Beachhouse - Moana Surfrider Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent! Didn't expect to have such a delicious meal at a hotel restaurant. Did have to send back a Mai Tai because it seemed weak. It definitely came back with booze in it.
Did the shrimp cocktail, tako, crab cakes and poke for the appetizers, NY Strip for my entree and tiramisu and a guava ice cream with strawberries (don't know what it was called as it was suggested by the server but it was good). The desert was beyond amazing! All the food was amazing! I would go back.
I have eaten here several times and it is always nice. This last time I had an awesome Venison Wellington (deer was from NZ). Very tender and tasty. It was preceded with a delicious lobster bisque and their foie gras toast. I passed on dessert. The wine selection is excellent. The Belle Glos pinot paired great with the venison. My server Dillon was a true pro...good insights on the menu and attentive, friendly service.
Beautiful historic hotel with porch and patio seating overlooking the beach. The night we had dinner, there was a talented husband and wife singer/ukulele player who were both amazing. The music was very relaxing - they played traditional Hawaiian music accompanied by a hula dancer. The service at the restaurant was also exceptional. We ordered the ahi tuna and lamb entrees - they were both good, but very expensive (I believe the lamb was $65) We also ordered the octopus appetizer - it had a smokey flavor that did not appeal to either of us. However, it was plated beautifully! Overall, a lovely place for a special occasion or romantic date!
Beautiful romantic setting for sunset dinner. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, absolute gem! Food was delicious. The only thing That was negative is the length of the table. It was on a long side so if there are two of you sitting, you would feel a little far from each other. It’s quiet enough so you would have no problem hearing each other.
Lovely spot for a special occasion dinner. We arrived early and enjoyed a cocktail at the bar with the super lovely Wade, then enjoyed a delicious dinner and the sunset views from the porch provided the perfect backdrop to our anniversary dinner. We also really enjoyed the Hawaiian musicians and the hula dancer performing in the courtyard next to the restaurant. This was the perfect end to a wonderful holiday!
Great dinner and romantic location with my significant other, thanks for the great service and great food! Loved the extra chocolate treat with our bill too! Ambience was fantastic and we sat on the patio for drinks after dinner. Will definitely come back here!! Would be nice to have more vegetarian options though, that don’t include mushrooms.
Celebrating a 6 year wedding anniversary. I came down a few hours early and attempted to buy a bottle of champagne to have at the table when my wife and I sat down. Ultimately, I was told I couldn’t do this but they would have it at my table when we sat down (which they did). Problem was it took 3 people about an hour to come to that conclusion. Pretty simple request for a $400 bottle of champagne, no?
I will say the restaurant did a great job accommodating my request to sit near the water. Ended up having to wait a little longer but their communication was excellent and we got the table we wanted.
We sat down and ordered 3 courses, well at least I thought we did? Oysters and a foie gras appetizer, a salad and a tomahawk ribeye. Our server brought out the salad, oysters and foie gras all at the same time. Maybe she wanted us to leave early? She also took this opportunity to suggest we buy another bottle of wine to go with our steak. Thanks for the tip....maybe worry about delivering the appropriate steps of service and I’ll worry about the wine pairing.
After our table was cleared of the aforementioned course it was about 45 minutes later that we saw our server again who informed us that our steak would ha e to be remade. She offered to bring us an app to tied us over so I guess we got that three courses after all. 3 shrimp not remarkable but whatever.
Our steak arrived about 15 minutes later for a grand total of an hour between the courses we ordered. This may have been the worst piece of meat I’ve ever payed for. To say under seasoned would be an understatement and it was torched, black on the outside and warm in the center. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve complained in a restaurant but I did in this case. No manager ever came over. Our server did bring us a filet for our trouble. Not sure why but it was even worse than the ribeye. We didn’t eat it or the ribeye.
All in all $780 dollars In a tourist trap. Spend your money elsewhere.
We started with one of their famous Mai Tai’s which was better than expected. .
We chose the 3 course tasting menu which included Surf & Turf main which was excellent! Combined it with a Malbec Rose it was near perfect.
A bit expensive but worth it for that special evening in Waikiki.
My husband selected The Beachhouse Restaurant for his birthday dinner, in part due to reputation, as well as the beautiful location. The start of the meal was excellent. Housemade warm rolls with garlic herb butter. The Maui Onion Soup was excellent, dare I say best on island. My son ordered the Beachhouse Caesar with chicken. Do yourself a favor, skip the chicken. It was flavorless and had a strange texture, so much so that it turned my son off from completing his meal. My husband ordered the Steakhouse set. Sadly, it was extremely disappointing. The spinach puree, though a beautiful vibrate green decorating the plate, added nothing of value to the 6 oz filet. The steak was tender and a very nice cut of meat, but there was no sign of the paniolo seasoning or seasoning from the spinach puree. I ordered the Moana Classic. It did not disappoint. The shrimp cocktail was cooked and chilled perfectly, and the mango salsa was to die for. Delicate and delicious was how I'd describe the crab cake. I too had a 6 oz filet, cooked to perfection. Whatever the demI glaze or sauce was that my cut was nestled on... oh my. Yum. The lobster tail was cooked beautifully and served with warm clarified butter, along with garlicky potatoes and asparagus spears that were expertly prepared. My meal also came with two desserts, a peanut butter crunch and mocha tiramisu. The waiter also prepared a birthday surprise for my husband, which was a very nice touch and quite tasty. Though there were mis-steps with a few things, we will definitely return for the onion soup, Moana Classic, and atmosphere.
You need to hire more staffs in order to serve the proper Japanese food, even it is fusion. Moreover, your restaurant is not that busy, therefore, pls don't send any guest to the table near the restrooms where people can smell the toilet stinks, especially the guest who reserve seats in advance.
A special thank to a hard working staff, named Justin. After we change the table, his hard working attitude makes me leave two stars for your restaurant. But still, you are not that good! Absolute NOT recommend this restaurant!
Great food and excellent service. Wish I could have had my reservation request which was a table by the beach as it was my birthday and wedding day. I requested it on the reservation & called but was told that it was whatever was available. I was proposed to at this restaurant and came back to have me wedding dinner but wasn't accommodated.
It was an elegant, perfectly paced dinner for my wife and I. The service was excellent, and again, perfectly paced--no hovering or being too distant. The view is amazing, banyan tree unique, and the singer set a romantic mood. The only downside was that my steak was incorrectly prepared. However, they instantly took care if it and it came back just like I wanted. The delay was minimal. We really enjoyed the experience and will go back.
Food was great. The outdoor seating was great with the banyan tree and live music in the grill area near the beach. The music was far enough away that it was enjoyable listening and you could easily carry on a conversation. This was the second time for having dinner here and it was just as good as the first time, we will go back each time we visit Honolulu.
The restaurant ambiance was perfect and the views of Waikiki was amazing. The food however for the price was just mediocre as the app and the soups were both on the saltier end. The waiter advised they would notify the chef but nothing was done to remake the items. We ordered the tasting menu and the steak was cooked perfectly.
The cocktails had lots of variety. Overall, this place had a great view of Waikiki and a very relaxing atmosphere but the food for the value was on the pricier end.
We ate a delicious meal here 10 days ago to celebrate my husband's milestone birthday. The ambiance eating on the veranda was lovely! The big tree over shadowing the outdoor dining, abutting the ocean, with live music was relaxing & charming. We each started with Mai Tai's, which were delicious & it continued upward from there. Service was attentive & informed; guiding us through some local fish we were unfamiliar with & ending in a small birthday dessert plate. Our meal was so nice, we will be returning!
