Beachcomber Cafe - Crystal Cove Ratings and Reviews
We went to the Beachcomber for my mom's 70th birthday. They provided us with an exceptional view outside on the patio. Our server, Jimmy, was attentive and fun. The food was delicious. The corkage fee is only $15. At the end of our meal Jimmy brought a free dessert. Everyone had a great time.
We've been here several times. The place is usually busy and the wait staff very attentive. I can't say it was this day. We sat outside on the patio but the plastic wind break was still enclosing the patio so it was actually pretty warm in there and a little uncomfortable. The food was delicious but the warmth of the place and the slowness of the wait staff was a negative that day. We'd still go back since it is a place were my friend's husband (who passed a year ago) loved and we were there to commemorate his love for the place.
Over sauced entrees in general, and even burger would be made better without the mayo/aioli , I'd recommend ordering it that way. Generally most of their meals could use simplification and The apple cider adult drink dessert tastes more like a kids juice box
Friendly staff, Good service and great atmosphere as usual
The poached eggs were hard boiled on both our corned beef hashes. My ranch eggs had cheese when I said no cheese. So they brought out replacement poached eggs 10 minutes later for our now cold corned beef. We figured the receipt would have some sort of credit or compensation for the trouble but nope - full price - spent over $100 too. We could’ve asked for full replacements on the hashes and ranch eggs and they would’ve been out a lot more. Disappointed that they didn’t compensate us.
We arrange to visit this beautiful setting at least a few times a year. It is right on the ocean front, with beautiful views. It is also a historical restaurant with many historical homes that are for rent. If you have a special occasion or just want some great ambience this is a great place to go. Awesome guitarist and singer! Set the right mood for a great evening. Plus I must mention that the food is fabulous.
We went twice for dinner while staying in the cottages. The food was terrible, soup cold, and expensive for for what you get. No urge to go back anytime soon. I think they would be better off by preparing more basic foods and staying away from the gourmet and over prepared. The service was okay and the setting (on the sand) was the best part.
Prompt service both in seating (with reservation) and with food order and delivery. Food was wonderfully presented and delicious. Beignets to start with (Yes desert), then juicy & crispy fish and chips! Also finished with birthday chocolate cake! Perfect lunch!
You won't find a better view than this one. Food was excellent. Service could have been better, a little slow getting our food and order in. My only issue was our walk back to the car which was half a mile. We had to walk up a hill and we were in COMPLETE DARKNESS! NOT SAFE WHATSOEVER!
While getting a weekend reservation at Beachcomber is tough, it is worth being patient. The view is spectacular, the food very good and the service friendly and attentive. The avocado toast and blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes are nice additions to the menu. I hope that the pumpkin and carrot pancakes will reappear in the future.
5 adults & 2 kids...place has great food and ambience (can’t beat the view!!) however it is pricey, ok if you split a dish (unless you have someone who really wants it all to themselves) $18 for a Bloody Mary is too much even if they do put a shrimp & crab claw as a garnish!!!
This was my 2nd visit & I will go back, just need to take someone to split a plate with!! The kids couldn’t finish their plate (we ordered beignets which we couldn’t get enough of!!) so I guess I’ll be splitting with them!!
Always make reservations or you’ll be waiting for awhile, but it is the beach so it’s not so bad.
We had an 8:30 reservation because thats was as early as I could get. The place was empty. But the wait staff was forced to rush us because the kitchen was closing. We will know in the future but was disappoined and I can not give a positive review. I would call this one a swing and a miss.
Once again The Beachcomber exceeded our expectations!!
Food was delicious - service friendly and not too pushy.
Would highly recommend the tomato soup! But beware - its a large portion and comes with a baked pastry topping!!! WONDERFUL!!
They have revamped their calamari. Very good!
We were there for my husband's birthday. We parked in the parking lot across the street walking was easy about 7 Minutes through the tunnel Our reservation was right on time for a Saturday lunch. I would highly recommend a reservation through OpenTable days ahead of time as we did. There were some walk-ins concerned about the long wait time without reservations. It was a beautiful day, the service was excellent, the food was delicious and we walked on the beach afterwards to take some pictures and see all the people
Really no place like it! Fly into JWA and be at the beach in 20 minutes. The historic restaurant is in the Crystal Cove State Park. Excellent food & drinks w/ attentive wait staff. They offer something for every appetite. We had a 5pm reservation. We arrived early & wandered the beach for an hour the sat on the patio and watched the sun set while we enjoyed a fabulous dinner & drinks.
The four of us were at The Beachcomber for lunch and to celebrate two Birthdays. We all agreed that the food was just okay.
Hamburgers, Salad, Melted Short Rib Sandwich and cocktails.
Whoever is in charge of the plastic curtains that enclose the front patio, should pay more attention to the weather. It was a beautiful Fall day and the ugly plastic curtains were enclosing the patio. Lose the ugly, very unattractive curtains especially when they are unnecessary...they kill the ambience!
