Beast and Barrel
We are not into the see and be seen…scene. We take our food and drink seriously; ourselves not so much. Our goal has never wavered; we've always worked to build the kind of place that we, as Chattanoogans would want to frequent. A real community hangout that just happens to hold the highest quality food and drink. We back our handmade goods and friendly face with the best value we can offer. From the day we open we will continue to grow, to strive for awesomeness and shape ourselves around the relationships we’ve forged with our neighbors our farmers and all those who pass through our doors. Taking nothing for granted, we see every day as a new opportunity to grow with our guests.

Love this place. Best steak in Chattanooga. Half the price of some of the other steak houses and better food
Wonderful atmosphere and great food. Great wine as well.
My girlfriend and I visited for a New Year’s Eve date, this place was BUSY and our server was truly busting it to make our night special.
Their steak frites is DELICIOUS.
My whiskey flight was also top notch.
All around we had a great experience, we’ll be back again!
Food was great but the service was abysmal. Our waiter disappeared midway through our meal never to be seen again. Had to ask twice for a steak knife that should have arrived with the steak. Took forever to get drinks. Food came out lukewarm. Granted it was a busy night (New Years eve) but this is without a doubt the worst service I’ve ever had at any restaurant.
New Year’s Eve. Super busy staff did as best as they could. Long wait times for drinks food. Food good.
We had a nice Christmas dinner at Beast and Barrel. Would recommend the meatloaf, highly! Service was a little slow, but that could have been due to it being Christmas night.
Had a reservation for 8 at 5:30. We did not get our food until 8pm. I get it was Christmas but the restaurant was empty by the time we got our food.
It took 45 minutes to be sat for a reservation. Then another 30 for drinks and 60 for cold appetizers. No silver, no app plates, no refills. There was no line to get in to explain the wait. They simply didn’t bother to staff enough people or people skilled enough for restaurant service. They wouldn’t last a week in a larger city with more competition.
Christmas Day and it was quite lovely. The ONLY negative was that they appeared understaffed for the number of people there. Reservations were required so it would seem they should have been prepared.
Food was wonderful. Prepared well. Very tasty! Servers were great. Efficient, friendly but not in your face.
Service was good food not so much
Much better food in the area for the price first time for brunch and our last have eaten dinner here several times much better then but will not be returning for anymore meals
Wonderful place to eat in East Chattanooga. Fresh and delicious food with top-notch service!
Great happy hour deals. It was a bit dark inside for daytime and hard to see. Yummy food
We’ve been there for dinner and it’s been delicious and always had a good experience. However, we went for brunch the other day and the food took a long time to come out even though there weren’t many people there, our server forgot our water, then took a long time to come take our order after we asked to have a couple minutes (it took 10 for her to come back), and finally the food was pretty cold when it came out! It tasted good but it wasn’t like the restaurant was busy. It should have been more fresh, especially for the price. We won’t be going for brunch again.
We were there on a Sunday evening around 630 - there was 5 of us for a business casual dinner. We were seated in a great quiet booth - super comfy and easy to talk. The server was fantastic - she was very informative, helpful and extremely pleasant. The drinks from the cocktail menu were amazing - would love to try them all . Menu had great options and the Food served did not fail at all. simply wonderful!!!!
Super friendly server with awesome suggestions paired with incredible food. Such a great experience.
The food was pretty good, our server was outstanding, but I had to wear my coat all though dinner to stay warm and it was really noisy.
Great burger, good wine selection, very helpful staff.
Am sorry to say that we did not get our server’s name but she was great. When we visit Chattanooga we always try to eat there...always good food and service.
In town to visit kids & grandkids. Made a last minute reservation after our reservation at STIR didn’t work out (they couldn’t find a table to accommodate a high chair for our 2 yr old grandson). We were 4 adults, 2 yr old & 9 yr old. B&B were so accommodating in setting us up at a good table. Service was very cheerful & prompt which was great since we were all starving. Food was good. Afterwards, after our kids & grandkids had left, hubby & I stayed behind & sat at the bar for a couple of after dinner drinks. Really liked the ambiance at this place!
A fun place to gather with friends. Food offered an interesting twist on old favorites. Got us out of our comfort zone and into a good place.
Food was great and the service was excellent. Our server was well versed on the menu and gave some great suggestions. The drinks were awesome and the environment was top notch. We will definitely be coming back.
