Beachcomber Cafe - Crystal Cove Ratings and Reviews
Picked up my sister at the airport and took her straight here for lunch. I've been there several times and always happy with the food. It seems you can usually only get two of the three - quality, ambiance and price. Here I get all three. Excellent on all counts.
We ate here on Friday for breakfast. The food was fantastic and the service could not have been better. The location is awesome. I would love to stay in one of the cottages on the property. The whole place is a hidden gem. The avocado toast is the best I have had. The crazy Bloody Mary and the pins cup were outstanding. Our whole group loved their dishes. We will definitely return and highly recommend this place. I recommend reservations.
Enjoyed my visit to Beachcomer Cafe. I am from out of town and was referred by a friend who used to live in the area. Our waiter, Ryan, was quick and efficient. He was well versed in the menu and made recommendations for both food and drink. It was a bit chilly and it rained intermittently, so the plastic walls were down and we could not see the ocean. But the food was amazing and the location was incredible.
We hadn’t been here for a long time. Delighted that we came back. This was without a doubt the very best dinning experience we have had in a very long time, anywhere. We dined just as the sun was setting over the ocean, beautiful weather, a waiter who’s timing and approach was impeccable, our dinner was an explosion of taste. What better way to celebrate a birthday!!! We are still talking about it!!!
Was so excited to take a friend of ours from the East Coast to a place that we could say was 'only in Califronia could you get this'.....the evening was beautiful. The sunset was amazing and the view from this restaurant are unrivaled. The service was great - the food was really delicious, as were the cocktails. The only drawback? It was getting chilly - there were only two of us there while the third was parking in the lot at Los Trancos - you would think the hostess would have seated us so that we could order drinks and appetizers..................NOPE. Be warned - your entire party has got to be there if you have any hope of being seated. She did offer that we could go to the bar and order and they would move the tab over to the restaurant. Seemed kind of silly to do that - we would have been seated at the restaurant by the time the drinks and apps would have arrived. Stupid policy - there should be some latitude with the hostesses to make the call instead of so cut and dry.
The Beachcomber Café is truly the place to go if you are celebrating a special occasion. It was my birthday this Monday and the waitstaff went out of their way to make it truly memorable for me and my guests.
The full team has incredible customer service -- and every person, from host to waiter, remembered to wish me a happy birthday with a warm greeting, greeted me by my name, and provided a small birthday treat at both my dinner reservation, and breakfast the next morning.
The food is delicious, served in a timely manner, and the waterfront view truly can't be beat! Thank you, Beachcomber Café!
We arrived on time and my daughter was behind due to work, the hostess stated we could not be seated without her and stated if we were she would have to sit at another table, our reservation was for five and she would seat us for four as "they do not do add ons", she was very rude about it, my daughter arrived and they sat us at a table for four and added a chair; absolute moron. The lunch food was mediocre at best, my son and I ordered the burger; the Carl's $6 burger has more flavor and costs much less money. The waiter and his service were fantastic, the cocktails were good; I would only recommend this place at lunch for the atmosphere as you are right on the beach.
The experience was fantastic. We arrived early so drinks at the outdoor bar were in order, the bartenders were friendly and the drinks are really interesting and different. For dinner, I had lamb and it was wonderful, the gnocchi is light and fluffy covered in a delicious pesto. The rest of the table had fish and we shared the brussel sprouts. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. The highlight was the dessert - beignet with chocolate sauce and ice cream! It was a wonderful experience with great service in an awesome setting! We will return even though it is an hour drive - well worth the drive!
The Big Bad Bloody Mary may have been voted Orange County's best, but you can get the House Bloody (same amount of alcohol, just minus all the toppings) for half the price! The Tiny Ahi Tacos were yummy, the lobster and seared ahi sandwiches were delicious, and the salmon salad was also very good. People rave about the beignets, but as someone who's spent a great deal of time in Louisiana, I thought they were a little TOO light and pillowy; it was like eating air with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce.
