Beast and Barrel
We are not into the see and be seen…scene. We take our food and drink seriously; ourselves not so much. Our goal has never wavered; we've always worked to build the kind of place that we, as Chattanoogans would want to frequent. A real community hangout that just happens to hold the highest quality food and drink. We back our handmade goods and friendly face with the best value we can offer. From the day we open we will continue to grow, to strive for awesomeness and shape ourselves around the relationships we’ve forged with our neighbors our farmers and all those who pass through our doors. Taking nothing for granted, we see every day as a new opportunity to grow with our guests.

Fantastic meal, great service. Only complaint was that the meat was incredibly over cooked.
First, date night with my wife in a while. We both really enjoyed it.
Waitress was nice and attentive. Some of the food good, some not. However, they comped us for one awful entree and a replacement cheeseburger was excellent.
Friendly staff and good location!
Although it is in a great location, it was not worth the money in the end. The food was mediocre. The staff was very nice and the restaurant was clean.
Pretentious and overrated. The food is presented as if it’s something special but it just isn’t. Should focus more on taste.
First time, absolutely thrilled with the food and the outstanding service. Anthony did everything possible to make the meal perfect. I had the bison meatloaf. It had to have been two pounds. Incredible. First time I have had sweet potato fried chunks that I not only liked, but loved. My partner had the ribeye and it is the first time in a long time that we have gotten a steak that was as large as we expected and was prepared exactly as ordered, to perfection. One of the best dining experiences we have had anywhere.
London was an incredible server who made excellent recommendations. Food was great. Drinks were delicious. We keep coming back for all of these reasons.
We waited 15 minutes to be seated with a reservation. They were not that busy just disorganized. We waited for an hour for our food. Both of our orders were missing items and some of it was cold. The quality of the food was poor as well.
Went for Sunday brunch and will not be back. It’s been a couple years since I had been to Beast and Barrel.... very disappointed. Used to be one of my favorites whenever I lived in Chattanooga. Cutting lots of corners, food has no flavor, service was poor. Had to wait 10min to be seated when we had a reservation and the restaurant was next to empty. Once we finished what we could of the food, waited THIRTY minutes for our server to check on us to bring the bill. Had to put salt on all of our food, everything was way under seasoned. Restaurant seems to be going downhill... seemed short staffed, food used to be amazing and far from it now, even things like using Heinz when they used to make their own ketchup. I’m never one to write bad reviews but this was unacceptable.
I will start by saying that our service was fantastic, and our server was incredibly polite. However, our food was bland at best, and it took 50 minutes to arrive. I had the duck burger and my husband had the blackberry mignon. Both of these were subpar considering the price and the wait time. I think going during a less busy time and ordering some other options would have helped.
Outstanding food and service! We had such a wonderful experience and all the food was phenomenal. Would highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time! The food was excellent I wish that I had gotten to try the fillet unfortunately they were out but they subbed a ribeye that was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the goat cheese whipped mashed potatoes the drinks were fabulous it was busy so we had to wait a little while for the food but it was well worth it!
First time at Beast and Barrel. The motif is exactly what you think it should be with a name like, Beast and Barrel. Lots of dark wood, steel, and leather. Huge, beautiful bar. Old black and white photos from prohibition, here and there. Their food wad amazing! Their local beer wad amazing! Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. Couldn't have asked for better service. It was all i could talk about at work, Monday. My new favorite spot in Chattanooga. Canner wait to go back!
Great atmosphere. Great location. Brunch was outstanding!
Everything was perfect from the service to the food!
We LOVE Beast + Barrel! The food took a little long to get out, but otherwise, it was an absolutely perfect evening. The live music for Valentine’s Day was perfect—not too loud, but enough to put a nice touch to the night. Anthony was fantastic. So nice. If the Beast Mac was on the regular menu, my fiancé and I would order it EVERY time! Delicious!
Our server just didn’t know how to leave us alone for Valentine’s day and the food just wasn’t what it normally is there.