Would definitely recommend! We were seated right away. Our server was AMAZING! Something must have happened in the kitchen because we waited for 45 minutes for our food! But everything tasted delicious and they did give us a small discount for our wait. Would go back for sure!
Great dinner experience! The drinks are phenomenal and the dinner was exceptional.
Restaurant was nice and service good. But that’s where it ended....
Scallops were rubbery and potatoes undercooked.
Filet was good and well prepared. Risotto was worst I have ever had...
Great food great service will be back
Enjoyed our meal great service
Good food, had a great time!
My husband and I went out for a date to Beast and Barrel, we waited an hour for our food to arrive, there was no bread or anything prior to the meal like we usually receive, we were told that none was available. Once we got our food, mine was good, my husbands was okay, just doesn’t seem like it was worth the $73 considering how long we had to wait for our food to come out, it was not busy at the time we were there so it shouldn’t have taken that long, and it would have been nice to have something prior to the meal considering how long we had to wait.
Unfortunately, we didn’t love our meal. We waited an hour to eat, 2 of our table mate’s foods came out cold (and it wasn’t supposed to be), our waitress forgot to refill our beverages. She was nice but seemed overwhelmed. It was a Saturday night but not a packed restaurant and tables around us got served before us, even though they sat down after us. We were disappointed. My Bloody Mary was good though and the manager did make good by discounting our tickets. We appreciated that.
Banh mi tacos were delish as was the Brussels sprouts. Only 2 disappointments were when the hostess seated us next to the bathroom (despite every single booth there was wide open) and they were out of stock on Bombay Sapphire and did not have any stuffed olives for my gin martini. Bartender saved the night by coming to our table and offering sugg to swap out gin and even offered to make some of the stuffed olives herself! Big points for her service!!
We were the only ones in the restaurant when we first got there as an early dinner. Overall it was a pleasant meal. The restrooms need to be cleaned.
On this occasion we were looking for something different as we are locals and eating out is kind of a hobby.
The service as well as his knowledge was superior. The food was a huge let down. We ordered the daily special of lemon ginger hummus it was served with 4 pitas chips and 2 cucumbers we had to ask for more chips. Two of our group ordered ribeyes both were tough and unaged, served atop the shoestring fries making them soggy, I ordered the crescent city chicken. It was over cooked and tough it was on goat cheese potatoes that I couldn't taste any goat cheese in and topped with breakfast gravy. A total white plate both lacking in proper technique as well as flavor. The side appeared to be frozen chopped turnip greens, from a Culinary view point the entire meal demonstrated lack of attention to detail. On the upside the crab cakes and the cocktail menu was creative and prepared well. Kudos to the bar tender and service team. Kitchen needs lessons on technique.
135 dollars for 3 plates later and a lesson learned.
A flawless birthday dinner. Thank you!!!
We were excited to try this restaurant, but will not return.
Our table was a booth and there simply wasn’t enough room for all the tables they had because there was barely room to slide into the seat (we are not large people). Additionally, both the table and the seats were very wobbly. We ordered coffee and food- my meal was good, my husband’s chicken was overcooked, and no one ever checked on us for refills. My husband walked to the from of the restaurant asking for a coffee refill and it was still several minutes before anyone refilled our empty cups. This was a very disappointing experience.
Service was fine. It took an hour to get our entrees. Food was terrible. I ordered my steak med rare. It came out blue rare...still cold in the middle. I sent it back, and they just continued cooking the same steak, so it was tough. Husband's ribeye was flavorless and tough. Goat cheese whipped potatoes were cold and needed salt. Overpriced. Disappointing.
Restaurant was out of many options, service took 2 hours, food was cold for 4 of the 6 guests in our group
Service was TERRIBLE. Took 20 minutes, after flagging someone down, to get ONE glass of water brought to the table (for 4 people). Took just as long for refills. Hummus plate took 25 minutes to arrive. My kids were starving. We were charged for extra pita to go with the hummus. Then the salmon dinner was gross, tasted fishy, and we sent it back after 1 bite. The waitress acted like she did us a huge favor when she took it off the bill. It wasn't even that crowded, and we arrived early for our reservation. Would definitely not recommend.
Waited over an hour for food. Way over priced and takes advantage of tourists who will not likely return. Horrible service and did very little to rectify situation.
