Beast and Barrel
We are not into the see and be seen…scene. We take our food and drink seriously; ourselves not so much. Our goal has never wavered; we've always worked to build the kind of place that we, as Chattanoogans would want to frequent. A real community hangout that just happens to hold the highest quality food and drink. We back our handmade goods and friendly face with the best value we can offer. From the day we open we will continue to grow, to strive for awesomeness and shape ourselves around the relationships we’ve forged with our neighbors our farmers and all those who pass through our doors. Taking nothing for granted, we see every day as a new opportunity to grow with our guests.

Pork + Pillows

We were running behind with our reservations and they were more than accommodating. The restaurant was very good about masks/social distancing. Our waiter was also helpful. The food was fine albeit somewhat bland, the cocktails slightly less so.
We were very disappointed with our meal. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer and the appetizer came out well before the drinks. The staff was friendly but food was terrible. I would NOT recommend this place!
Just ok. Probably wouldn’t return.
Great food, nice atmosphere, excellent service. Good location, appreciated the good air flow with garage doors open to the sidewalk.
Nice size portions..I had the meatloaf.,,was delicious!!
Great place! The food was great but the drinks were fantastic!
We showed up with a reservation at 12:45. We were early, but there were open tables everywhere!! Then, when we were seated 30 min later, they informed us they stopped serving brunch at 12:30 because they ran out of eggs!!! Brunch was why we were there and they.didn’t choose to tell us until we were being seated! At that point, we didn’t want to be there. The server was great, but we never saw the manager and the food took forever to get to us . Needless to say, we will never be back nor will we recommend this establishment to anyone.
The bisque was so salty and greasy I could not eat it. The server did not come to check on us, my husband finished his food before I was able to order anything else. Would not go back at this time.
I’ve been to Beast and Barrel several times and have inconsistent experiences. This experience was very good. The young lady that served us was professional, courteous, and attentive! I believe her name is Maddy.
Food was very good, an overall good evening!
Small Charcuterie was not what was listed on sheet and waiter did not know that not all the original items were there. Ribeye was ordered medium rare and came out tuna rare or simply seared depending on your vocabulary. Hostess told us it would be 45 minutes to an hour due to reservations because the place was empty when we walked in. While waiting out side I saw there were reservations open for every time slot in the next 30 minutes so we grabbed the earliest one available and beat our targeted seating time by over 30 minutes
It was brunch and I asked for a side of eggs with my French toast and they refused. They offered sausage or bacon instead saying that “they don’t make eggs to order”. I am vegetarian and this will not work for me. I then ordered a Bloody Mary that tasted like pure Campbell’s soup. It took one sip, and let the waitress know the issue. She told me that we would still have to pay for it despite not drinking it... I asked her why that would be the case seeing that I had one sip and finally the manager took it off the ticket. The food came out super cold and bland. I never write reviews but this was exceptionally terrible. We have decided to choose elsewhere in the future.
It was just OK. We got seated in the open air bar area, which was lovely. It took way too long to get a beer though. Between the time it took a wait staff to come, and the time it took the bartender to pour the beer. Then the food all came out instantaneously just after the beer. So not well timed at all. So all and all - it was OK. Keep in mind this is during COVID times, so everything is all messed up everywhere. Wasn't bad - just wasn't great.
The brunch at Beast and Barrel was fantastic! We loved everything including the eggs benedict, quiche, brussel sprouts and delicious french fries. They also have a great selection of affordable draft beers and mixed drinks. We loved sitting in the open air front of the restaurant and doing a bit of people watching. The service was not the best, but what does one expect in the time of COVID. I am just thankful that there are servers there to take care of us! Thank you for a great brunch!
The overall dining experience was very underwhelming. We have been visiting different brunch locations throughout the city for the past couple of months and this was by far our worst experience. One in our party ordered the salmon Benedict and the hollandaise tasted of nothing but butter and was thick like whipped butter. My wife got the shrimp and grits. The shrimp and sausage were flavorful but the grits were thick and dry with minimal sauce. I got the Big Katz. The sandwich was great but fires were served luke warm. We also got a chef’s choice meat and cheese tray and the server just dropped it off with no description of the product. To top off our lackluster experience, our server dumped an entire glass of ice water in my adult son’s lap soaking his pants and shirt. At no point after this happened were we offered a towel, or extra napkins, for him to dry off with. I would have a thought this would have at least warranted a cost from the manager. The server dried the seat of the booth and left the ice and water all in the floor and walkway. We had to make the hostess aware of the spill for it to be finally cleaned up. Sad to say but Beast and Barrel will not be part of our restaurant rotation.
