I’ve had dinner there several times and have never been disappointed.
I ordered off the Locals menu...pork chop. It was delicious. I also ordered the shrimp appetizer...also delicious. Can’t beat the view!
Picture perfect setting, with wonderful view. Great service and food.
First time here. Found it from a random site. So glad we did. Had a reservation so we were brought right in to a window table with fantastic views, although there isn’t a bad seat in the house. We ordered the wedge salad and special roasted tomatoes with burrata cheese for starters. Both were excellent. The wedge salad also had firecracker shrimp with it so quite filling. For entrees we had the cioppino and the beef fillet stroganoff. Again both were fantastic! All in all a wonderful evening. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Monterey.
The food was excellent. The blue cheese wedge was the best I have had. Sat outside and they had enough fire going to keep it warm. The view was very nice. Definitely will return.
The Beach House offers great food and service, and if you ask, a early bird (4:00 -
5:30) special menu offers several dishes for under $15.00. Tell them you are a local resident.
Wonderful place to eat. Great view of ocean. Food great
Good Experience would recommend.
By far the worst sand dabs ever. Over breaded, bland, mushy, tasteless. They claim these are fresh and local but I’m extremely skeptical about that claim as they were twice the size of any sand dabs I’ve ever seen. The accompanying green beans were no bette; soggy and way overcooked. I’ve had better from a can. The rice pilaf was equally as bad and also had no taste. The service was almost satisfactory, especially for a Saturday night, but there was little concern for us and no inquiry about the food. BTW we also had a salad that taste like it had been prepared and refrigerated a week before, and some Brussels sprouts which were at least okay although the pancetta was tough and tasteless and there were no hazelnuts. The atmosphere was so loud it was next to impossible to have a conversation without yelling.
This is one of our go-to places when visiting Monterey and Pacific Grove. The staff is friendly and attentive. The views are incredible. The menu is very reasonably priced for what you get. The food is fantastic and the drinks are great.
I had always thought of the Beach House as a tourist spot. However, we at there about 2 years ago and I was pleasantly surprised. We had out of town guests recently so we thought the Beach House would be a good choice. We were also celebrating my wife's birthday. When I made the reservation over a week in advance, I requested a window table and noted it was a birthday. When we arrived at the restaurant, the table they offered us was near the kitchen. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait for a window table. We didn't want to wait and took the table near the kitchen. The service was not very good. The waitress constantly reached over our shoulders to place or remove plates. I ordered a glass of wine when the entrees were served and didn't get it until I had finished eating. I had sand dabs that were supposed to have a lemon butter sauce. I couldn't find a bit of sauce on the fish. One of our party ordered filet and shrimp scampi. The "shrimp scampi" was a few shrimp on a skewer and a side of butter sauce. Not what I call shrimp scampi. I don't foresee us returning to the Beach House.
The ambience, the view, and the food were all above average. The service was slow, which our server explained was due to a couple of employees being out. He was kind enough to bring us a dessert to share because we never received a second glass of wine that we had ordered. Overall, I would definitely return for another meal.
The table was small and poorly located. We had advised it was our 37th anniversary and reserved a window table but received a side table with one person having the view of the kitchen. Server was nice but overwhelmed and rushed. No water refills flat wine , and ice cold side dish...Expecting top grade fresh seafood we were advised to get stroganoff. The lambchops were excellent but wife's sanddabs were just average. It was Thursday and I think the staff was stretched... We might have caught them on a off night. Tarpy's Roadhouse far superior...
Ask for the Early Bird or Local Resident's special before 6PM - a great deal! The location at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove has views of Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean from almost every table. Service is friendly, but a shortage of servers makes it a bit slow.
Great dinner, service & views! Good selection of comfort food. We had the grilled artichoke, seafood pasta & the sea bass. And the brownie dessert. Everything was tasty! Would definitely return.
Enjoyed the food, service and beautiful view of PG!
