You can't beat the scenery. Their food has gone downhill recently. Custard french toast was very soggy, and the Tuna tar tar has been changed to be more 'poke' themed with obvious coloring. Service wasn't bad, but it just wasn't good. We had a waiter that smiled a lot and i think there was a bit of a language barrier. He never checked on us after we received the food.
Hope they can tighten a few corners and bring it back to 5 star status.
Outstanding food and service
Great overall. Excellent service and nicely-prepared meals.
When I made the reservation, I indicated it was a special occasion and what we were celebrating. Yet, no one at the restaurant was aware of that or acknowledged it. When the Owner / CEO of one of the top Hollywood talent agencies comes to your restaurant to celebrate a success, don't you think it would be a good idea to acknowledge her?
I thought it a little pricy for what you got. There is currently construction on the beach do that is unattractive. Glad we were there for happy hour or it would have been more pricey. It was OK but I won’t be in a rush to go back.
good food, drinks, hospitality, poor table service - could seem to figure out who was our server. drinks
From the hostess station to the food service was sub par!
I have stayed at the Jamaican Bay Inn for yrs and eat most of my meals at the hotel. My local friend meet me for the great cocktail bar and food. Never again!
Hostess and restaurant manager were unfriendly and one night we had reservations we left (due to no one ever came to our table) and the hostess and manager never said a word. Hostess was unkept, bad grammar, bad attitude.
2 nights later we had reservations, we were seated, the waiter never offered water when asked suggestions he was not helpful, we ordered, food finally arrived, crab cake dinner, served burned on one side cold in center from the frozen food bag, my order was a crab cake appetizer only, we had iced tea and one cocktail, total was $78.00 plus tip so almost a $100.00. Waite never asked if we needed anything else, this was on a slow night. AVOID this place!
Bad experience overall so sad used to be our favorite place in Marina del Rey.
The ambience was fantastic. The food was great and our server Suzy made us feel very important. We never needed anything. We will definitely be back!
The server was excellent, the food was great (we had the clambake that they offer during the summer), we enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine with the view. The only drawback was that the hostesses who seated us were not as friendly and accommodating as they could’ve been. They seemed rushed and a bit terse. At one point I stopped to ask one of them about ordering a special dessert for my friend’s birthday, and she said “sure, we can do that, just find your server.” I had to wander all over the floor to try and find our server, because she was busy picking up orders in the kitchen. The hostess should have offered to help me with that. Otherwise, a great experience!
Great place to meet friends from out of town. Views of the Marina and finally great outdoor table heaters! It gets cold by the water, so this is a plus.
We celebrated MOther's Day, it was very special. Our hostess, was very accommodating, we changed our RSVN from 4 to 5 people last minute. Very gracious and new set up quickly! We sat outside on the patio overlooking the Marina, beautiful setting. It was a bit overcast, lap blankets and heat lamps were provided (we wanted to sit outside), very thoughtful.
Our waitress was wonderful and warm, which only added to our celebration. Due to Mother's Day, the menu was limited, but there was something for everyone. The food was good, but a bit pricey. However the patio, view and hospitality are worth it. Definitely going back, but next time I think I'd go for happy hour and small bites.
They didnt have my OpenTable reservation. OpenTable confirmed the table but they said they didnt have any reservation in my name.
always a favorite spot, to look at the ocean and the boats of Marina Del Rey. The humus is delish !
Our waiter JB was great! Food was delicious. My husband and I eat there at least once a month.
Well first of all this restaurant is great on all counts.
HOWEVER, IT IS NOT A MEMBER OF OPEN TABLE. At least according to the manager who informed us of that fact and that they do not open for brunch on Sundays at 9:45 AM, which was what our reservation with you was set for.
So great restaurant, but we were left with friends, and no nearby place to eat before sending them on their way at the airport. Very disappointing Open Table!
Visiting from out of town and had local friends meet us here for breakfast. Good service, not at all rushed, and everyone enjoyed their brunch.
Excellent sea food and pastas. The tuna tartare was amazing and the lobster pasta had more lobster than I would have expected. The whole dining experience was way better than many of the other more famous restaurants. I will certainly come back.
Great 👍 dinner
Love the place
Took forever to take the plates and to get refills
We had an outstanding waiter, and the rest of the staff was truly friendly and accommodating.
