We had a reservation for 7:30 and was told there’s a backup on reservations and you have to wait 30-45 minutes so go get a drink at the bar and wait. The bar was completely overwhelmed and we paid $65 plus tax and tip for a warm bottle of Sauvignon blanc but there was ice in the ice bucket they gave us so I guess it was ok. We never got a table. We finished the wine and ordered Aji Sushi take out in Long branch. I can’t fathom having a reservation for dinner and not getting a table. I can’t complain, we enjoyed an overpriced bottle of wine outside, and Aji Sushi in Long branch is open late and great. I also saved probably $100 for not eating there. Don’t go there until winter at least, they can’t handle the business.
We are outside on the dock for a later lunch/early dinner. The dock is decorated beautifully w lush flowers and plants. Service was excellent and the food was good. Could have been a larger portion of pasta for the $. Tks!
terrible service, oysters were foul tasting. the clientele was a bit uppity too... not my scene. I know its covid times so things are weird but this was exceptionally poor for the overpriced drinks (16 bucks a pop!)...good views though and the bartender was awesome
Food is great. Great vibes with an amazing band. Only small problem was the service. Good came out on time but it took forever for us to pay and for me to get my card back.

Raw bar, appetizers and entrees were delicious. Servicer and management were very attentive, but the dessert was terrible. Sent it back because something was off, making me sick the whole rest of the night when I got home

This restaurant is amazing, killer service, amazing food, great location, you can’t go wrong and we ate our way through the menu!
Over priced. Service was pretty bad… there were about 30 staff hanging around. Sensitive to the Covid situation and not being able to get qualified people BUT, one of the runners/bus people was vaping off to the side and pretty sure the wait staff included were 16-18 years old and not trained properly. We ordered apps, drinks, entrees and dessert. Bill was pricey but with great service would have been ok. Felt like we could expect more for what they charge.

Nice place, sat at the deck. Will definitely return. Kat was very attentive. We ordered fish and chips which was very good. Salmon was ok, nothing special for that price. We tried several cocktails. Relaxing dinner and watch the sunset too.
We dine here frequently and have always had good experiences, however the last few times have been subpar and this visit being the worst. We sat forever waiting for our drink order to be taken…put food and drinks all in at once and everything still took forever. We dined with only 2 napkins even though we asked several times for more…drinks never showed up…and right before our food came out we were told they were out of chicken fingers (for my 4 year old) which made the experience go from bad to worse. I’ve been coming here for so many years, even had my baby shower here. I hope the establishment reads these reviews and makes some changes.
My husband and I had a reservation for 1 o’clock on a Sunday and it was a really great experience. We had been to BT last year and it was an equally great time. We were seated within 10 minutes to be able to get a dockside table. The waiter was efficient and provided excellent service and our food came really fast. BT is one of the few places I know of that has gluten free fish n chips! They are delicious. We also really loved our cocktails. Highly recommend!
Reservations were at 9pm & restaurant was overbooked. We had to wait over 45 minutes which was unacceptable. We did have the pleasure of talking with Luis (bartender) & having a drink & appetizer at the bar while waiting to be seated. The hostess was going to find us at the bar (since we did not have our cell with us). It was almost close to 9:55pm before we were seated. Also spoke
with manager, Hope, who explained the situation and apologized. The drinks, food & service were outstanding but the overall experience was overshadowed by the long wait. While we do understand the issues during this time with finding servers & folks wanting to enjoy their time dining out with friends, there should be some limits placed on dining time and holding up the table so that everyone has an equal time & ability to enjoying their dining experience as well.
We had a reservation at 8:15pm that I made weeks prior to our friends from out of state visiting. We got there and were told that they were running a little behind and that we would have to wait 30 mins for our table, which we were very understanding of and decided to grab a drink outside in the meantime. After waiting 30 mins in line for the outside bar, they were basically out of alcohol and had barely any mixers left to make a drink with. Once we got our drinks, we went back inside (now 45 minutes past our original reservation time) and were told that our table was still not ready. We waited in total 2 hours to finally be seated and still did not get any food served to us until 10:45pm. Additionally, when asked if we could at least get a free appetizer or drink for the inconvenience, we were told that nothing could be done for us. Also, when we asked what the issue was, we were told that no tables were available.
We’ve been to Beach Tavern many times and will definitely go back. I realize that there is an issue with restaurants being able to hire enough staff right now but the length of time we were made to wait was way too much. We had a reservation through Open Table but were seated almost 1 hour after our reservation time. It wasn’t until we spoke to the manager that they figured out a way to finally seat us. They only have one small section for seating indoors and are not making use of any of their other indoor seating. That means all indoor diners ate crammed into one small area. I’m not sure what the thinking is with that. We would have loved to sit outside but were told the wait fir an outside table was even worse. Once seated, all was great. The food was delicious and our server was attentive.

