Beach Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Tonight we went to the Beach Cafe for Valentine’s dinner with two other couples. Unfortunately our food was just warm, not hot and the Sweet potato fries were cold and wimpy. Our server was great but it was busy and we couldn’t find her to tell her so we just ate our food even though it wasn’t great the way it was served. It still tasted okay even though it wasn’t hot.
I have been there many times and the food has always been delicious. Tonight it tasted like they made batches of food ahead of time so they could plate the food as fast as possible. We enjoyed ourselves and we will go back again, just not for a special occasion like Valentines Day dinner. Our server and the hostess were great!!
We always enjoy Beach Cafe, but don't go often as they have limited vegan/GF combinations.
I do always like the signature vegan dish they offer - very tasty but not nearly filling enough. I usually add on the sweet potato fries, unfortunately they are no longer GF. Please, please go back to the old GF version.
Service was very slow. Very noisy and crowded. Seated by large party and had to deal with lots of activity happening at that table that was very distracting. Service was really poor. Took a long time to get our food and had to ask another server to get our check.
Service was a bit off the night we visited. Orders wrong and and my dinner was "stolen" by another wait staff for a different table and had to be remade. Seating was a bit cramped and shoved against the wall. It was busy, bustling and loud which made the business meal a bit more challenging o be heard, however the food was very tasty once received correctly. Hoping they were just having an off night or temporarily understaffed.
The view is the only redeeming quality about this restaurant, nothing else was noteworthy. Service was just ok- we stood up front waiting to be seated for at least five minutes without being greeted. Food was mediocre, nothing to rave about, also a very unusual menu. The website indicates seafood, and the location & photo's seem more upscale but the food is mostly cafe/bar food items with a few exceptions. Also- they stop serving breakfast/brunch at 11am!!! What's the point of even having the menu if it closes that early? Overall, not terrible, but not somewhere I'd want to go again.
Everything from the service to the quality of food was poor. Service was slow - the server did not show up for quite some time after the initial welcome. Appetizer had cold and stale pita bread - also partially burned. One of the entrees was also cold and seemed stuffed with stale cheese and tomatoes. I went to the restaurant basis recommendations I’d heard but will never visit again.
Weird experience. Food was just ok, server made a mistake on one of the orders for our table and we had to wait quite a while for the correct dish. Server laughed it off and didn’t offer any compensation or other way of making it right. Later she made a mistake with dessert. We were going to stay for drinks and coffee but after so many errors we just decided to go elsewhere.
I would like to see more vegan options and/or return to the Vegan Plate which we thought was very good. I probably won't return unless the menu changes. I also wasn't that impressed with the tea selection. However, service was good per usual, and the atmosphere is nice with water view.
Disappointed Sunday brunch. No real brunch just a std menu with some breakfast items. No waffles or pancakes etc. No crab! Okay service and nice views. Turkey sandwich was delivered meat! Very poor. Sweet potato fries were undercooked. Chop house burger was good.
Lovely location, right by the water in a small square. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Food was outstanding! And the view... well the view alone would bring me back again! But the service was nothing short of excellent and we will certainly be back. I recommend making a reservation cause they get busy fast.
I’ve always enjoyed this restaurant for a quick lunch or a nice place to stop while boating. However, I took my father and his wife here for a brunch last Sunday and was shocked at the incredibly poor service. The three simple brunch items came out 15 minutes apart— I was nearly done with my omelette before my father got his entrée. The wait to get a coffee was interminable. Our waiter told us that part of the problem was that he couldn’t find any mugs (!). My grapefruit juice never came.
I don’t know whether the problem was with the kitchen or the wait staff, but the problem was real and I was embarrassed for having recommended this place.
Judging this restaurant by a Thanksgiving dinner is probably not a fair judging. We have had good meals there in the past but were very disappointed with our turkey dinner. I understand that cranberry sauce was an afterthought after lots of folks requested it at the early seatings that day. The "smoky" flavor of the cranberry sauce was rather strange and not to our liking. Cooking lots of turkey for many people is probably not easy. It was pretty bland. The portions of turkey were good but the portions of mashed potatoes and dressing were pretty meager. Were they running out by late afternoon? Loved the window seating and looking out at the water and boats. Our server was excellent and all of the staff were friendly and helpful and responded quickly to any request.
The restaurant was almost empty and the hostess did not want to sit us at a four top. The two tops were extremely small and located in far off corners with no direct line for the TV’s. She refused to sit us in a booth even though two remained empty the entire time we were there. The food was fine but the overall experience was sub par. Doubtful if we would go there again.
