Beachhouse - Moana Surfrider

Me and my husband had the worst experience ever. We visited the restaurant to celebrate my birthday and honeymoon. Not once did our server ask if we are celebrating any occasion. And our server his name is Branden never once paid attention to us and I think it is due to we are young looking Asian. We felt racially profiled at that point because he never once ask us how we were doing or if we were enjoying our food. Instead an Asian bus boy was the only one that was actually serving us. We saw how our server checked up on everyone else especially on our table next to us who were “white race” but never checked up on us. Very disappointed in this restaurant at all. This was the very first time we felt discriminated. We do not recommend this restaurant. This ruined our last day for our honeymoon.
Beautiful location on the beach with great views. Recommend going at sunset. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious... had the filet that was cooked to perfection. Even had room for dessert... the peanut butter crunch was out of this world. Highly recommend!
My husband surprised me with a date night at the Beachhouse and timed it right at sunset. It was absolutely perfect! The location/views are beautiful and the ambience is lovely! The food was superb! The crab cakes melt in your mouth, Hubby said the lamb was the best he has had in a long time and he loved the lobster fried rice. My lobster tail was perfect, salad greens were fresh and the carrot cake was delish! Our waiter was attentive, friendly and efficient.
Steak and lamb was rare when we asked for medium rare. When they took it back they just heated up the steaks and some parts were well done.
Souper entre amoureux
I have been going to the Beachouse for several years. Will not go again until they improve their act. Their menue is horrible and overpriced. If you want a pathetic looking $55 6Oz steak, or three little shrimp in a $19 “shrimp coctail” this is the place for you. I will not waste another penny.
Wonderful dinner and beautiful view. I had Parmesan mashed potatoes, Mauai onion soup and the peanut butter dessert. My husband had the fish stew and pineapple upside down cake. Everything was great.
Historical hotel originally called Moans hotel, later bought by Westin. Recommend to make reservations ahead of time. Very friendly staffs. Great foods. Spectacle ocean view. An old tree in the middle which was there since 1920's when the hotel was first built.
I booked this dinner THREE months in advance and was VERY disappointed to be told we would have to wait (no time frame given) to sit on the verandah. The hostess was rude and spoiled the ambience from the outset. We were then led to a table that was placed over an air conditioning vent that was so cold staff were trying to block the air flow with a plank of wood. We asked to be moved and were then sat on a table in the middle of the room that had sofas as seats not ideal for dining.
Waitress was polite and accommodating, food and wine okay.
Overall this dinner did not live up to previous dining experiences and I walked away disappointed as this was our last night in Waikiki.
Selected this for my husband’s 40th bday. Food is great, quite pricey but I was expecting that given the quality of the food and the venue. Service on the other hand was horrible and not appropriate for the price. We waited every step of the meal, for our order to be taken, for my husband’s drink which was just from a bottle, for food tobe served - and then they failed to serve our side dish. We had to wait before we were able to call the attention of another waitstaff - and then when our waiter came to see us he didn’t even realize our order was incomplete (which would’ve been avoided if he checked on us after the food was served). We were at the end of our meal when the potatoes were served. And again it was a wait to get the check.
Again food was great, valet is efficient, and the lady who sat us is really nice. Our server however turned us off.
The food is great, but overpriced more than is reasonable. We were looking for high end for the Xmas holiday but this was just too much for what we received. Perhaps if the service was better we might have felt differently. One of our party ordered 2 appetizers-an app and as a meal, both came together. Our drinks never came. It was not worth the price.
The first time I visited the restaurant in 2017 it was a hit, I don't think that my wife and I have enjoyed a better time out before. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same this year, maybe because it was Christmas Eve, but it's hard to justify when there really wasn't that bad of a wait and we ended up as one of the last tables sitting by 10 pm.
To start we were seated promptly and there was live music in the background, one of the best parts of this location. The service was fair, less than what you would receive from a chain restaurant. It took an extended time for our waiter to come to see us for our order, bread and wine came about 30 minutes after we were seated, appetizers soon after. Then the long wait began. We watched as table after table received their dishes for an hour before ours arrived. Two of the four dishes were cold and the others - both steak - were cooked poorly with half the steak well done and the other half rare. Instead of sending the food back we suffered through as it would have been closing time before we received our food again. In total four dishes, a bottle of relatively cheap wine (about $55) and a dessert cost $500 with tip. In my mind, not worth it at all.
After speaking so highly about this location to friends I'm severely disappointed and will not return.
On vacation in Wakiki Beach, made reservations for dinner. Another Prix Fixe menu because it was Christmas Eve. The meal was average small portions relative to ordering off a menu. Loud due to holiday. Restaurant had an amazing view and a great Banyan Tree that was well over 100 years old, not to mention the hotel itself was quite beautiful. Wait staff very efficient and friendly, she took time to share with us about the hotel, tree and the area we were staying at. She made the experience. I have come to find I do not care for prix fixe menus and when I made reservations it was not mentioned as far as ordering for the evening.
