Beast and Barrel
We are not into the see and be seen…scene. We take our food and drink seriously; ourselves not so much. Our goal has never wavered; we've always worked to build the kind of place that we, as Chattanoogans would want to frequent. A real community hangout that just happens to hold the highest quality food and drink. We back our handmade goods and friendly face with the best value we can offer. From the day we open we will continue to grow, to strive for awesomeness and shape ourselves around the relationships we’ve forged with our neighbors our farmers and all those who pass through our doors. Taking nothing for granted, we see every day as a new opportunity to grow with our guests.

We had one of the worst dining experiences of my life at Beast and Barrel. I saved it for a special occasion (Father’s Day) so that my meat loving husband could enjoy it. It took 15 minutes after we were seated to see our server. He brought waters and took our order...he had to check and see if they had banana for the banana pancakes on the menu. Apparently they didn’t because we got blueberry pancakes. I asked for a side of bacon which we never got. I had to ask for syrup for the pancake three times before we got any. My husband got the wings which were delicious but his medium burger was far from medium (more like well done) but since our server didn’t check in and it took so much effort to get a refill of our water he didn’t send it back. The service was slow and we were hungry. The chicken and biscuit were okay but there was too much gravy. I also got a kale Caesar salad and the croutons were soggy. We couldn’t get a refill on my husband’s Diet Coke. They restaurant didn’t seem that busy and the server was friendly when he did appear but we will never go back after today.
This was our first time at Beast +Barrel. Matt was our server, and was very helpful, and personable.
Date night with wife Great food Top Shelf Drinks and extremely professional service from our server Matt.
As a Chef in the industry I would recommend this place to my friends. We drove 100 miles and worth every mile
I love Beast and Barrel. My family and I came to enjoy brunch to honor my brother for his birthday. It wasn't very busy when we arrived. Our server was very nice. But it took one hour for us to get our food. We ordered an appetizer that came out with the entrees. I still love you guys, but I fail to see why things moved so slowly. The food was outstanding, but the wait time was perplexing.
Beast and Barrel was amazing. Great food. Great service. Great drinks.
I have dined at Beast and Barrel previously, and it seems the restaurant has gone downhill. Our server returned to our table a couple of times to Inform us that items we ordered were no longer available, service was slow and it took 45 minutes for our food to be delivered to the table, and one of our orders was prepared incorrectly. Those of us in our party decided we won’t be back.
Great service, the waitress was very polite and thorough. The food was yummy and full of flavor. They have good cocktails too. I highly recommend this place!
There were eight of us dining and the service was excellent and very prompt. We ordered salads, hamburgers, and the blackened fish sandwich. All were great and overall, a very good value.
Very dissatisfied. Food took over 40 minutes to arrive. Entree arrived much different than menu description and was not good. Risotto was pasty, fish overcooked and broccoli overdone. I told my server and he seriously said "I just run the food and drink" At least he got the manager but she was completely uninterested and just went through the motions and send over some missing sauce. I only ate half but was still charged full price. $40 for 2 below par entrees is just ridiculousness. No sense of hospitality when given an opportunity to make it right. Waste of time and money.
Enjoyed the meat selection. Dessert was okay. The breakfast options were great; however, the food was cold. The waitress was very attentive and outstanding. The desserts were okay.
Usually this is a very good restaurant. I went for mother’s day and they had a Buffet style brunch. They let the burners run out and the food was cold and terrible. This $35 per person buffet wasn’t worth $10 a person. I was sat at my table for nearly 10 min before anyone got my drink order and had to repeatedly ask for a refill. For a normally exceptional restaurant this really let me down.
We went for Mother’s Day brunch. When we arrived we were surprised that they had a buffet for Mother’s Day. Not knowing how the entire family would feel about it, but once they saw and then tasted they were super happy. Everything was amazing. Chef Amanda even came to the table. She was very nice. Been before and can’t wait to go back!!
Food was fantastic! Executive Chef Amanda Tate and her staff are exceptional! The prime rib was the best I’ve had in recent memory!
One of the wait staff was not on his A Game my last visit. A tad disappointing since my past visits were very satisfactory. The wait staff are attentive, know the menu, and make great up-sale recommendations.
The bar keeps are great at their trade, drinks are nice and well priced. Plus, who can resist WINE ON TAP!
Took over an hour to get food and it was not even good. The service was very slow and many things went wrong throughout the whole meal. We would not go back.
Kitchen was backed up, so servers were doing best they could. One of the dishes was exceptional, the rest of them were subpar - especially at the price. Too many great options in Chattanooga for this restaurant to stay viable if the quality doesn’t increase or at least the prices decrease.
So glad we found this gym while visiting Chattanooga. Everyone really liked everything they ordered! Be sure to get the cheesecake too!
The waitstaff was stellar! Our waiter was great!!!! The brunch food was just average tasting. Fairly priced but just average tasting. The waiter made our experience great. Very attentive and awesome. Location and actual restaurant ambiance was nice.
I have dined here several times over the last year and thought some friends and I would attend the 5 year bash.
1. When we arrived for our reservation the hostess had not bothered to review our request for table location and we had to settle for seating elsewhere. She did apologize for not going over the reservation beforehand. (What was the sense in making an early reservation if your requests are not read. )
2. Our waiter was friendly but was lost when it came to the substance of the drink and dinner menus.
3. Our mixed drinks that included the bash specials and also from the house list all had a funny after taste. ( most were not finished)
4. When we ordered we had a couple requests in relation to food presentation and added seasoning to a couple of the dishes. One in piticuler was to have extra seasoning added to the blackened fish. That didn’t happen and we were not offered a further explanation as to why or even offered to change the order.