BUT, the food was not good, small portions and no decent accompaniments for the entrees. And the prices are too high for what is served.
We've been to this restaurant for brunch and had good experiences with decent food. We will go again for brunch, but definitely not for dinner.
We spent one night in the hotel in early April as part of a family trip with four adults and two children, 6 & 8 years old.
For adults, the place is great. Cool, modern vibe and bar - indoor and out.
The children's menu is exactly what you'd expect and the waitstaff were very cool with the kids but we found the ambiance in the main restaurant was a bit too adult and stiff for dinner. Maybe we were just unlucky with the weather - outside would have been great but it was too cold this April.
Breakfast the following morning in the same place was fine
Great food. Okay service. View will be great after they finish construction.
The arugula salad, salmon on a plank, and crab cakes were delish. Attentive waiter. Relaxed atmosphere; not stuffy. Requested beachfront view and were seated outdoors. Got chilly but the heat lamp worked great. Chain-link fence on path in front of beach but lots of palm trees; nice view. Enjoyed the retro 80’s music; wasn’t too loud. Great choice for a special occasion.
I had the worst experience at this restaurant. Got kicked out on my birthday night, which was a Saturday at 10:30 p.m. they didn't even let us finish our bottle of wine which we bought at the restaurant! We were rushed out from the second we stepped in. They didn't even want to let us stay to finish the wine on the terrasse outside by the fire. They turned off the fire outside and left us when it was only 50 degrees outside. Security kept checking on us to make sure we would leave. Worst experience and service. Management was rude and not understanding at all and made my birthday night unpleasant. They didn't even offer compensation on the bill.
We were never warned when making the reservation for 9 that the kitchen closes at 10 and the restaurant at 11 so if you are not done between these times you are kicked out. Never going back there again and definitely do not recommend to anyone.
We went for date night and enjoyed and appreciated Kenny our server. He had great positive energy and made the evening even nicer.
Not crazy about the remodel inside, but at least the menu is still solid. Sitting outside is wonderful. Great views, casual atmosphere. Friendly service and good food. Prices are fair.
Landing in Marina del Rey from the East Coast later in the evening a couple of Saturdays ago, was happy to find a reservation at walk-able from our hotel - Beachside Restaurant. Unfortunately, LA was in a cold spell or would have really enjoyed sitting outside. The Cedar Planked Salmon was delicious and prepared exactly to order, the Charred Shishito Peppers were wonderful, and the Shitake and Basil Turkey Burger was good and filling. We ordered dessert for a change: The Blueberry Cobbler needed more blueberry and sauce; the cheesecake was adequate - beautifully presented. Our only major complaint here is for some reason the chairs scrape across the floor like the scratching across a chalkboard - loud, cringe making and disturbing!
Great service and great food
We made a last minute reservation for lunch on a beautiful sunny Friday. Lovely to sit overlooking the water. Good menu, with plenty of choice and variety. Between the four of us we had a steak salad (generous portion and nicely cooked steak, with lots of salad), a crab, arugula and pine nut salad (delicious and light), pea soup (not quite as expected, looked more like minestrone soup), sushi and calamari (which was a little chewy). We then shared a delicious desert of blueberries, with a crumble topping and vanilla ice cream. Our server was attentive and friendly. We were served promptly, but not rushed. Would recommend and would return.
Great customer service. Friendly staff. Yummy food
Mixed review. One meal was very good, the other not so much. Service started out good, but then slid and we had to wait for a long time. Cocktails overpriced and undersized.
Lovely setting overlooking the marina. Food was quite good.
Neighborhood gem overlooking Mother's Beach. Good food! Hostess and service was slow, but waitress was friendly.
Loved the restaurant. Easy parking, good service and good value with a nice view.
Thoroughly enjoyable evening and wonderful service
We had a great dinner and then sat outside for the New Year’s Eve fireworks, and toast.
Met a friend for breakfast and had a fabulous one. Entrée of Scrambled eggs and potatoes with a side of lox. Delicious!
Very peaceful, great views of the water, and great food!
Had a wonderful Sunday brunch at Beachside. The view was wonderful and the service from our waiter Robbie was wonderful. Food was delicious as well. Recommend sitting outside for the full view benefit.
