food arrived the dish was explained in detail.
Thank you for making my birthday so special!!
Overall, it was an okay experience. The ambience is delightful. The wait staff was friendly enough. We enjoyed the flavor profiles of the dishes, but every single protein at our table was overcooked: pork shank, salmon...even the ricotta gnocchi. The best dish by far was the ricotta toasties appetizer. We skipped dessert after the rather blah exoerience. I would probably return for drinks and people watching, but the food was not worth it. There are far too many restaurants in Denver with much better menus and preparation.
What a wonderful place to gather. The ambiance and decor are a delight. The breakfast brunch was wonderful, as was the coffee and mimosa. Cannot overstate how good the food was. The service was welcoming and attentive with no sense of rush. Well worth the hour drive to celebrate a birthday. If we lived close, we would definitely visit often.
The décor is quite unique, however we had a lackluster server. The person who served our food was much more engaging and personable.
I enjoyed the food overall, and each of our choices were thoughtfully plated.
If the service experience were more consistent, and there was less of a "we're too cool for you" feel, this place could do well.
I was so excited to dine here! And while the atmosphere was very romantic, I didn't love all the dishes we ate at our brunch. The avocado salad was fresh and delicious—with hints of citrus zest—but I can't recommend the shrimp and grits; the salad that accompanied it was so highly salted I found it completely inedible, and the grits were so finely ground they had the texture of pudding. Oh, and the shrimp were few—and small. I usually love biscuits, but theirs were a little greasy for my taste. This is all just my personal opinion, of course—I have a very exacting palette. Another diner may love them. Perhaps other dishes are better. And the atmosphere is lovely!
In general I was expecting more from Beatrice & Woodsley after all the good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't anything to remember. The food was ok but coffee was very bad, I couldn't drink it and I am far from being an expert. It was just bad and tasteless. The waitress didn't even ask why I didn't like it or offered another option, she simple took it from the table and that was it. During the booking process they ask if it's an special occasion so I thought that this may mean something giving that it was my boyfriend's birthday brunch. Nope, it didn't, the host just said happy birthday before showing us our table and that was it.
I wanted to love this place, and did a good research for booking giving that I don't live in Denver. But it simply wasn't what I was expecting.
This is one of the coolest interior design concepts of any restaurant in Denver. The ambiance is outstanding and the seating areas extremely cozy and intimate.
That said, the food is okay, the service is average, and the drink prices are a bit in the high end, even for a fancy place such as B & W is. I came for the ambiance and I would return again for it!
This place is absolutely adorable. The way it is decorated makes you feel like you're eating in a little hideaway in the woods. The service was excellent and all the waiters and waitresses were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was also good... I went for brunch and the menu was not super long but my friend and I were both about to find something we wanted and the prices are not bad at all considering the ambiance and level of service. I'm telling everyone I know about this place!
We were looking for a place to celebrate an anniversary, and stumbled upon Beatrice & Woodsley. The ambiance was lovely, and food was great. We got there a bit early and sat at the bar until our table was ready - the bartender was awesome. Once we sat the staff was attentive, but we never felt rushed, which is important for a special occasion.
LOVED this restaurant! With so many options , this one stands out! The ambiance is wonderful and the food is not only nice to look at, every bite tastes amazing! I have told everyone I've talked to since our visit there and will continue to let them know that this is a must! We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Beatrice and Woodsley is always a good choice. From the aspen tree and chainsaw motif, they excel at everything they do. Attentive, but not overbearing, service...just the right blend. They know the menu, as well. Food....creative, delicious bites. Start with the crawfish beignets, which blend the sweetness of the dessert, perfectly cooked, with the savory crawfish and a creamy red pepper sauce aeoli. My friend had the eggplant with a corn risotto. Best risotto I've ever had, with a crunch and several flavors to tantalize the palate. I had a duck, done perfectly, with polenta cakes and a chard.....the flavors worked together. Topped with a nice $40 pinot noir, it made for a splendid evening. But we're not done, as the crème brulee with a raspberry addition, topped with a fried strawberry, was a nice little topper. Great date place.....and quiet enough you can hear your date easily.
The ambience was amazing! The bathrooms definitely had an Alice and Wonderland feel. The food was great and very fair price. I love the crawfish beignets and grilled squid. The service, however, was not impressive. The host was very sweet and knowledgeable but our server was inattentive and seemed to lack proper training. Receieving bad service at and establishment of this stature is more than disappointing.
I have been looking forward to visiting this spot for a while and this place is great. The restaurant and the ambiance are amazing. I loved every detail of the design and the atmosphere was just right. It seemed like a great spot for a date or a small group dining. The noise level and the ambiance are just right for a quiet dinner. The staff is great, super friendly, and very helpful. For the night out this place was the spot to have a great dining experience.
The Menu however is not as impressive as the restaurant would imply. For the atmosphere, one would expect the menu to offer many interesting dishes. There were very few good options. Some of the starters and the drinks were good but that only subtracts from the main meal. The place is great for the "Happy Hour" or "pre-dinner drinks"
Personally I would encourage interested parties to give the place a full shot to judge for themselves. I know, someday, I will give it another in hopes of a better culinary experience.
