BeachFire Bar and Grill - San Clemente Ratings and Reviews
We ordered drinks and the blue cheese potato chip appetizer which were both very good. For dinner we split the blue cheese wedge salad and the pork chops. Both were excellent. And the s’mores for dessert. Service was attentive. We are new to the area and will definitely put this on our “go to” list for dining out.
My family used to frequent this restaurant years ago, and I was really looking forward to going back, however my food was sub par. Unfortunately the chicken dish I ordered came out extremely overdone, almost inedible. The accompanying rice pilaf was okay, a bit bland though, as were the other vegetables. Both drinks we ordered tasted watered down and didnt really taste like they actually had anything noted in the descriptions. We were sitting very close to the band so it was quite loud and difficult to talk, but I would say in some aspects that is part of the charm of Beachfire. The appetizers ordered were good but to me did not make up for the very overdone main dish. Overall quite a disappointing experience, I am not opposed to going back but I will likely choose something else first.
After a bit of a rough start attempting to move two tables together so we could fit all 5 of us at one table on the patio, we had a nice lunch. Food was mixed up but quickly remedied. Service was good and the chicken avo melt was tasty. I got it with a salad instead of fries and would have preferred the salad before the sandwich rather than on the same plate. The salad was very tasty. We would go back.
Great little find in the middle of downtown. Just make sure you have the waiter wipe down the table because the food is finger licking good. You and all that eat before you will be making a mess cause the food need to get from plate to food so fast.
The table shared the sticky ribs which is why the table gets so sticky. One of the best appetizers i have had from any restaurant.
The fish and chips are fresh and the Caribbean skirt steak is very flavorful and tender.
We made a reservation for 7:30 p.m. Last Sunday evening because some out-of-town guests really wanted to go to Beachfire. We had wanted to eat around 6:30 but 7:30 was the earliest reservation we could get. The San Clemente Fiesta was going on in the street in front of the restaurant so we walked to avoid parking problems. Much to our surprise, the restaurant was closed when we arrived at 7:25! The doors were locked caked, chairs were stacked up on side and no note on the door. We did not receive a phone call, email or text from the restaurant stating that they would be closed. This is extremely poor customer service. If you want to eat here, I would suggest that you call to confirm that they will actually be open
Our meal was quite tasty and our server was very good. However, we were very uncomfortable with where we were seated. There were many other open tables, but the manager said everything was full and we couldn't change tables. When we left the restaurant, there were still many other open tables. We tried to speak to the manager quietly and politely about the situation, but he was extremely rude. He said he was the owner and could do and say whatever he wanted with his restaurant. He was extremely loud and angry, a little scary in fact. We will never return to this restaurant after being treated this way, and we will never recommend this restaurant to anyone else.
On a weekend get away, we looked at other restaurants but couldn't get in, our reservation was for 6:45pm we asked and they took us 1 hour earlier! Great location, great food, very tasty, cocktails were spot on and we were given a great seat on balcony. Highly recommend this one.
This restaurant is on the main street and always appears very busy, both at lunch and dinner. The braised brussel sprouts are a wonderfully tasting beginning as is the calamari. The hangar steak entree was very tender and had a brandy based sauce. The prices are reasonable for a beach city restaurant.
We made last minute plans with friends who live in Carlsbad & San Clemente was the spot we chose. San Clemente has come a long way in culinary terms. Beachfire was one of the first trendy upscale restaurants to open & many more have followed. We sat outside so we could carry on a normal conversation. We ordered the ribs & coconut shrimp to start & both were very good. The rib appetizer is bigger than some meals. I had the nut crusted Mahi Mahi with garlic mashed potatoes. Both were good, the coconut curry sauce was fabulous. The Ahi salad was good but eclipsed by the Brussels sprouts, a fabulous version is made here.
Our waiter Levi was excellent providing good service throughout.
Food was decent, service was good, but the band started in the bar around 9:00 pm and our seat was near the bar, so as soon as the band came on, we couldn't hear each other when trying to talk. Maybe a heads-up from the staff the band would be playing 10 feet from us so putting us somewhere in the back would have been better. Normally we would have stayed to have some drinks and hang out a bit, but the band was a little too much to handle. Overall, good time though.