5. The salads that were brought were kale salads and not ceaser salads as ordered. Once again knowledge of the menu and what you are serving should be crucial.
6. The food arrived and it was all cool none of it was hot. We had items we did not order and we were missing items that we had ordered.
7. It seems as though most of the staff was young and not aware of how to service and engage with patrons.
8. Time should be taken to review reservations, menus and orders.
We tried several appetizers as well as entrees. Don’t go unless you try the Single Wide and the Pork Pillows! Everything, though, was quite good, and there was nothing typical on their menu. We enjoyed the variance from the usual selections offered most places. Our service was outstanding. The staff was attentive and personable. We were seated quickly. Beast and Barrel appears to be running like a well oiled machine!!
The food was all very good although a little pricey. The waiter was great, but the speed to get out food on sunday, was pretty bad. It took an hour, plus to get french toast, crab cakes on cornbread, and pastrami/potato hash...nothing in that order should have taken more than 30 minutes at the absolute most. The waiter apologized, but offered nothing in return, not a comped beverage or anything... I may go back to see if that was a fluke, but maybe not. The food was good, I will give them that.
We dined at Beast & Barrel for Easter Brunch, as we have for the last 3 years. It is usually delicious. This tome however they seemed to be struggling. Our server was a sweet young lady and very good at her job, we liked her. But our food took an excessive amount of time- people who were seated 20 minutes after our arrival received their food a considerable amount of time before we did. My wife’s grits came out very thick, not creamy at all, and my ribeye steak and eggs came out with the steak (ordered Med rare) quite well done. I returned it and the second one came out well after my wife and daughter had finished their meals, and it was very rare in the center.
I hope this experience was an anomaly, as B&B is one of our favorite restaurants in Chattanooga. We are rooting for them to get back on track!
Excellent service, amazing drink selection, and a brilliant menu make B&B a pretext choice for a date night or after work meeting!
We enjoyed our dinner at Beast and Barrel. We had been there once before and enjoyed it then.
The cheddar bacon Bisque was AMAZING. My family dined at Beast and Barrel as it was recommended from a friend. What a great recommendation! We really enjoyed our meal. Thank you!
Super friendly and knowledge staff. Had the duck burger which was excellent. Fried Brussels sprouts as a side....amazing. Great recommendations for cocktails. Fresh food well prepared. Will visit again when I am in town next.
I don’t know what happened. I used to recommend Beast and Barrel to anyone planning a trip to Chattanooga, but after Saturday’s experience, I cannot recommend nor will I visit again. The pulled pork tacos were like they were from a school cafeteria, sopping wet and luke-warm. The charcuterie plate selections were dried out and cold like they’d come out of the fridge and had been plated the day before. Beast and Barrel has been our go-to restaurant for years now, but not anymore.
Wait staff was decent but it took forever to get our food & drinks and there were only a few people in the bar. Bartender seemed more interested in cutting up watermelons rather than getting our drinks.
Waited for over an hour for the appetizer and meals because the waitstaff forgot to put our order in... Manager made amends by taking a large percentage off the bill and was very apologetic. Eat there about once every 6-8 weeks... Only bad experience I’ve had. Usually one of my favorites for brunch on the weekend.
Our steaks were surprisingly tough and did not have a good taste. We both ordered the Steak Frites. My Brussels sprouts were very good but not enough to justify the price of the meal or make me want to return.
Great atmosphere, great wait staff, great beer on tap.
This place used to be great, it has really gone downhill.
Everything was excellent tonight! Our server was perfect and so was the food.
Experience was great. Waiter very attentive!
Eaten at the establishment several times now and the food and drinks have been fantastic. It is a good value for the money and I have never had a bad meal.
My boyfriend and were visiting Chattanooga for his birthday, and he requested we eat here. I made reservations easily from their website/the open table link. I had no idea what to expect, as I'm not a huge meat-eater, but we both LOVED it! We went all out and tried multiple signature beverages, 2 appetizers, and 2 meals, of course, with extra sides. We got the ahi tuna app, hummus, chickpea burger (get the roasted red pepper aioli with it- so good!), gnocchi meal, and more! We didn't have room for dessert, but I bet it would have been great! In fact, we loved it so much that we came back the next morning for brunch. And that was even better! From the bloody mary and mimosa bars, to the chicken and waffles sandwich, savory quiche, and peach french toast, we were in love! And the prices are super reasonable for the quality of food and ambiance. Definitely recommend! The only thing I was a tad disappointed about was that I indicated on our reservation that we were there for a birthday and I told the waitress in person, yet nothing special was done for that. I was hoping there would be some acknowledgement since OpenTable gave me an opportunity to choose that as the occasion for the meal. But overall, excellent experience!
The service was extremely slow. It took about an hour for the food to come and the waitress only came to our table once during that hour. The food was delicious but definitely not worth the wait.
The food was delicious and prices are reasonable. Only one minor issue with my dinner. The bar staff is overwhelmed and it takes about 15 minutes to get your drink, whether you’re dining in or just sitting at the bar. Better management of the bar area is needed.
Overpriced. Small portions, slow service, kitchen. Not a good value.
The food was great. What made the night great was our server Charlotte. She was fantastic. She was
there to check on us at the right times. Made great recommendations on food and drinks. We were
glad our dinner plans at another location didn’t work out. All the staff were very friendly. Overall it was
a great experience.
