Went there for a special occasion brunch as family was visiting, the server was nice and took our order and we then proceeded to wait over an hour for our food whilst the tables around us got theirs. I honestly think the server forgot to send in our order.
Half way through we were given complimentary mini muffins then waited another 40 minutes for our food to show up. We didn’t see our server at all during this time, I think she hid from us. Eventually our food was brought over by another server who started a conversation with the next table a couple of yards away whilst still holding our food so it was getting cold. Once the food got to us half the dishes were lukewarm as though they had been sitting at the pass for a long time (plus server chat time).
I think the food would have been nice at the right temperature but the service was so crap it was infuriating so I just can’t recommend this place.
Sorry poor service this time. Seated at a table out of view from the main dining area. 20 minutes before wait staff arrived. When she did she went to a table in front of us where the customers had just been seated. I have been to the Beach Café many times without any problems so that's why I booked a reservation this time. I'll go again but I will refuse seating in that area. Yes, there were many other open tables as we were dining early. Howard.
Great place to go for view of lake Washington. Food has been inconsistent over the few times we have gone in the last year. Service was very friendly.
Enjoyed Saturday lunch menu w/ 4 adults & 2 sometimes picky kids. Free dessert for the birthday girl was a nice bonus. Peek-boo scenic view of Lake Washington & watching an outdoor wedding preparation was another bonus! Parking validation & our server was great.
Location is great. Nice view of lake.
Found the food good but salty.
Calamari was greasy.
Halibut was nice but sauce was too salty as well
Small menu but decent selection of items
Would try another restaurant at The Point next time.
The food was excellent...better than in the past. Especially loved the fish tacos!
Nice location, with good view of the lake.
Food is average - the appetizer (salmon cakes) were dry. The fish and chips - well, the fish was tough and overcooked (very deep fried - dry inside), the fries were undercooked and soft, not crispy. And at $19, I expected more. But I think 1/2 of the $19 is for the view. :)
Service is mixed - really nice server. But had to chase down other people 3 times to get help - once for water (had set it on edge of table for 15 minutes) and once for silverware (food served without silverware or napkins) and once for a refill on a drink. I like that we weren’t pressured to leave - enjoyed sitting outside and talking.
You have to pay for parking - they validate partially, up to 2 hours. We went over by about 15 minutes, and it was a $4 charge.
They also add a surcharge for minimum wage.
VERY expensive for the quality of the food and service. I don’t get it - so many reviews like this, and yet the restaurant doesn’t seem to update their food or service.
Great atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. Food was good, but not outstanding (probably was the item I ordered)
All good. Pretty view.
Jessica, our waitperson was great!
Absolutely delicious, great service and amazing view.
Great view, great food, great experience :).
Slightly cool and a little windy so we sat inside but we still had a great view of Lake Washington. Great service. She was always right on time refilling the ice tea. Great calamari appetizer and the 3 sliders were pretty good also. Great salads and I had a very tasty Thai soup. Will definitely go there again either with guests or without.
We had a reservation we got seated 15 minutes after our reservation and it took another hour to get our food. We had to wait like 30 min to get our drink order. It’s obviously managed poorly.
We had lunch at an inside table by the window on Sunday. We used to dine here regularly when we lived in Bellevue years ago, and it was always a favorite, with good food, good service and a great setting. The only thing that is still true to our memories is the setting. The service was bad—had to flag down our server to order, for water refills, to get the check. She added 18% gratuity to the check (we were using a Passport Card), which was fine, because it was the arrangement with Passport, but she didn’t tell us the tip was already in the total. She didn’t bring the detailed receipt showing the tip, so we would not have known except that our mental math didn’t add up.
The food was overpriced and not well executed. My uncle had eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were basically hard-boiled eggs. The yolks were crumbly. The mezza plate was a disappointment. The rest of the entrees were not up to the expectations set by the prices charged.
Don’t bother dining here for anything other than the setting.
I've eaten at Beach Cafe many times, I find the food inconsistent. Sunday brunch, pretty busy but no excuse for having wait an hour for our food. The waitress was very nice. Came to our table right off and took our order than came back about 10 minutes later and said she had lost it. Not sure what that meant, and why 10 minutes from the time she took the order to getting it into the computer or to the kitchen. Took the order again and no food arrived for 45 minutes. We had 3 kids with us so this was a long time to wait. Overall the meal was pretty good but a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a simple meal.
We waited 50 minutes for food that arrived cold. No beverage refills while we waited. Eggs Benedict were good, breakfast potatoes deep fried and tasteless. Would not return.
We had a very nice brunch. Great food.
Great area. Vegie Benie. Fish and Chips were so good!
We have joined friends at the Beach Cafe at least a half dozen times over the last 10 years and always enjoyed the great views and reliably good food & service. The view hasn't changed, but the service at this last visit was unbearable. It took 20 minutes to get our drink order, and once we placed our dinner order, a full hour for the food to arrive. We watched as another table of four sat, ordered, ate, paid their tab and left. We had to snag passing waiters for water refills. We were neither demanding nor rude...just forgotten. We didn't let the frustration get to us that evening because the four of us were enjoying reconnecting with each other, but all of us noticed the slow, inattentive service. So very disappointed.
