Beatrice & Woodsley Ratings and Reviews
The environment and ambiance is phenomenal and the restaurant is beautiful. We had so much fun just hanging out. The service, however, was subpar and the food was highly disappointing. We ordered 2 appetizers, two entrees, and a dessert and nothing stood out. The dishes are bland and lacking creativity. For dessert, we ordered the banana cream "pie" and it was literally caramel, graham cracker, oreo, banana pudding with whipped cream on top. I could have made this at home for so much cheaper. Overall, we loved the atmosphere and enjoyed our date but definitely, don't recommend this place for food. Next time we'd probably just sit at the bar.
The restaurant is very cool with awesome ambiance. However, our service was very poor. Our order was not taken until 30 minutes after seating. There was a fly in my glass of wine and when I pointed it out to the waitress I was brought a new glass, but no new wine which was upsetting for a $12 glass of wine. Then the food was not served until an hour after ordering. All-in-all we were in the restaurant for 2 hours which was absurd. The food was tasty, but definitely not at the level that I expected for the price. The restaurant did comp our appetizer for the long wait, which was nice of them.
This is the 2nd time we have come here but 1st for dinner. I love this place and was very excited to show my family the unique ambiance with the gourmet food. I will say this last time for dinner, I was a bit disappointed.
The service was not the best - our waitress was not around enough and we had to ask other servers for assistance. Other tables around us with the same waitress also complained. The heater was broke - which was obviously not their fault but they didn't have much empathy nor offered anything special for the cold inconvenience (it was snowy and about 20 degrees out - they sat us right by the window). Food is always good, however I will have to say that their duck confit was too salty. Also, their cheese board is VERY slim. Probably one of the worst cheese boards I have ever had. Enough bread and jam for 5 people but only enough cheese for 1 person (we had 4 people). Not even olives or nuts! We asked if we could just get more additional cheese and not the whole board again (because it was literally just cheese, bread, and jam) and they said that wasn't an option - we would be charged for the whole board. That was frustrating.
Vodka martinis were stiff but good. Wine was very tasty at a good price. Short ribs were incredible! Also, the veggie option called Bubbles and Squeaks was super good. Would get these options again. I am very happy I was able to bring my family here on a snowy night - it sets the mood right with the atmosphere of the restaurant :)
I think if they didn't make up for the yummy entrees, I would have given them a worse review. Truly, the unique setting is probably the most incredible part about this restaurant. I will come back here another time to give them a chance to make up for the last - but they better fix that cheeseboard!
I was blown away especially since we tried Bang up to the Elephant last week and had such a dismal experience and were incredibly disappointed. Our experience tonight at B&W was incredible. Every aspect was perfect from the stellar cocktails and wine to each dish ordered and the overall atmosphere and service. Already excited to return (hopefully soon) to try brunch!
Had a group of eight and they squished us in a small area. Asked the server to clear the table as very crowded with 8 people drinking and eating and he was a little surly about removing items. Service was not the best. Food was excellent. Would not go there with a large group again. Would sit at the bar.
We were in for a 40th Birthday party, Bus/Pers mix.
It was sadly apparent that the staff was not interested in providing service to 16 people, with a reservation(Why take it) at 10:00
We spent well over $1000.00 on Champagne(Though you couldn't provide what I originally ordered, from your menu) and other items. Also, you refused service to a member of our party(Not based on intoxication, but rather because he requested a birthday "shot" for the Birthday girl)
One of the tables(of the two we reserved, after a hassle about # of people we had) was only contacted by a server once during our "stay", and we were never asked if we needed anything beyond our initial drink order...to the point that I needed(As did several in our party) to get up and order the champagne for the toast, from the bar.
All this might have been forgivable, had you been busy(On a Friday night) But, not surprisingly, you were not.
It is unlikely that the members of the party(Denver business professionals, 25-45 years old)will think of you for their future events.
This place was great! The interior design of the restaurant was incredible and the servers were very welcoming and positive. The design of the restaurant definitely caught my eye the most. The food was delicious and I would recommend this place for a date or any special occasion, just get a table. The bar looked like a place for just casual dinner as well. The food and drinks did take a little longer than expected to get to us, but it didn't get in the way of a perfect date.
We had an 8:45pm reservation (only because we couldn't get in any earlier), but they didn't seat us until 9:00pm. The server seemed to take a very long time in getting to us so we spend a good amount of time waiting. I think we finally got drinks by 9:20 and ordered food by 9:30. We received our food by 9:50 or 10:00. The food was good but not exceptional and I wouldn't say the service was great either. For the price, the experience was just so-so. I don't think we'll be going back.
The experience at Beatrice and Woodsley was alright, nothing really positive or negative of note. The food was fine, nothing spectacular, but neither of us didn't like our dishes. Overall I am not in a rush to go back, the price tag was a little higher than the experience and food was worth.
One of my best friends and I were celebrating our birthdays. What a beautiful and quiet place! The decoration is superb, original, and creative. I appreciated being able to have a conversation without yelling. The lights are perfect, not too bright, not too dark. All the staff was courteous, professional, and fun. We loved being there. There was a birthday card signed by the staff when we got to the table. Such a nice touch.
Their cocktails are delicious. The beer was pretty good too.
Regarding ambiance and decoration, it was what I was expecting. Now, I need to agree with other reviews about the food. It's pricey and not out of this world. The portions are small, and the menu itself is not very varied.
When you read the descriptions of each item, it looks like you're about to have a delicious meal. However, they turn out to be kind of pretentious compared to what you get on the plate.
We ordered a cheese board to share. It was beautifully presented, but on the board, we had the three smallest pieces of cheese I've seen. My husband ordered the gnocchi, and he was pretty underwhelmed. I ordered the cabbage salad. It was good but just good. My friend said that her dish was just OK.
The dessert and the Frech press coffee were delicious though.
I would go back because I loved the place, but I would not return for the food, that's for sure. There are so many places in Denver, that B and W would need to improve the flavor of the food to be on top of my list.
Took mother-in-law who was visiting from NY. She eats out often & has a spoiled palate (so many great places to eat in NY!). So we wanted to show her someplace a little different. Overall, good service, ambiance, etc. But thought portions could have been more generous, considering the price. Also, the crawfish beignets were disappointing....did not see/taste any crawfish!
the restaurant itself is beautiful and the food is really good. the staff were friendly and the overall feeling in there was great. i had just asked out my girlfriend that night and took her to a reservation here and we both loved it. definitely coming back for our first year
