Beach Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Made reservations thru Open Table -requested patio - when we arrived there was no patio seating. Later i noticed an empty table on the patio, but was told "there was a waiting list" Our fish & chips were overcooked & panko was spiked with mucho spices - they offered to comp lunch (which was nice) & we could order another lunch. My friend (from Portland) had to leave so they packed her a tuna salad (requested dressing on side) when she stopped enroute there was no dressing included... not a good day on the waterfront!
We were celebrating our anniversary and thought the restaurant would do something special for us; they did not.
The server was slow. Never came back to see if we needed anything. I had to ask twice to get water refilled.
We were told it was a great place to go to enjoy the water but even with our reservation we were told it would be another 30 minutes to sit outside. So we sat inside where it was extremely noisy.
We had been to Beach Cafe for lunch about four weeks before and thought it would be cool place to take friends who were visiting from the UK for dinner. Frankly, we liked it better for lunch. Dinner menu was so-so. Server got our drinks order wrong. We all ended up with salads and when asked for bread or rolls we got what might have been uncut hamburger buns.
We will give them another shot but again at lunch. Liked that a lot better.
I had a 1:1 business breakfast meeting at the Beach Cafe at 8am on a Monday morning. The place was largely empty. One of the servers used glass cleaner to clean the windows right in front of us. It took 30 min to get our meals delivered. Our server was taken aback when we complained about the delay, and then decided to avoid us all together. We had to go to the reception desk to pay on our way out. Not going back.
The menu offering at Beach Cafe has changed significantly in the last couple of years. After we sat at our table we had to wait at least 10 minutes before we even got a waiter to come over, while it wasn't even busy.
Since that was not the impression I wanted to give my guest on his first visit to the Seattle area we decided to leave and go elsewhere.
This reataurant use to be good 15 years ago, but the quality of food continues to go downhill. The fish and chips were heavily breaded, calamari was heavily breaded, ahi burger didn't taste fresh at all with not enough seasoning or sauce, the ribs didn't have enough sauce too. Time to invest your money in a new chef to match the restaurant's location and view.
The location is wonderful! The host could have been more welcoming and engaging. While there were empty tables on the patio we were told it would be a 20 -to 30-minute wait, even though I requested patio seating in the reservation. We elected to grab a table in the bar instead of waiting. The bar server was very nice, and very apologetic that the Yucca Fries were no longer available, even though they were on the menu. It felt like a change in ownership and not a great experience for this frequent guest. Overall, disappointing experience - other than the location on Lake Washington.
With reservation from OpenTable for 4. Waited 10 minutes. Three who walked in got seated first before we did. When got seated, 15 minutes before a server approached us. Coffee that we ordered did not come with any spoon, no utensils. It took 3 person to ask to give us utensils. Our food came in after 1 hour of waiting. Really bad service.
I have been here before and really enjoyed my experience so decided to take a friend there for her birthday. I wish I would have taken her somewhere else as we did not only get a lousy table but It was the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend and they were short staffed.. we specifically asked for no pork in the salad and while the server apologized, somehow the communication between the server and the kitchen broke down and the salad was served with the pork which he then replaced. They were also out of a couple dishes we wanted to order.
IT was perhaps an off day for them.. but it sure did not make my friend's birthday special.
Nice selection of local NW foods and drinks. Food selection was limited but a descent variety. The Club Sandwich was a hit at the table, followed by fish and chips. The fries (Regular and Sweet Potato) were flavorful and tasty. The Ahi Tuna burger missed the mark with not much flavor. Service was slow and lacking presence. We kept waiting for the server to return so we could reorder our drinks.
I got a chopped salad..and I think I would call it a chunk salad. huge chunks of beats and salami... not really a gals salad. I expect little pieces of things. It should not have been called chopped salad. Took a long time to get our check.. was tired of being there as I was done eating for a while. No bread offered with salad. Place was kind of noisy.. hard to talk. Otherwise it was good.
My lunch was a notch above OK, but my sister had problems with her order. The food she received was not what she ordered, and was returned to the kitchen for the correct entree. Her initial order took longer than expected to arrive, and the replacement order took nearly 20 minutes -- by which time I had finished eating. The wait staff was pleasant and responsive, although they seemed a bit overwhelmed. My sister was not charged for her lunch due to the confusion over her order. I have eaten at the Beach Cafe on several occasions over the past 15 years, and during that time I would give it a slightly above average rating. It's location is the key selling feature -- adjoining the Kirkland marina -- but diners should not go there expecting great food.
The Beach Cafe is located in a wonderful area that overlooks the water. It was a sunny warm day and we sat outside. Absolutely loved the ambiance and the food. There was a new waitress who seemed to be messing up people's drink orders and did the same with my wife's. We did not correct her...my wife ordered a Rose wine and the waitress brought over a Rose sparkling wine...not at all what she ordered. We should have said something in retrospect. Everything else was fantastic!