My risotto was SO good. My husband's fried chicken is the best either of us have ever had. The goat cheese mashed potatoes and the gravy it came with was phenomenal. The egg rolls were delicious, the fries with the pulled pork and coleslaw was outstanding. The apple bacon yam was really good. The drinks we had were excellent. Our server Anthony was an absolute joy. Overall amazing experience.
I would like to believe that if there are more servers working in a restaurant than the quantity of tables with guests, that the service would be very attentive, not the case today. It took a while to be greeted, and also a while to get coffee. Even longer to get refills.
Of the two dishes we ordered, the Shrimp & Grits was good. The House Pastrami Hash had a lot of potential, but unfortunately, barely warm potatoes made it a disappointment. By texture and temperature, I do not think that the potatoes were prepared today, and definitely not in the same pan with the Pastrami, because it was hot, and so were the eggs on top. They remade the potatoes, and the were OK, but 'Hash' should incorporated together so the flavors can meld.
I would give a higher rating for the food as they attempted to correct the potato issue, but the service was still rather slow.
Our family had dinner there for my dad’s birthday. The food was delicious and the server was great!
Great food and drink specials. Attentive & friendly waiter.
Service was awful it took forever to get drinks and food. Food was subpar for the price also.
Great atmosphere, amazing food with excellent service.
Service needs help. Food was good. Large portions for price. Lots of interesting things on the menu, but service was just pitiful. Asked for bread, never got it. Very slow to greet us. But did address the food allergy appropriately.
Love this place. Best steak in Chattanooga. Half the price of some of the other steak houses and better food
Wonderful atmosphere and great food. Great wine as well.
My girlfriend and I visited for a New Year’s Eve date, this place was BUSY and our server was truly busting it to make our night special.
Their steak frites is DELICIOUS.
My whiskey flight was also top notch.
All around we had a great experience, we’ll be back again!
Food was great but the service was abysmal. Our waiter disappeared midway through our meal never to be seen again. Had to ask twice for a steak knife that should have arrived with the steak. Took forever to get drinks. Food came out lukewarm. Granted it was a busy night (New Years eve) but this is without a doubt the worst service I’ve ever had at any restaurant.
New Year’s Eve. Super busy staff did as best as they could. Long wait times for drinks food. Food good.
We had a nice Christmas dinner at Beast and Barrel. Would recommend the meatloaf, highly! Service was a little slow, but that could have been due to it being Christmas night.
Had a reservation for 8 at 5:30. We did not get our food until 8pm. I get it was Christmas but the restaurant was empty by the time we got our food.
It took 45 minutes to be sat for a reservation. Then another 30 for drinks and 60 for cold appetizers. No silver, no app plates, no refills. There was no line to get in to explain the wait. They simply didn’t bother to staff enough people or people skilled enough for restaurant service. They wouldn’t last a week in a larger city with more competition.
Christmas Day and it was quite lovely. The ONLY negative was that they appeared understaffed for the number of people there. Reservations were required so it would seem they should have been prepared.
Food was wonderful. Prepared well. Very tasty! Servers were great. Efficient, friendly but not in your face.
Service was good food not so much
Much better food in the area for the price first time for brunch and our last have eaten dinner here several times much better then but will not be returning for anymore meals
Wonderful place to eat in East Chattanooga. Fresh and delicious food with top-notch service!
Great happy hour deals. It was a bit dark inside for daytime and hard to see. Yummy food
We’ve been there for dinner and it’s been delicious and always had a good experience. However, we went for brunch the other day and the food took a long time to come out even though there weren’t many people there, our server forgot our water, then took a long time to come take our order after we asked to have a couple minutes (it took 10 for her to come back), and finally the food was pretty cold when it came out! It tasted good but it wasn’t like the restaurant was busy. It should have been more fresh, especially for the price. We won’t be going for brunch again.
We were there on a Sunday evening around 630 - there was 5 of us for a business casual dinner. We were seated in a great quiet booth - super comfy and easy to talk. The server was fantastic - she was very informative, helpful and extremely pleasant. The drinks from the cocktail menu were amazing - would love to try them all . Menu had great options and the Food served did not fail at all. simply wonderful!!!!