We had reservations for Christmas Eve. though we have been here before for drinks this time we enjoyed a wonderful meal sitting on the veranda overlooking the beach and ocean. Both the service and food were excellent. The ambience was even better, the sunset was awesome and the live music was just made it all the better. We have decided to make this our Christmas Eve tradition.
Our one splurge while staying at Waikiki.
Fantastic food and a great break from seafood on the island. The steaks were delicious and the parmesan mashed potatoes were amazing! Our waiter, Brandon was fun and engaging as well as attentive and professional. Expensive, but worth every penny!
Fantastic restaurant! It is pricey, but the view alone is worth it. Omar was a great waiter and the food was excellent.
Great experience. Had a table overlooking the beach and it was amazing.
Amazing dining experience!
We have celebrated my birthday here the last 3 years. Every time this place is awesome. Delicious food, excellent service, and gorgeous views.
Food and service were great. Skip the ribeye steak. For $75 it was lacking in flavor and was dry. Stick to seafood. Shrimp cocktail and the beet salad were great.
We chose the restaurant asa ‘safe’ pick for a fish dinner. Wow were we surprised! Not only was the veranda lovely with live music filtering from the bar, but the food was divine. William our server on 12/8 was a true professional sharing the origin of the food and the meaning of the Hawaiian words/names. William was attentive but not intrusive. He made great recommendations when asked and we enjoyed his service immensely. Having eaten in amazing restaurants in NY, SF, London, Chicago and more - we have never experienced the quality of service William provided to us. Thank you.
The salmon was seriously the best I have had in a very long time!!
Being a local resident we very rarely go into Waikiki. We had a gift card due expire and it “forced” us to venture out. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed! I requested a beachside table and we got it any closer we would be on the beach. It was lovely knowing now that this is why Hawai’i is so special. Our waiter William was happy to be our server, and surprised we were locals. The sunset was beautiful and the food delicious. I had the tasting menu and was done to perfection. My husband’s rib eye steak and brussel sprouts were great with a little kick of Kim Chee flavor. I even had a Mai tai! There was a duet of Hawaiian singers that were just the right touch for the evening. We valet the car and it was right in front when we were done. Maybe we will “venture” out to Waikiki again.
It was really good food beautiful night good music
We made reservations for our 40th anniversary and when we got there they told us our reservation had been cancelled because of the strike going on and that someone had tried to call or contact us by email, which was not true..They did offer us a couple complimentary cocktails at the bar and the manager did end up getting a reservation at a nearby restaurant to try to salvage some of the evening. Have eaten there several times and food, service and ambiance are wonderful. Just very disappointed that nobody attempted to notify us . With the reservation being made thru Open table, I would think they would have been able to notify us that the restaurant was not able to fulfill reservations
I booked this for my brothers 50th but the staff were on strike. We were not informed & showed up only to be told they were only serving a bachelor table there for a wedding. They said they tried to contact us & as open table has my email I’m not sure why they did not email me.
The restaurant was so nice to my parents for their 45th anniversary! We were greeted with orchid leis (at no charge) at the valet when I said why we were there, which I just love! The waiter was outstanding and the view at sunset was spectacular. They brought special amuse bouche for the table in honor of their anniversary and a lovely dessert plate with some of almost all the desserts on the menu. They really did a wonderful job of celebrating my parents who flew in from Connecticut. Dinner and drinks and dessert and tip for 7 came out to $550 which I thought was reasonable considering everything we ate.
We loved the hotel and the restaurant before but even more now :)
Every time we go it never disappoints. What stands out is the extremely friendly and professional service everyone. Also the food is amazing especially the Onion Soup and BimBop. Beautiful scenery and ambience.
The food was horrible and was not prepared correctly. I ordered medium lamb chops and they were burnt and tough as leather. The second couple ordered the steak and it too was burnt and damn near rare in the middle. Very poor service from the waiter. Had to to keep asking for water and drink refills. Don't waste your time nor your money. Poor place for dinner.
We ate in the best hotels and restaurants in Waikiki and Maui - and our meal at Beach House was outstanding! My 12 years old had to mention how it was the best tasting pasta she had during our Holidays and said "we have to come back here on our next holiday"
Atmosphere and service were both excellent and the tasting menus were marvelous.
Really lovely and attentive service and superb ambience. One disappointment was the lobster but we were more than happy with our special occasion meal.
Have been eating there for years and have noticed the menu changing throughout the years, not in a good way. Hardly any local items on the menu anymore. It caters to the tourists. It’s too bad because they used to make amazing local inspired dishes.
