bd's Mongolian Grill - Auburn Hills
Focusing on giving guests a plethora of options, we have created a growing band of loyal customers that believe passionately about their ability to take charge of their own dining experience. Our “Stir It Up, Your Way!” philosophy gives guests ownership in choosing their own ingredients from a great variety of choice meats & seafood, fresh vegetables, crisp salads, and flavor-packed sauces and spices that are Always Market Fresh. The food is then prepared by expert grillers on a 500° 7-foot grill.
Good food. Go later in the evening to miss the crowds.
Great food, great service .
it was not busy the employees seemed to be more interested in talking with one another than working There was empty containers in the food bar and the salad items were old My daughter said it is usually very good so we were disappointed
Great service and the head cook was cooking alone and did an exceptional job. He served more than 30 people and didn’t burn anything was very pleasant to all the customer.
We have never had a bad experience at bd's. There is a nice variety of "fixin's" for your stir fry bowl. The grill masters are always entertaining and very personable. We'll be back.
Our server was great. We had a peanut allergy in our group and he walked us through the process for using the secondary grill. He was really friendly and even agreed to taking a photo of our whole family for us.
Had a great waitress. Made sure we had what we needed. Food was awesome. Drinks were better.
I walked in and never got served. The waiter was very rude. Second time it happens.
Everything was great, except we were all freezing in the Dining Area.
I have eaten at other bd's Mongolian Grill locations in the past and the experiences were enjoyable. When we entered the Auburn Hills restaurant after coming from Oakland University's fall graduation ceremony we were greeted and promptly seated by the friendly staff. The server took our drink orders and said we could help ourselves to the food buffet. Both the salad bar and vegetable buffet were a little messy - the containers were filled enough but the areas around them needed cleaned. There were not many sauce cups available. One person in our party did not understand to put the sauces/spices in the cup and poured it on the contents of the bowl. The cook seemed annoyed that he did that and said the food does not cook the same. We suggest there should be a sign stating that. The restaurant was somewhat busy but not filled, and we waited in line quite a while to have our food cooked. There were 2 cooks at the griddle and one seemed to be new. We saw him burn his hand more than once, at which time we blew on the burn then returned to cooking without washing his hands. He also handled plates after this. He appeared to be trying to do a good job but seemed flustered. Another employee tried to relieve him but he said he was fine. I think if more experienced cooks were working at the griddle that night then we would not have had to wait so long. One person in our party did not get his food cooked with the rest of us and had to wait even longer while the cooks cleaned the entire griddle before cooking again.
One suggestion I have would be to add more vegetarian and vegan protein options to the vegetable table and salad bar - like beans, chickpeas, etc. The only additional protein options for those who do not eat meat were tofu and vegan chicken nuggets, which cannot be eaten by those with soy allergies.
Also, our drinks were delivered and sat on our table unattended for at least 20 minutes and that bothered us as people walked by and could have tampered with them.
Great food and a fun time. Excellent food options for all interests.
Visit was awesome. Table was ready. Server was prompt. They were out of chicken as it was the end of the day but the nice manager made new chicken for us. I really appreciate this courtesy
Went on a Sunday and the place had only 2 servers and 1 hostess working the area for customers. Unfortunately, there were only 2 cooks (1 on the main grill and 1 on the allergy grill) and someone washing dishes. Made a reservation and while not busy, the servers couldn't handle the people and I was required to wait an extra 15 minutes while many tables were open. It was more annoying because the hostess could probably help but was sitting up front texting while we ate or waited for drinks.
The overall service was good, but it wasn't the best experience waiting for servers to bring drinks, rice or plates to even get your food. The cook was good but the area around the grill was messy since the dishwasher wasn't getting the dishes because we were told it was the waitresses job, which they were too busy already.
Overall the food was good, but it really wasn't a great experience due to not enough coverage working on a semi busy sunday night around dinner.
A place where everyone can assemble their own favorites, kids enjoyed watching their meal cook and hitting the gong for good service
I liked the food as always. The service was good and on time. No time wasted waiting for things.
Even though it was out of the way for all three of us, it was better than going to the Royal Oak location because of no parking.
We were very DISAPPOINTED. We made reservations as suggested for Father's Day since we had a party of 11. We arrived and were told no table was ready and it would be at least a 20 minute wait. There were several empty tables visible that could be easily moved together but this "would block the aisles" - actually more aisle space if tables moved together! The greeting hostess was very stoic and unfriendly. When we were finally seated it took a long time before a waitress brought us drinks and bowls. When we got the food the meat after cooking was tough and the sauces tasted very watered down - no taste!. We have been here many times in the past and appreciated the quick variety of available foods, BUT WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK!!
