Beach Cafe Ratings and Reviews
When we dined at Beach Cafe for dinner on 12/21/12, I was happy to see cioppino on the menu, as it's one of my favorite dishes. But it was so salty I could barely eat any of it. I had been in San Franciso recently, where I ate cioppino at Woodhouse Fish. There the dish was superb, with just the right amount of seasoning to allow the full flavors of the fish and the broth to reign. The Beach Cafe's cioppino was waaaaaay more salty -- so much so that I couldn't enjoy the fish and tomato flavors. Also, my daughter's rice -- which accompanied her salmon entree -- was also very, very salty. Too bad about the salty food, because the view of the lake is terrific. BTW, my husband had lamb tacos, and he said his meal was very good and not too salty.
Went on a Sunday night to celebrate a birthday. They have a small
Menu but a good kids menu. I had steamer clams.
They had excellent flavor and I'd have them again.
Only wish they would include more bread to soak
Up the broth. You only get one tiny piece of grad with it.
Overall we'd go there again. Feel like the place
Could use a little face lift. Felt a little tire. Plus I
Was surprised that our diet cokes were served
In plastic cups. Not even red robin does that.
We went to Beach Cafe for Thanksgiving dinner, so the experience may not be representative of a typical meal. We found the whole experience exceptionally mediocre. There was absolutely nothing unique about any of the entres and they were lukewarm by the time they hit our table. The service was very slow and haphazzard (the menu was the same for all patrons but the waitstaff must not have been putting table numbers on their orders; we found several times that the servers were delivering meals to others who had gotten there well after us, and we received our salads well before the table next to ours who got there well before we did). The seating is relatively cramped. About the only positive was that the view is nice.
The Beach Café used to be a vibrant place with a casual atmosphere and good food and especially nice in the summer with the view. I hadn't been in quite awhile and was surprised by how much it has gone down hill. There was hardly anyone in the place at 7 on a Wednesday, the service was slow and almost none existent, the food selection was limited, boring and more of what you would expect for lunch than for dinner. The food quality was ok, but a little greasy and over-salted. The place was freezing with blasting air conditioning when it was raining and cold out (in the 40's). We asked them if they could turn down the cold air and were told that wasn't possible. Too many other good places in Redmond and Kirkland to return.
It is in a beautiful location on Lake Washington - but that is the only positive thing I can say. The waiter was inattentive, the food was bar none the worst restaurant food I've ever had.
I got the Rock Fish special for that day. The fish was tough, it was supposed to have a chili-lime dressing - it just tasted like lettuce and lime. Nothing else in the salad. My friend got the Chop Salad - and that was sub par as well. Very disappointing. Restaurants in Kirkland on the water are really going downhill. It's a shame. The meal was $45.00 for two of us - not worth it for what we got.
Went for Sunday brunch. The restaurant has an amazing view, but the service was pathetic. We had to ask someone to send our waitress to take our order. It took 45 minutes to get our food, which was cold. And the restaurant was barely half full. The food would have tasted great if it had been hot.
Food quality was very good. The only downside (and a big disappointment) was the portion size of our Lazy Man's Cioppino. Both my wife and I _each_ ordered one ($23 per), and our initial reaction was that they accidentally split our dish as one order with a $2 split plate charge. When the check came we realized that what we had was the full order, and we left the place hungry. Honestly, for a $23 plate the portion was not generous at all. This is the reason for the 3 star rating. Service and environment are both outstanding.
On a side note, they put way more clams on my dish than on my wife's (about 14 to 2). She was not very happy.
Probably not going to go back.
We visited on a Monday night - restaurant was about half filled. Service was very good - friendly server and was reasonably attentive. Wife commented her cosmo was very good - nice pour of Chardonay. Chowder was outstanding - one of the bests I've had. Blackend salmon fish tacos were first rate served with chips and a good guaqamole. View is outstanding and sunset this evening was great. We will return again.
The menu is sad, generic, uninspiring. I had the Roasted Tomatillo + Pork Benedict and mom had the Smoked Salmon Benedict, both lame, pretty tasteless and unappealing presentation.
The staff and the mimosas were good, and of course, we pay to get that view, certainly not the food.
I had been going there for years 4-6 times a year and it's just getting worse.
Try to make some effort please!
The food was very good... Fish n Chips w/ sweet potato fries was one
of the best fish n chips I've had! The clam chowder was good too!
We sat in the bar, "Happy Hour" drinks were a little pricey for "Happy Hour" not that
great of a deal at $8.00 a drink.
I wanted a blended Margarita, they have NO BLENDER! That was a disappointment.
The Margarita in a plastic cup...come on, NO plastic for your drinks....drinks always taste better in glass.
Our waiter was knowledgeable, energetic, attentive and had good recommendations on the meal.
We were seated as requested, but soon after a large and noisy family was seated next to us. Upon looking at the menu we were really disappointed to see that it had become much more "casual" and even "pub foody" since the last time we ate there.Since we were entertaining an out-of-town guest, we decided to ask if their more upscale dining room "bin on the Lake" had room for us. Luckily, they did.The dinner ended up to be much more what we had hoped for (except the king salmon entree, which tasted "old" - thus very disappointing, especially at $34)We were trying Beach Cafe again as a friend and I were really disappointed recently at lunch - bad service, mostly. And, we wanted to give them another chance...didn't work with presen
The best part of the Beach Cafe is the location. The service was fair to poor, but we were just there for happy hour, so the great deals made up for the less than great service. The food sounds better on the menu than it tastes, but again, the location and price made it worth it. We really had a good time, and the beer and drink selection offered variety and quality.
Loved the Beach Cafe. I took a group of clients there and the process of being seated was a little hectic but after that, everything was great. Our server was continuously checking in on us and being that she was gorgeous, I certainly didn't mind that. But even minus the server, the food was great, the view on the patio was amazing and I was glad that I happened to find the place for lunch randomly. I will certainly return and would recommend it for a great summer lunch (and I'm guessing Sunday brunch would be great as well).
All of our main dishes were great but the 3 appetizers that we ordered for our group were nothing special, even disappointing. Because we had a group of 7 we paid the gratuity added to the bill but the server did not deserve the 20% added by the restaurant. I wish the tip could have reflected the service we received.
We have been coming to the Beach Cafe for many years. This time we went with another couple. Three our of our four dinners were not good. In fact, we sent one of them back to the kitchen.
An item which we often order was a big disappointment.
We will try again but some changes appear to have taken place in the kitchen which are not positive.
Also, our server gave my credit card to another party and their credit card to me. Fortunately, we both realized it before we left.
The server would appear only occasionally, I had to ask for the check by catching his sleeve as he wandered past, and the receptionist had to go find him when after I waited for him to pick up the check with my credit card. The food was very good as was the ambiance. I will be back and will hope for better sevice.
Great outdoor lunch place. If you're thinking about this place, give it a shot; just make sure YOU are prepared, because they're certainly not. Long story short, I had anticipated a great view, great food and excellent service overall. Wrong. We sat outside, ordered drinks for starters, but waited no less than 10 minutes to do so. At that time, we asked for some appetizers but given that we have had more than enough time to decide, we made our choice for lunch. Time went by, the sun came up harder on us; we didn't bring sunglasses. Having ordered, we thought no problem, we'll make it quick. 35 min after, food showed. Staff wasnt receptive enough to care putting an umbrella up for us. We shoved the food in an ran away before we got cooked
Everything was excellent, and I am only noting the service as Good, I felt they could have had a couple more bodies helping out, outside at least. ( less tables per server and service would have been more prompt when you did need to find/flag down your server )
