bd's Mongolian Grill - Naperville
Focusing on giving guests a plethora of options, we have created a growing band of loyal customers that believe passionately about their ability to take charge of their own dining experience. Our “Stir It Up, Your Way!” philosophy gives guests ownership in choosing their own ingredients from a great variety of choice meats & seafood, fresh vegetables, crisp salads, and flavor-packed sauces and spices that are Always Market Fresh. The food is then prepared by expert grillers on a 500° 7-foot grill.
The place was very chaotic. The layout of the buffet was bad placement to the grill. It causes a long line.
VERY crowded. Line for food was ridiculous. Many missing food items and spills all over. Food prep area got messed up - got someone else’s sauce on my food.
Grill was short staffed resulting in VERY long lines and many BURNED meals coming off the grill. When this is the centerpiece of your restaurant, it is a bad thing
That food was excellent!
Had a reservation for 13 people for my 12 y/o daughter’s bday dinner. Was told when I confirmed the reservation that we would be in then back room (it was a bday party and they don’t do anything special but at least the back room isn’t as loud). The table was not in the back room but instead right next to the food buffet. It was open when we got there but not set. Took forever to get a server over to take drinks. We got utensils after out food was done. Super slow service, the place was dirty and many of the food items were empty so we had to wait once again before we could fill our bowls. We have been many times and service is on the decline. So disappointed!
We’ve been to BD’s several times and always enjoyed it. However, after our visit on April 6 we will not return. It was a very busy Saturday night; but we had reservations but she refused- just wanted to get out of there! Walls in the restaurant were all chipped from chairs hitting. That evening I was sick all night; when I had been perfectly fine all day. Over all filthy conditions!
Waitress was attentive when we first got there. Other than that we had to remind d her to service us
Excellent soup and food many options Great Buffet
Thank you for the high star rating, we hope to see you in soon!
The food and service was great. Great family environment. I will definitely come back again.
They changed the menu, so they only have All you can eat. Not a one trip option. Still a good value $15.99 for dinner
Food was great, service was slow. Line for the grill was 30+ people deep. Took a long time.
For dinner you can only get the unlimited bowl, but chances are that you will only go in line once. We timed how long we were in line during the Saturday dinner rush. Over 40 minutes. If you're willing to wait then it's a fun time.
I’ve been here a hundred times. Usually great food. Restaurant was empty when we first got there. Got our first stir fry bowl made and eaten. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. Then we went up for a second time. There were MOBS of people all of a sudden, turns out nequa valley hs was doing some sort of event that night. They even had some students working on the grill. I understand it’s students trying to learn about the restaurant world, but they cooked awfully. They weren’t scooping the sticks well enough to get the food turned and flipped for even cooking. My noodles were cooked to mush, and I had lots of chunks of other guests food in my bowl. Oh well I got at least one good bowl before the chaos hit, and it’s not a regular occurrence w the high school kids there. They should’ve done a closed event so they weren’t messing up regular customers meals.
It was very crowded, half hour wait in line to get to the grill. Server was nice but a little slow
Our server was very nice, but the restaurant was out of both ginger ale (I assumed ginger anything would be a staple at a mongolian restaurant) and coffee (this should be a staple at any restaurant).
The food was actually quite good, although a bit more charred than seared. That's more of a preference thing than anything else, but there may be a different time and temp combination that would be more appealing to most of the customers. I will give props to the young men who were cooking. They paid close attention to the line and were able to get us back in order when a few kids moved around to stand with some other family. The line was also long and a bit hectic, but that was mostly just dinner rush reasons.
The ambiance was fine. Because it's technically a family restaurant, I can't be too critical. However, there was a general lack of low organization and some of the tables were louder or more animated that I would prefer. Additionally, a young boy came by our table selling chocolate candies for charity. While I certainly have no problem with supporting noble causes, I appeared as if he and his friend had just walked into the restaurant. Generally, I would make it a policy that if someone received permission from the establishment to go around asking for donations, then either someone from the establishment should accompany them or there should be some sort of badge to let the patrons know they have permission to be there.
Finally, our biggest problem with the whole night was the gong. The concept is totally fine; giving kids the opportunity to bang a gong is fun. However, the execution of this practice is EXTREMELY disruptive to people who didn't come to eat with a child and who are looking forward to a nice meal with friends. We were halfway across the restaurant and our ears felt like they were ringing even after we left. I truly believe that this practice will limit the amount of times we return to Bd's, despite the food being good.
The service was great! Our waitress “ Caroline” explain how the service is there and she was awesome with keeping up with our drinks. Food was delicious! This was my first time going there. My family and I celebrated my birthday. We will definitely be back! Again thank you to our waitress Caroline!
Taste was not good and the food was not fri d properly. Service was also not great.
This place never disappoints me. I’ll come here at least once a year, I mean who doesn’t love free food on their birthday!! It’s really all about making your own stir fry here so with them offering practically everything, you really can’t go wrong. The staff is friendly and energetic, service was great, food was awesome, and desert is always a tease. I just wish they’d reopen a Chicago location...