(We were not offered the kitschy foil hats for the fathers either, that were advertized.)
good food.. good experience.. sometimes they are a little bit too busy so the service is kinda slow..
I enjoy going there :)
Always a fun place to go and create your own meal. Good with a group because everyone can pick their own favorites, then watch the master grillers cook it.
Celebrating with family and friends after high school graduation. Cold air was blowing on us, making several in our party uncomfortable. Those who ordered plates of food from the kitchen got their food well after others who had the regular stir fry. Selection of veggies and sauces has changed since our last visit. Shrimp is no longer a protein option. Fewer salad bar choices now.
This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a Mongolian BBQ. We waited almost 20 minutes to have our food cooked, and the restaurant itself was very dirty. The buffet areas were filthy, I was walking on food, and the overall cleanliness seemed very forgotten about. I’m not sure if they were busier than usual, but I was very disappointed.
The food here is always awesome! I never have an issue with the food. I came in on Friday Saturday 23rd to celebrate my birthday! We had a group of 6 people because two didn't end up coming! Our waitress never brought us refills on our drinks unless we asked, even skipped over one of my friends when asking for drinks and just left. She came back one time to check on us, and we told her multiple times it was my birthday. She barely acknowledged us and was extremely rude. Every time we asked for something she would walk away shaking her head. We saw three other people in the restaurant with tin hats on for their birthday but she didn't bother bringing one for us. Finally right before we left I asked her for one and she seemed annoyed. As a waitress myself, I would NEVER give service like this. Will not be coming back.
Have been to a couple of locations in Ann Arbor and Royal Oak in the past. So, we had an idea what to expect. This definitely fell below those expectations, which were fairly low to begin with.
No spoons or crackers by soup when we arrived. So, our kids were really hungry, but had to wait for spoons to eat their soup. They were out of apple juice. They had yoohoo on the menu, but most of it was spoiled she said, luckily they said they found a case that wasn't expired.
Raw food buffet area where you load up your bowl is cramped. Constantly bumping into other customers and waitstaff. Line to get food cooked was around the corner and ran into the buffet area. 20 minute wait in line to get to grill. Waiting in line this long while holding a bowl isn't fun. Also, we had to carry little kids' bowls. Trays to help out would be great. Even better would be a system to put your bowl down and label it as yours (number system or something). Then maybe you can sit down and get called up when it is about to cook. Would make for a superior experience.
No planning to return.
Would have been better if all the protein options were available. Was there for my daughters birthday, she loves scallops and none were to be found, tag was present but none to be seen
This restaurant was absolutely filthy and the waitress was non-existent. We had reservations, so one would think that they would have a table of 11 set up with silverware and menus. We waiting 30 minutes for silverware. The preparation areas were disgusting, and the salad plates were not even clean. Could not make a salad on a dirty plate. Our used dishes sat on our tables until we chose to move them. There was not a manager in site. The experience was HORRIBLE. I have uploaded pictures to the FB page of BD's, but I am unable to upload them here.
Too noisy. Dishes are dirty. Very unorganized at the grill area.
The last two times I was there, the dining area tables were cluttered w/empty, dirty dishes from tables that hadn't been bused and the floors were dirty too. This time, the bathrooms had cleaning buckets just left on the counter, dirty floors, toilet seats and unflushed toilets. I definitely would NOT recommend this location.
Good food and great cooks. Our server had a lot of customers so service was a little slow but she was very friendly.
BD’s is always good. Wish it was a little less cramped, but they make due with what they have. They had no problem accommodating our party of 8.
Chicken had gristle in it, otherwise food was ok.
Enjoy BD's, but their a/c is out, making it not quite as enjoyable. Food and service were good. Also, their lighting needs some work, as it is not evenly lit and some lights shine directly in your face, but don't illuminate the table.
.ASlow service. Salad bar empty. so was the meat counter. Everything was a mess and not cleaned. Will not go back!
Our waitress was extremely helpful & Kind!! We would definitely go back*
Sadly the restaurant has gone downhill. Everything was a mess. Sauces spilled and ingredients mixed up. I ended up with noodles in my food that I didn't put there. The silverware was taken from a bin of water and brought to our table with the menus. I hope that is was actually washed first. No idea why the bin at the front desk. Signs for proteins did not match the actual protein to the extent that we couldn't figure out the various chicken. We liked the vegan options but over all disappointing
Food is decent, though the two times we've been, our wait staff was really poor. Slow, unresponsive and basically ignored us.
Nice place, causal; loads of options; very self-directed.
This was my first time eating at BD's Mongolian Grille and my work colleagues from Italy wanted to dine here for lunch. What an interesting experience from selecting our ingredients to watching the grill master maneuver the large grill and tools. Food was good and I would definitely recommend this Location for lunch.
