The Beach Cafe staff and chef treated us like royalty. A huge bowl of Cioppino was world class! Wild king salmon extraordinary. Taylor the server is exceptional. Austin, the chef, came out to greet us. And free truffles for the birthday boy. And, by the way, the view is unmatched.
Thank you Thomas for the recent 5 star review. We are pretty excited about our new menu and it's apparent that our guests, such as yourself, are really enjoying the fresh seafood options. We are so happy to hear that your birthday celebration was special and you felt well cared for at Beach Café. Cheers!
It was my birthday. My friend and I had a lovely delicious lunch. Our server, Gretchen, was very sweet. She brought us birthday chocolates for dessert!
Mindy, We are happy to hear you had a pleasant lunch, and even more appreciative that you chose to celebrate your birthday here with us. We most certainly will acknowledge Gretchen for her great service and we hope to see you again in the near future. Warm regards.
Everything was pretty good. Not what I really expected. The service was very good though. The issue that was really disappointing with that they double charged us. When I called the manager to ask if they can reverse one of the charges he said that they double charged everyone. And then they reimburse 48 hours later. I don’t understand that but that was his answer.
Also. They didn’t tell us that they add the tip to the bill. It was sort of dark in the area where we were seated and hard to read the receipt. It would’ve been nice to have been told that they added the 20% for the gratuity. So essentially we gave a double tip.
Hello, I want to reassure you that this is not customary in our establishment and we'd like to address this further with you. We are not in the practice of double charging our guests, and with some further investigation I'd be happy to resolve this immediately. We do add 20% gratuity for parties over 8 people and again, if this was not conveyed properly while paying for your meal, I apologize. Please call Beach Café if you'd like to speak to us in regards to your unfortunate experience.
Awesome. They are back and better then ever!
The recent menu change is terrible - @ 80% shellfish. Because I’m allergic to shellfish, the lunch on Friday will be my last meal there, which completely bums me out. I’ve been going to the Beach Café for 26 years.
Mindy please reconsider... While it is true that we have shifted our focus to highlight fresh local seafood, that decision was never meant to eliminate some of your favorites. We have a very capable culinary team that is committed to making vegan, gluten free, and other special dietary meals and your desire to have non-seafood items is easily accommodated. We thank you for your long time support of Beach Café and hope that you will give us another chance.
Excellent good, great location in the water. We will definitely be back!
There was an error with the food coming out, and the server took total responsibility even though it was not his fault it was the kitchen's, He not only took responsibility but went above and beyond to make us feel like we were his only table in the restaurant and fixed the problem.
When the manager asked how our meal was, we made a joke the food was totally messed up, but the server was great and fixed everything. Long story short, he gave us a free dessert, which was really tasty!
Horrible service and I had the worst Caesar salad I’ve ever had
Great food and wonderful service
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with a great view of Lk Washington. Our server Hunter was so attentive and friendly. Definitely will visit again. Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon.
The Beach cafe has gone down hill over the years . It Used to be great. They used to give you a basket of muffins now you don’t even get toast with an egg dish. Food quality is just ok. Great view, good staff. Too bad . Will avoid in future
Valentines Day Dinner
The service and the food were both sublime. It was Valentines Day and they took exquisite care of us. We both have food allergies and the meal was lovely and adjusted to meet our dietary needs. I look forward to going back again, soon.
Lovely atmosphere. Salmon excellent. Tenderloin
Was stringy but restaurant replaced it.
The changed menu and decor are excellent. The menu is such a nice change. I think the food and menu have been upgraded to be better and more healthy. I like the new decor. The setting with the lake view is fabulous, and now the food matches better.
We will go back. We love the location on the lake!
I had the ahi which was delicious but the rest of the meal was really lacking. The couscous needs some kind of seasoning or sauce added to it. And a side of soy sauce for the ahi would be good too. Even the little salad that came with the ahi needed a bit of life added to it. The ahi itself was prepared well and quite good but the overall meal needs a bit more thought.
Excellent service excellent view food was fantastic and great atmosphere, we took some friends they had the fish and chips and raved about it, I would recommend this place
The first warning should be the food inspection rating which is one level above the worst rating a restaurant can receive. The service was extremely slow and food tasted horrible.
The table was dirty as was the chair. There was bite-size pieces of food on the window sill. Everything appeared old and dirty. Our young waiters were the best part of the experience. They were attentive and cheerful
All in all, a good experience with reasonable prices. But look carefully when you get your check. Without prior warning, a 20% gratuity had been added to the bill for our party of 8, as well as a 4.5% "Washington minimum wage surcharge". Nonetheless, the charge slip had the usual line for a gratuity, into which I almost entered a duplicate gratuity.
The bartender was our server....she was amazing!
All good; would recommend for food choice and quality, value for price, service and ambience.
I had the seared ahi which was delicious and cooked to perfection. My lunch companion had the chop salad which he assured me was delicious as well. Prompt, friendly service. A great lunch experience.