Got to your restaurant and saw a sign that said your place was having problems. Clearly saw people do I g but your door was locked. Knocked on the window and was told to read the sign. How could I make a reservation for a place and it’s closed or whatever. Would not recommend this restaurant to anybody and I’m going on Instagram to make sure other people don’t visit either. I was too outdone me and my girl got dressed thinking we were going to have a great time and the fuckery we incountered was crazy! 773-766-0427 Brian Hardimon
Love the food with lots of different combinations available for all dietary needs.
They service for awesome. Our waiter was incredible. But the restaurant smelled the sewage so bad we could not enjoy our food. They should not even be opening their doors it smells so bad. I had my daughters birthday party here and had a dozen people. Most of us tried to eat one plate of food but the smell was so horrible.
Food is fresh and good selection of meats and vegetables at the buffet. The grillers are entertaining and efficient.
Dirty dishes!! Found large pieces of food in our bowls! Food stuck to forks! Menus were filthy and the whole restaurant smelled like musty mildew! Cooks were obnoxious and rude. Host staff huddled around hostess station. Just not enjoyable.
Was not aware that this restaurant had stoped offering the “single trip” option. Charged unlimited fee. There was also a different smell to the dining area that was not appealing to me. Not very busy yet service on the slow side.
Great food. We had to find waiter to get rice and tortillas. Never came back to refill water. All the other guests had great waiters and waitresses.
The food is always great at Mongolian Grill! Service was good, but not great. I didn't feel 'genuinely; cared for by the waitress. There was also a 'funny smell' in the air. There may have been an issue with their piping as the smell lingered from the men's bathroom to the front of the restaurant. The cooking experience is always super fun and the food is EXACTLY what you choose it to be, if you do the buffet. To the managers; please correct the smell issue as next time I will go to the Boughton Rd location instead of this one. Again, loved the food, not the ambience.
Had a confirmed reservation through open table and when we arrived we had to wait 45-50 minutes after our reservation time for an appointment. The staff was more concerned about fitting in larger parties than looking the the line up with smaller (under 6) parties. Overall a bad experience
There was a 25 minute wait even after reservations. The Manager at the front was rude and condescending. There were very long lines for the food. It is obviously a not well managed restaurant. The server was very polite and helpful.
Food and people good. Bathrooms very dirty and sewer gas smell by entrance
Definitely one of my all time favorite places to eat.
Always friendly staff
So many choices. Could eat there everyday.
Changed menu re: dinner pricing not offering the single bowl. Didn’t have the ice cream to make the special that was on the 4 sided flier on each table. Daughters food cooked in back took a long time to get. The food was all over the buffet & intermixed.
Been coming for years & after this visit, we won’t be coming back. Very sad.
We had a reservation for 5. The hostess tried to seat us at a very small 4-person table and pulled up a chair for the 5th person. We explained that this was going to be too small since we had 3 tall men in our party and it would be too crowded and asked if there was a bigger table. The hostess was very bothered by this and brought us back up the front where we just stood for about 5 minute before we decided to split up the party at 2 tables. There were other tables that could have been pushed together but when asked to do so the hostess didn’t say anything. Not a pleasant experience since the party wanted to eat together at a table and not have to split up.
We have been return customers for years- the new policy change may change this.
They no longer will offer any type of to-go container. The flip side is, you can eat as much as you like while you are there. This may work for some but... my kids aren't great eaters outside the home. They take two bites and are sidetracked ( which is easy in a restaurant that crowded) instead of taking home the meal we paid for. The waitress said all leftovers are thrown away now- seems awfully wasteful. I think they are going to lose quit a few loyal customers to this.
Drinks were basic and food was ok
The Mongolian food bar was fresh, kept clean and full of ingredients. Soup/salad bar was extra. Price was fair but service was slow. Grill utensils were only cleaned after being dropped on the floor. Otherwise the utensils were caked with debris from previous orders that migrates in subsequent orders. Also, no need to chop all the food into tiny bits. It turns noodles and fish into mush. The thin young man that took over the grill station before we left was much better and redeeming quality so we would give it another try.
Very good! The manger was amazing and accommodated us after a reservation mixup. Will definitely go back.
Place is so worn, beat up and dirty looking. There was a long black hair in the raw chicken. Another diner kept touching her raw elements on her bowl (raw pork, raw fish etc) and then grabbed the tongs. SOMEONE needs to be watching this open food situation. We alerted staff of the issues and were told “were changing the tongs.” Lovely. Until she or another diner does it again. I fished the long black hair out of the chicken and put that set of tongs aside. All just gross from a public health and dining out experience. The walls at our table had stains of food and soy sauce..... everything is just beat up and dirty looking. Needs to have a full revamp.
The service was good, the food was Delicious overall I was very satisfied with everything 😁
The food and service have always been good. I wish the sauce/spice cups were dried thoroughly before being put out to use. The rinse water in the cups is put-offish.