We had a wonderful experience! The chicken was delicious and a huge portion! The seafood pasta was also really good. Our waiter was fantastic and we loved sitting out on the solarium patio. Great atmosphere!
Masks were NOT required. While my husband and I came in (and left) with masks on, most of the staff, unsmiling hostess included, were maskless (save for one busboy), as were the guests who came in or out. Unfortunately, it didn't dawn on us until later on. It was as if things were back to normal. (Trust us, we want it to be, but we're not there yet!). We should've left. I feel sorry for the elder diners (of which there were a few) who were exposed to unnecessary risk. The food was decent and perfectly cooked, but not unforgettable; the service was slow and not worth the risk.
Being a local it’s great to have a early bird menu. Good value and great food!
Great place for the family or a special date nighr
Beach house is one of our favorite restaurants when we visit the monterey area! The view is amazing. The food is delicious and we always have great service!
The service was great. The food was bland. The wild rice tasted like plastic and the green beans were over cooked. The fish was cooked well but very bland. The French dip was tender but also bland. The wine was served in a generic wine glass. Both red and white were served in the same type of glass. The waiter could not recommend a particular dish and could not recommend a wine. He gave wonderful service but also needs to be educated on what the Beach House services.
Nice restaurant with a good menu and wonderful location. Service was great.
not eager to pan a local restaurant, but the food was mediocre at best: sand dabs choking in a flavorless cream sauce over somewhat taste-free wild rice. not cheap, either. the service was great … until we had to wait 20 minutes before getting someone’s attention to pay the bill. still, a great location
Everything was perfect. No more need to be said!
Is servicing food were both phenomenal. On a scale of 1 to 10 it wasn't even 12
Excellent restaurant overlooking the an. They had early bird specials with great prices, but will be making changes, so will see what they are when we visit again,
WE always make sure we have a reservation at Beach House when we visit Pacific Grove. Good food, beautiful view and good drinks.
Great place for dates amazing staff very friendly and attentive !
Our waitress was awesome!!! The food was ehh. Maybe the cooks had an off night. I’d try again…
Very nice evening. Food was delicious!
Waiter was not very attentive. Waited quite a while for menus, then drink order, and then check to come, and then check to be picked up. Disappointing, we were celebrating our 40th a wedding anniversary. No fresh fish items available. Pretty surprising for a restaurant right on the ocean and omly 1 mile from the Monterey pier.
The waiter was outstanding, the food excellent, the ambiance in the deck so pleasant. Highly recommend the Beach House!
Perfect quiet spot on the water for a nice romantic dinner!. Highly recommend
Food was bland. Very underwhelmed by the experience.
Sand dabs good. Salmon dry. Calamari overbreaded. View and location for a walk post date is not to be beat.
We made reservations a week in advance but they sat us in the back by the kitchen … we definitely ordered less than we normally would have and one in our group didn’t order at all. Totally had 0 ambiance. Waste of money to be honest. Really depressing experience:( we were really looking forward to it.
Stroganoff is one of those dishes you plan a return trip for.
We were one of the first into the door. We were taken to an inside table? Why would I wait 1/2 hour to get in, with reservations and be seated inside away from fresh air and the ocean. Not very reasonable. We had to ask to be seated in the outside deck area. The hostess seemed to be put out by this and it frustrated her. Then seated us at a small inadequately sized table so one of us had to stare into the window of the restaurant interior. Not too happy. Seated other couples that entered after us at a table with a beautiful view. Not to mention they were a two person party at a 4 chair table. Our initial wait for service was also less than adequate. Needless to say, it will no longer be our go to spot. It was a 2 to 3 time a month dining spot, but we don’t like politicking or begging for seating. Prior to this experience a choice was given, and we were asked inside or out. We are wide open, you are the first in the door, where would you like to sit. Anyway, not what was expected when we went out of our way to sit at an appropriate location. Plenty of other go too’s in the area.
The service was very good, courteous, we had an early reservation though we didn’t get a window seating although there were many available