I ordered a winter greens salad with figs, pears, Macrona almonds. The greens were the same as greens served all year and not nearly enough in proportion to the figs and pears . . . of which there were far too many. It could be called a fig salad. I paid to add chicken to the salad (they used to add a freshly cooked half chicken breast). The added chicken to this salad was a half dozen or so pre-cooked cubed chicken pieces. Hardly worth it, not all that fresh, not all that flavorful. Probably won't order this salad again, although the basic ingredients should work!
Very nice location. Would have preferred a table with a view. Service was very friendly, food was good and we had a great time.
Four cousins, two mom-daughters, 2 birthdays.
Our server was awesome, friendly, attentive, personable, loved her! JESSICA BENEDETTI.
The food is good. Make sure you tell your server if you want your salmon cooked above rare (their standard). Caesar salad is my main go-to here with a side of salmon. I forgot this time to tell them medium and had to send it back. No issues here with this. decore is dated and overall could use some upgrades. Servers the last few times have forgotten to bring bread or in today's case cracker bread and butter. I never understood why they set outside bread plates and a knife and then don't bring it to the table. We had to ask. I took the kid with me and he also had salmon that was cooked perfectly. very happy with the food. Although it would have been excellent if they had mashed potatoes with the kid's meal instead of only fries with lunch. The price is for the location, so slightly spendy for lunch.
For the first time in 10 years, we were very disappointed after our visit. While the menu has changed, the food is still good. But everything seems to be going off the rails.
$10 pints during Happy Hour.
A waitress who suggested that we could sit in the bar and our kids could sit in the restaurant so that she could give us the Happy Hour menu.
Staff that told us they don't agree with the recent changes, and they wouldn't be working there much longer.
Several staff members who seemed primarily focused on the Seahawks game, making the handful of customers feel like we are inconveniencing them.
A manager that was going to call us to discuss our experience but never did.
The clams were super tough, probably overcooked... I had to returned my entre, when they came back, they were a little better but not all. Additionally, the service was super slow and they did not even discounted the check for the bad clams. Ion top of that, they gave themselves 20% tip automatically in the check calculation. I won’t be returning any time soon...
Love the staff and attention to detail. The manager is great.
Surprisingly good food and our server was exceptionally sweet.
A beautiful restaurant with Lake Washington views. New menu of exiting choices; the tenderloin and cioppino dod NOT disappoint. Started with fresh oysters and they were excellent.
Changes in positioning the Beach Cafe as an upscale eatery disappointed us. Much more expensive and menu choices were limited. The food was very well prepared, however. Not sure this will work in this location; particularly during the Summer when people expect this to be a casual place to eat on the water.
Food was great, ambiance was great, views was awesome. Plan on spending about $50 per person if you like to have a drink and dessert with your dinner. Wait staff is awesome. The only down side was
they add a 'surcharge' to your bill as a way of whining about paying their staff a decent wage. Suck it up and add it to the cost of the meal like everyone else.
I’ll start by saying we are both in the industry, so we know better than to expect perfection. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Beach Cafe and had high expectations. Especially with the $75 price tag attached for Christmas dinner. Seated quickly, we sat there unattended while folks that came in after us were receiving cocktails and appetizers. Finally our order was taken and we appeared to be forgotten again. We had to help the server put our appetizer plates on the table as while they were attractive, they were impossible for her to set down without spilling our yummy bisque. The main courses came before our table was cleared and we had to move all of our stuff around ourselves since her hands were full. The tenderloin was 30% fat and took longer to cut into than eating the entire meal. When we showed the server how much of the steak was inedible she proceeded to excuse it by saying it was like prime rib: fatty and flavorful. Um, we didn’t order prime rib. Or fat. And for $75 the chef should have known to trim that much fat off before serving it. My scallops were pretty darned good tho. Dessert was not a whole lot better. Chocolate cake with ice cream on the side. The ice cream was melted into soup. Can’t believe it was brought to the table like that. My peppermint Crème broule was your basic torched vanilla custard with a piece of peppermint bark melted onto the bowl. I think the melting was intentional to make it stay in place, but when I tried to pick it up to eat it, it turned to goo in my hands. Really disappointing. The server turned her back and walked away while I was in mid sentence talking to her. (In a nice, conversational tone mind you) Totally passive about everything.
We did get our to-go boxes super fast however. Yeehaw. Not impressed with the service at all, and very let down about the overall meal and the cost of it. We expected way better, Beach Cafe.
We had dinner there on Christmas. It was prix fixe menu, and for $75/person we had great salads and whipped potatoes, but the "striploin" beef cut was ribboned with gristle and an inch-thick layer of fat on top. The roasted carrots managed to be flavorless. The creme brulee was curdled and eggy, and the 3-layer chocolate cake had more layers of chocolate candy "frosting" between than there was cake. We have a feeling, however, that this is probably a good place to eat with their regular menu. We'll give it another shot outside of a holiday.
Great holiday experience for the family. Enticing menu with beautifully presented offerings. Paired with festive holiday drinks and good wine and tasty dishes. Friendly and attentive staff and pretty Lake Washington views.
Great location with lots of potential but poor service and so-so food really disappoint.
Very average food for the price point... all of us said our entrees were "fine" but no one raved, despite a $150 bill! Disappointing.