Just know that if you want to sit outside it’s first come first serve, when we got their we were told as reservations are always inside. Service was very poor. The server came up to us once every 25 minutes. Food was good. Portions small depending on the dish. I loved the new england clam chowder and burger.
Beautiful setting. Had wanted an outdoor dining experience & requested it when I made my Open Table reservation several weeks in advance- unfortunately when I arrived I was told by the hostess that outdoor dining was on a ‘first come’ basis. This was not specified in the online reservation. Indoor setting attractive, but very noisy & over pylori what you get, Service was not on the level with the price you pay.
I made a reservation for 4 people and as we arrived on time the lady by the front told us that we have 45 minutes wait.
She asked for our number to text us when the table is ready.
A lot of people came after us and went right in right away. I wouldn’t go back to a place that doesn’t respect people like that.
The food was good and the outdoor seating view is beautiful. My complaint is the last 2 times we were there, the entree came out as we were only 1/2 way through our appetizers.By the time we started on the entree, it had been sitting at the table for 10-12 minutes.That was disappointing.

Waitress was wonderful and service was great. Drinks were excellent but the menu is limited and the food was ok. I’ve been many times prior to Covid and was very happy with the food but something has change.

unfortunately it rained so we couldn't sit outdoors but will definitely go back to sit outside. The lobster cocktail was the perfect temperature and our server even went and got me some drawn butter for it. The honey-coated fried chicken was done to perfection and the slaw with it was the perfect accompaniment. My husband had the lobster roll which was delicious but could have been stuffed with a bit more. My daughter had the mussels which were light and perfect. A great evening.
Kind of pricey but the views are excellent and the food was delicious. Nice wine selection!
We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant beach tavern.We went for our 22nd wedding anniversary with our two sons. The food was excellent the service was excellent and the atmosphere was great and view was truly spectacular.
Good was not good and expensive. Servers were confused which tables to deliver food to. We loved the band. But will go elsewhere to see.

The current trend in having lack of quality staff in restaurants, and in particular quality wait staff, is never more evident and in full force than at Beach Tavern in Monmouth Beach.
Booked and was confirmed for a 7:15 reservation.
Upon arrival there was a 90 MINUTE WAIT for outside seating and TWENTY MINUTE WAIT for inside dining.
Inside dining wait ended up being 65 MINUTE WAIT.
After WAITING ANOTHER FIFTEEN MINUTES to order, WAITED NINETY (90!) MINUTES for dinner before just leaving without receiving any dinner.
Absolutely zero follow up from wait staff or one of the three hostesses as to food delay.
Other tables that were n our vicinity had similar waits for their food, and upon arrival and after eating, these other customers could be heard commenting “We waited this long for TIIS???”
Do not waste your time going to Beach Tavern unless your connected to the owners and can get “normal service”.
Overall dining experience deserves negative stars. One star is over rating this restaurant.
We’ve had plenty of nice dinners at BT in recent years. However, this experience was downright horrible. Took us 25 minutes to get water, bread and a cocktail served to us. Our waitress literally didn’t come back to our table between us ordering and then getting our main course over an hour later. It seemed like it was their first night open. Food was not hot and thrown together. Won’t be going back anytime soon
