Bearfoot Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Special thanks to Andre for being our phenomenal host and story teller of Napoleon Bonaparte's champagne sabering. The waitresses were also super accommodating and friendly. They not only cleared up a scheduling misunderstooding but also provided impeccable service to my business partners!
The starters and deserts were amazing, but the main course was disappointing. The fish was nothing to write home about and the pork chop was barely any meat, mostly fat. Overall its a nice place, but for the price I was expecting every course to be top notch.
Our meal at Bearfoot Bistro was superb. We ordered the 5 course tasting menu. Because didn't want red meat, they customized a seafood menu for us.
My wife really appreciated getting a dark colored napkin that wouldn't leave white dust on her dark dress. Bearfoot Bistro pays this level of attention to everything they do. They really made our dinner a special event.
My wife and I were amazed! This is no bistro. This is among our best restaurant experiences ever. I had the 5 course tasting menu. My wife ordered alternate choices from the regular menu. I also ordered the 5 course paired wine tastings. All the courses were outstanding., as were the thoughtful wine pairings. The "amuse bouche" was a small, round explosion of flavor. Paul, the sommelier, was very knowledgeable and dignified yet friendly as he explained
each of the wines. Michael, our waiter, was professional and also very personable. We particularly enjoyed his after dinner tour through their impressive wine cellar.
This was our first trip to Whistler and I cannot imagine returning to Whistler without dinner at the Bearfoot Bistro's again.
The food was good but our waiter was very rushed/impatient. We sat down and we wanted a drink but hadn't looked at the wine/cocktail list. He left and didn't come back for 15 min to take our drink order. Any time he asked a question as to what we wanted if we hesitated at all he would leave the table - while I don't mind normally that they do this so as not to rush you, he seemed frustrated that we hadn't made a decision (dessert ) and didn't reappear for 15+ Minutes. The reality was that we had a question about a menu item but he left before we could ask the question. We finally flagged down the manager when again we were being ignored (it appeared the waiter only had 3-4 tables) and wanted the check. When we pointed out the waiter's impatience he said that he had been with the restaurant a long time and was surprised. This was the first time in a very long time I did not leave a tip as well as complain to a manager. Take note also that even though it is a set 3 or 5 course menu, fixed price , many items are another $12-20 per person. For example flat iron steak is included but black angus reserve is $22.00 extra. Halibut is $10 extra. That seams excessive. The atmosphere is nice , wine choices were good , tortellini and morel asparagus appetizer was good. Caramel desert rubbery.
The night before we stopped in for a drink and ordered a cheese plate. The bartender went off shift and never told us he was leaving (only 3 of us at the bar) also never put in the cheese plate order. So two nights in a row of lackluster service is not such a good thing.
Finally , we told them weeks ahead that we were celebrating our birthdays and although that was acknowledged , no special dessert , candle , happy birthday written anywhere etc.
This used to be our "go to" place when we used to come to Whistler every year living on Seattle. Fifteen years later we wanted to come to our favorite restaurant in a Whistler and was a bit disappointed. We remember a warm, cozy upscale restaurant lit up by the fireplace and were instead greeted by a hostess outside in a hotel lobby? Loud noise inside and food portions leaving us hungry. Sad but true
This is the BEST restaurant in Whistler!! The food, the service, the wines and drinks are absolutely, absolutely amazing. Truly one of the best restaurants and experiences we have eaten at in our travels. Can't wait to bring our daughter with us the next time. Don't forget to try out the Vodka tasting room! Many thanks to our server, Andrew, and our sommelier, Collin, for a spectacular night.
A little pretentious to start but very impressed by our young Australian waiter, who was friendly and knowledgeable. Also the waitress who served the food, explaining what everything was in detail. We were not rushed but served competently with fresh cutlery and the empty plates were not removed until we had both finished the course we were on - well trained staff!
They push the tasting menu and the a la cart prices are not listed. Even on the tasting menu most items listed require an additional up charge of $10 to $40 per item. Service was inattentive (I wanted to purchase another glass of wine but couldn't get the attention of anyone to place the order) and the pheasant I ordered was only ok. Lamb shank was good. The kids was very good and was a good value. The staff was very nice and seemed service oriented so perhaps they were just too busy.