Super, as always.
Not happy that a review has to be at least 50 characters in length - come on, Open Table!
We have been to Beach Cafe several times and their sister restaurant upstairs Bin on the Lake and have always had good meals. However, this time we were extremely disappointed. We had five in our party and the service was very slow for a Sunday night that did not appear that busy and they were likely understaffed. Three of the five meals came out wrong, the two hamburgers that were served were barely cooked in the middle, we got sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, the fish tacos were soggy, they filled my son's lemonade glass up with water when only half empty (and then took 1/2 the meal time to replace it), they mixed up the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay and then took a long time to bring the bill which was $197.00 without tip for a terrible meal. They added 4% onto the bill to pay staff to address minimum wage issues. View is great and other than that it was a very memorable evening in fact for being a terrible meal and all 5 of us felt the same way.
A little pricey , but the food is excellent and can’t beat the view.
Noisy. Mediocre food. Nice server but won’t return.
The food at the Beach Cafe is good and the view even better. However, we were very disappointed that the service was so extremely poor when it came time for dessert. Honestly, I believe they forgot our order which was the s'mores cake, leches, and a scoop of ice cream. It took over 20 minutes at which point our waitress had said they're working on it...so disappointed after a good meal :(
Even though I had a reservation I was told the reservation didnt work for the outside area and someone who didnt have a reservation got a table before me... the view is beautiful. I didnt care for the service or the food.
Service was terrible. The food is not good.
We asked for a table with a view, and got seated at one of the worst tables in the place. The appetizer was so overcooked we had to send it back. The food took over an hour to arrive, and was lackluster in quality at best. I won't be back.
View of the Lake Washington is spectacular. Also had a view of a nearby wedding which was fun as well. Really enjoyed being able to arrive by boat on Seafair weekend and have assistance mooring up. However, two of the entrees did not arrive with the others including one of the children’s grilled cheese sandwich. They of course rushed to fix the problem. Service was friendly but could be improved.
We celebrated my birthday there with friends. The outdoor seating, warm weather, service and food made for beautiful evening. Enjoyed it very much.
Beautiful location and great atmosphere. We will be back!
It was a beautiful day but there was no outdoor seating that day. The restaurant was super crowded and very noisy. Don't bother with the fish tacos--very mediocre.
This is not for publication - only for information for you.
My only complaint was the front desk customer service. The hostess was very professional but several of us (3 separate parties) waited for 8-10 minutes for someone to help us. One person really is not enough at the desk when one escorts a party to a table, or if one has to use the restroom, or something else that needs assistance. And, when we left, there was no one there then and we stamped our own validation card. Seems unprofessional.
Awesome location right on the water. Great view and great menu. Very friendly staff and always fun and friendly. We go here a couple times a month and keep coming back because it has great views of the sunset and the lake, and great food and ambiance.
Our server Mark was superb. One of the best services ever got at Beach cafe. We ordered Asian salad but asked to change the meat from chicken to grill Tuna, and fish taco. Both tasty. Neighborhood gem, specially on sunny day. Will be back again. Thank you.
Great view, that's about it. Service was slow and poor. Food was average to poor.
This is second visit to the cafe. Last time we were with my toddler and were escorted to the back of the cafe where no view (obstructed by walls) and no people. This time was with another family, with their toddlers as well. Luckily got a better seating (a booth close to window) but the table was slanted so had to be careful placing hot tea and coffee. I made a reservation and the friend, not knowing we have a reservation, were told that the restaurant is fully booked although we did see many empty tables in the restaurant. Also the serving was unusually slow today (it feels like seriously understaffed). The friend family have been to restaurant several times and said the serving tends to slow but not this slow.
The food came out and we didn't have utensils. Once we got those after the food, the food was okay. I ordered steak & avocado sandwich (~$20) -- the steak was good but sandwich was okay. My wife ordered french toast, which she seemed to enjoyed. We ordered $9 grilled cheese sandwich for my LO but she couldn't finish it so we boxed the sandwich. At home, I discovered that the back side of the sandwich is totally burnt and feeling so bad that my LO had half of that...
Given the pricey food for brunch (paid $70 including tips for two adults and one kid) and burnt grilled cheese sandwich and slow service (and the first visit experience), I probably won't come back again.
The restaurant does have a nice view so if you don't come with kids, it would be a nice place.
If you order grilled sandwich, just double check both sides and send it back. That was my huge mistake today.
Fish tacos did not have as much volume as before, meals seem smaller than the last times we dined. Not looking for big meals, just better value.
you charge way too expensive for the food. quality is fine, quantity is too small
We enjoy the food at the The Beach Cafe, but it's so loud that even the server had to raise her voice. That is what keeps us from coming more often. If it's not hot, the patio is a good option, but it was too hot when we were there. We had the poke tacos which were fab and the halibut special in a coconut curry that was delicious and our son had a Caesar salad topped with sirloin prepared perfectly to medium rare. The server and hostess were helpful in guiding us to a bottle wine from Bin on the Lake upstairs. Our server was attentive, checking in at appropriate intervals.
I had the Asian chicken salad. I only ate half of it as it had no flavor and the chicken was overcooked.
