Lovely setting with a very good dinner time singer entertaining. Service was also very good. We opted for the loco moco tasting menu. The salad to start was very ordinary, nothing you couldn’t whip up at home in 2 minutes. The loco moco burger was perfectly done, but unfortunately way underseasoned, to the point of being almost flavorless. The foie served with it, nicely seared. Panna Cotta dessert nice, but $59 dollars worth.....perhaps not.
Incredible evening for our 30th Anniversary!! Great food great service and a Hawaiian sunset. Doesn’t get better than than that! Had to come back after our 25th and they didn’t disappoint. Matt the waiter was fantastic!!
Nice location on balcony overlooking Banyan tree, but food quality was only average for a restaurant at this price range. Bit noisier than expected because of entertainment at Beach Bar adjacent. Azure at Royal Hawaiian next door is much better food and quieter.
Great food -recommend the chicken Caesar salad and tempura asparagus!
Service poor -waiter took our plate away while we were still eating!!!
The experience was quite enjoyable until the tab came. We wanted to leave a 20% tip but we used a gift certificate which also add an additional fee. That left a downer feeling.
We are here twice in 5 days, it was that enjoyable. The second time we couldn't get reservations but were accommodated after showing up early and waiting for no shows. The menu isn't huge, but the items are fantastic. "Southern porch" setting under a Banyon tree, with a beach. The hostess staff was fantastic as well as the wait staff. Can't wait to return next year!
Great restaurant on the water, very polished. Comfortable but classy.
Special dinner for DW's birthday. Everyone from the hostess to the waitstaff wished her a happy birthday and she got a free cake and gelato. The meal was excellent. We chose the tomahawk steak for two. Shared the ahi appetizer. Each had the onion soup and then they brought out the steak ; already cut for easy sharing with large sides of potato and veggies. We made it through all the meat and also the dessert sampler which came along with it. A real splurge but a wonderful meal.
What a beautiful view from the veranda. The ocean. The sunset. Gorgeous. The food and service were great..
Fantastic food. surprisingly big portions. Nice live.music.
Kind of a disappointment. The steaks were bland and needed alot of salt and seasoning. The lobster bisque was terrible- it tasted as if it were made with beef stock and wasn't creamy at all. The garlic diced potatoes were extremely dry and had no garlic taste. The service was slow- not "aloha pace" but rather the waiter seemed dazed every time he walked by our empty beer and wine glasses without asking if we wanted another drink. The restaurant definitely lost out on money as we were planning on having a few drinks each. Didn't even offer coffee or special after dinner drinks after our meal.
Wonderful night and meal outside watching the ocean and sitting near the banyan tree. We ate appetizers, salads, and the Maui onion soup...all were delicious. The Surfrider Mai tais were delicious too. Exquisite old hotel.
We had a wonderful dinner, food, location etc was great and our server Ricky made our experience even better. He was awesome. Thanks
Moana Surfrider was another great find in Waikiki. This is our second time in Honolulu and we choose to eat here last night and couldn’t be more happy. We had the Moana Classic Tasting Menu. The Crab Cake was some of the we had ever tasted. Everything was wonderful!! Thank You Moana Surfrider.
Excellent location and fantastic food. Hard to beat dining watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean.
Amazing the difference between this dinner and the one last week -- which we liked so much we went back. The same Cioppino (Seafood Stew) we raved about last week was so salty as to be inedible after a few bites. They did comp it, but still. Desserts were pretty good, but the service slow and the room, though beautiful, was way too cold. the porch was a much warmer and nicer temp.
This has been one of my favorite for years. Gotten a little to pricey, but the view is spectacular.
Service is always good. Meal for 2 with no alcoholic drinks $150.
We have been dining at the Beachhouse Moana for over 40 years. The setting and view is unequaled, the service is always perfect, and the food exceptional until this visit. Our fish was overcooked and over seasoned. Food was served warm not hot. Passable, but not up to past standards. Hopefully the kitchen can get back on track!
Very disappointed with the service. Waiter came over and put menus down - had to ask him to place a drink order. Bread basket came out late. New York steak was not tasty and somewhat tough. Waiter never came to ask how our dinner tasted. Have dined here every time in Honolulu - service and food were average to be generous with review. Beautiful setting that cannot be beat.
very good seafood, crab cakes, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and a delicious Cioppino.
I had a great experience in this beautiful spot. Love the food, linens and service.
Very romantic too.
Beautiful setting, great service, great food! A perfect spot while on vacation in Waikiki!
Food and service are OK. Limited wine list. Live music is too loud, and interferes with conversation. Not suitable for a business dinner. Not bad but strictly for tourists.
Elegant without being pretentious, dishes that are interesting but not weird, professional but not stuffy staff. Unquestionably the best meal experience we had in Waikiki.
Lovely setting with a well thought out menu. Pricey but not so much by Waikiki standards. Very fine service, incredible setting and the food was delicious. I doubt there’s a dish they serve that would be a poor choice
Very good food and excellent service. The bartender makes great drinks. Pretty expensive, but worth it.
Our server Carlo was very attentive of our every need. Overall excellent experience.
I wanted to take my wife to a romantic restaurant near the water to start 2018. I easily booked a 5:30 reservation for the same day, and boy, what a view! The hostess sat us at the table literally just feet from the edge of Waikiki beach on a glorious January evening. The sweet balmy winds blew gently thru the veranda as we enjoyed our dinner!
We started with the Mai Tais...very tasty as the sun went down. Kona abalone was our first appetizer...delicious, although I wish they were prepared in a way to appreciate the abalone a little more.
My wife had the lamb, I had the steak. My wife noticed a lot of other people ordered the lamb, and she said the crustiness of it was delightful. All the other diners who had lamb were eating it the same way as my wife...nibbling at the bone to get every last morsel of the crusty rub. My wife's Pinot Noir complimented the lamb perfectly.
My steak was cooked just right, and I had no problem devouring it! I stayed with a Mai Tai by choice, although in retrospect, a nice Cabernet might've been nice.
When we were leaving, we noticed the Moana has a little piano bar off to the side of the main lobby...We DEFINITELY will be returning to the Moana, either for a return to The Beachhouse or to hang out at the piano bar!
Inconsistent food, not commensurate with the price. My husband was served a cold $55 6oz filet, the Caesar salad was bland and ordinary. The scallop appetizer was perfectly cooked with an overly sweet cloying drizzle. The other salad was local and looked very good and apparently was. The Kampachi was tender and tasty and the other steak was just "good". The bill for 4 appetizers, 3 entrees, two Martinis, 3 glasses of wine and 2 regular coffees was $390 including tax and tip.
The room is lovely and I would go back for sunset for a drink and appetizer but not for dinner.
Hope that helps folks.