It was absolutely amazing! 10/10 have to come back!! Thank you so much!
If I could give no stars I would.... took two hours to get our food, she forgot to put all of it in, some cake out cold, waitress told us they were out of all salads except Caesar but then we saw another table get salads that we were told was out... she brought us the wrong drinks we asked for straws and I ended up having to get up and go to the bar to get straws. We had a child that needed his meal sooner than ours and it did not come out until two hours later... it was a grilled cheese.. that takes no time. There were 4 racks that were seated after we had ordered and they still got their meals before us.
Awful awful would never recommend
Lydia is awesome!!
No wait w the reservation. Nice! Great beer selection.
Server was super meek; it was hard to hear anything she said. The layout of the restaurant didn’t help with that. We were near the open storefront and street noise.
Learned 5-10 minutes after we ordered that they were out of burgers. Burgers. Not much left for the teenager when you take away that option. Went with the chick pea burger.
Not sure if the burger thing flummoxed the kitchen, but everything took forever to come out. No manager check in, no apology. Just us, reminding our server multiple times of what we still needed.
Salmon was good, corned beef was great, charcuterie was ok. Decent spot, and not too pricey for a casual night out. Just not amazing.
The food, drinks were delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend this place for dinner.
We had the Meatloaf, pork chops and pork pillows.
Crystal was fantastic as our server. Super helpful and super fun. Great food, great service!
Service was so slow, we ended up leaving.
Unfortunately, the food was simply NOT good. Surprisingly, the drinks were simple to make and also NOT good at all.
Awesome. Food and service were amazing. Definitely worth a visit when in Chattanooga
Food was very disappointing. It was very hot inside. The booth was very cramped for 4 people (2 adults and 2 children).
I was very excited about the menu offerings. Once we got our food it was not great. Over cooked and over priced. Servers were nice though.
Server was very slow and kept forgetting to bring out our orders.
We ordered the Steak Frites and Pork&Pillows and both were DELISH! We also saw numerous other items that looked great. Totally recommend and already planning on bringing friends here.
The service was the best part of the dinner. However, the food was edible at best. Had the cheesy bacon bit soup and it was so salty it could not be eaten. The mashed potatoes had a very unusual flavor which made them not so good.
I ate here the first time I visited Chattanooga and I make it a point to come back every time I’m in the area. The food is reeeally good. Especially the pastrami salmon! Our waitress was really helpful and with her recommendation I got the best old fashion I’ve had in a while.
We wanted to celebrate my daughter’s achievement of a Doctorate from UTC. We’ve enjoyed coming to Beast and Barrel for several years now and wanted to come one last time before she left Chattanooga. As always, the food was fabulous and the service was great.
Nice ambiance, very clean. We sat outside really enjoyed everything going on at Coolidge park. My family was disappointed in the brunch menu items to say the least. Our food wasn’t hot upon arrival to the table however the manager came out and she was very apologetic for the delay in our food . We will probably try this place again one day. Our server was excellent she was the only server for the patio. She did her best and we tipped her well.
Great place to sit and enjoy a cocktail. This a place for foodies.
Excellent food and a lovely atmosphere at a great price. Everything was wonderful and I am so excited to make this the new staple!
Doing a good job executing Covid-19 mandates. Masks required at this time.
This was a special occasion and we had been here once before. We came back because we were so impressed with the food and the service. We had a party member that is vegan and they were able to accommodate them beautifully They made a custom bread appetizer just for them. Perfect evening with friends in a perfect place. Food, music, atmosphere. Upscale but casual so the same time.
Fantastic meal, great service. Only complaint was that the meat was incredibly over cooked.
Was not overly impressed with food or service.
Horrible food. Steaks had no flavor. We sent the food back largely uneaten, and they still tried to bring us a bill for the full amount. It took getting the manager over to remove the charges.
First, date night with my wife in a while. We both really enjoyed it.
Waitress was nice and attentive. Some of the food good, some not. However, they comped us for one awful entree and a replacement cheeseburger was excellent.
