The tuna tartare was unbelievable. The lobster roll (hot with butter) was even better than that. Ask about the days oysters and get em shucked fresh.

First visit. I always default to their other restaurant, State Road. Much more casual menu but really yummy and a lot of fun. I'll be back!

This was our third try at Beach Road and our third disappointing experience. While our raw oysters were superb, unfortunately, our main courses did not make the grade. We'll stick to State Road, which has always met or exceeded our expectations over the years.

Simply put = The best in Martha's Vineyard . .. the fried chicken, the yummiest you've ever consumed.
New menu selections, new chef as of late March 2016= Beach Road is even better.
If you have a discerning palate you must feast here :)

A great spot in Vineyard Haven. Like it's cousin State Road, it offers both comfort food (Hamburger, steak frites) and unique items like fresh fish of the day and Portuguese soup. The menu is large enough that you feel like you are given a multitude of options. There is a bar scene that allows folks to talk and have a nice glass of wine or a cocktail. Finally, we had the cookie box for dessert which offered fresh homemade cookies that were yummy.

Have eaten here a number of times so that means it's good! My only 'complaint' is that we arrived 20 minutes or so before our reservation and no table was ready. We wanted to sit and wait at the bar, have a drink, but the hostess told us we could not as they 'reserved' bar sears for walk in diners. She moved us to the entry way and offered to bring us a drink there. The entry way has only 2 small bench seats - not welcoming. I think they should have let us sit at the bar, or they should improve the entry way seating.

Very disappointing. Tough and bland pork schnitzel. Olive and nut dish tasted unseasoned. Bouillabaisse was like a thick potato soup - bizarre. But decent service, although she mispronounced the fish special. We love State Road so we were perplexed by the awfulness of this meal.

The most compelling thing about Beach Road is how it has been turned from a silk purse into a sow's ear. The former "Saltwater" restaurant was a light and airy jewel of a place, with a magnificent view, a terrific chef and an engaging staff. The ambiance was cheerful and romantic, fun and energetic. Unfortunately, Beach Road has inherited the "old barn" atmosphere of its sister restaurant "State Road," and as a result, all the other great qualities of the venue are sadly gone, except of course for the great view,. The food and service were fine, and better than last year. It is only for those who fondly remember Saltwater that Beach Road suffers in comparison.

One of our favorites. It always hits the spot, regardless of whether it's a special occasion or a last minute decision to eat at the bar.

Guacamole with Lobster is a must order.
The tables were tightly positioned so you dine with neighbors.
The portions on the main were a little stingy.
Parking is difficult and there are no lights on the outside sign.

The fried chicken and ribs missed the mark, mostly a flavor issue. Dessert was super and the view is not to be missed.

Very pricey, not a lot of choices. My fried chicken wasn't anything spectacular and my husband's scallops were room temperature at best.

WE dined here at recommendation of a local (for our anniversary). It was dark & rainy but still nice view out at the storm and rabbit and skunk on the lawn. Creative, small plate entrees that let the main ingredients shine (scallops; bluefish), risotto to share, and dessert were all outstanding. Lobster guacamole lacked lobster flavor but was good, basic, mild guac and nice presentation. German chocolate cake rocked. Bought a gift certificate for friends!

It was our second time at Beach Road and probably the last. The New England clam chowder was both cold and hot in bowl(microwaved?)-bland. Yes, I know its New England clam chowder but it tasted like it was from a D'Angelo's sandwich shop. The brussels sprouts were cooked well but nothing special, I did not taste either the shallots or parmesan in which they are roasted with. I ordered the Schnitzel, and again lacking in taste. My husband ordered the fried chicken chicken dinner and it was delicious. Ample wine and beer choices

Our service was great. Waitress was delightful.
Expected it to be SOOOO much better.
Salad was swimming in dressing.
Had the Linguini with clams. Many bites of my clams were VERY gritty with sand. And the "white wine & garlic sauce" tasted like pasta water. Bland. Boring. Disappointing.
This was our 1st time here (because although we spend the summer on the Vineyard, you can never get a reservation here). I can't quite understand why. It wasn't great. It was barely good. I wouldn't recommend it. And I doubt we'll be back.

Dining was wonderful overall. Lobster roll, oysters were wonderful. Some dishes did not need the creativity to add seafood, eg Guacamole with lobster lacked any sensation of lobster. And though the dessert menu was limited, all sinfully delicious. Would Highly recommend for all kinds of gatherings. Relaxing, great food and fun.

My experience at Beach Road was great. The management team that runs both State Road and Beach Road is top notch, and I have never had a bad experience or plate at either restaurant. Beach Road's food is on par with that of State Road and the ambiance is wonderful as well. I hope to go back in the day time to see the view behind the restaurant as I am sure it is stunning. Best food I had was the Tuna Tartare and my Bouillabaisse which was so well done.

We had several Beach Road dinners. All great experiences. The menu and wine list is not outstanding but the overall experience compensates for that. The location is convenient, the building design takes advantage of the lagoon as a backdrop. Not nearly as noisy and more casual than its sister restaurant, the State Road. Parking can be a problem. You can use the nearby hardware store parking.

Wonderful - absolutely worth a visit!! Went for dinner mid-week so were able to get a reservation. The service was exceptional, drinks were very well-crafted, but the food was the highlight - it was the best we had during a week long Vineyard visit. Striped bass (special of the day) was best I've ever had, and buttered lobster roll was also spectacular. Tried to return it was so good, but they were fully booked.

This was our second dinner this year at Beach Road. We applaud that Vineyard Haven finally has some find restaurants (it may have to do with the fact that now they can serve alcohol). Beach Road is a complementary venue to its classier sister restaurant, State Road, in West Tisbury. Both superb and highly recommended. In the summer make a reservation far ahead.

Love the original, State Road, for everything a restaurant should be - inventive, locally grown, professional, but chill staff... Beach Road was almost all of that, but the food wasn't as well prepared as its parent... and my linguine with clams was way over cooked... Still, it's a beautiful place and have faith. Im going to give them another try!

Fantastic view from all tables. The small plates were excellent and larger than what you would get for tapas. The server mentioned that one could make a meal of a small plate along with a starter or side. We followed her suggestion and were very satisfied. She also described the desserts so accurately we were smitten with both her and the food. Additionally, we found the wine list to represent a wide variety of styles that matched the food. We look forward to a return visit to try selections we did not have room for the first time.

Loved everything about this restaurant from the food to the presentation to the ambiance to the wait staff. Beach Road is the more casual, sister restaurant to State Road and I actually liked it better! It is a bit sleeker and more modern and it offers smaller plates. The specialty drinks are nice, too!

Good menu, attractive setting. Our salad appetizer was excellent with a toxic amount of salt. The scallops were great. Schnitzle? The chef out to book a trip to Vienna for a schnitzel experience.

The Sangiovese is recommended.
We are going back a few times this summer asking for less salad snd not ordering schnitzel.
