bd's Mongolian Grill – Arena
If you're looking for a variety of DIY ingredients, it's here. And watching the cooking method is a cool experience.
You may or may not be bothered by the barn like food trough setup. Sloppy, sticky ladles and spoons, digging into small buckets of ingredients, with a clientele that seemed more than comfortable dropping and dripping whatever they picked up into what you are reaching for.
The cooks make a great effort to clean the grill between uses and oblige with separate utensils if you have a dietary preference or allergy. Appreciated that.
We love going to BDs this was the first time at this one.. the food was dried out after being cooked usually it’s good but this visit it wasn’t
The exciting part of trying a new restaurant is to find one that is great in all the areas. When we walked in, the first smell that you inhale says this is going to be delicious. Some places, you walk in and then turn around and walk out, because of the smell. The next experience are the customers. Not only are they smiling at their tables, but the line to cook their food seemed long, but they were still happy to wait. They knew what the end product was going to be. While you're waiting for your food, your watching the cooks. There is this huge circular grill, and the cooks are moving the food around the grill, and its like a dance. They are smiling, talking, and enjoying themselves too. Hers the amazing part. The bus boys are smiling and joking too. Now where do you see that, and the service by the waitresses is friendly and they make you feel right at home. The total experience was on a scale of 10 being great, it was a 100.
Food was great as usual. Service was extremely poor. 10-15 just to get a single beer brought to the table by the waitress. Usually service is great but not this time unfortunately
Great food and AWESOME service! I always enjoy eating at this location!
I was surprised by how dirty it was. The foods were all mixed together and the floors were so greasy I nearly slipped a few inches times as I walked. The waitress took 30 minutes to bring our drinks out, and the place was dirty. I was worried i would be sick after, and i actually did get a cold next day and I'm quite sure it was from this place. Easton location was much cleaner and organized.
Great food service at the grill and stations. Good experience and was helped when needed. Server could have made experience better but overall good time
Great staff, wonderful to work with for food allergies
We had a great experience!! I reserved our tome and our table was ready when we got there. Our waitress was amazing and went over and beyond to help us out!!
Brie was an amazing waitress!!! We really were impressed by her, especially being a very very new mom!! Wow!!!
We visited bd's on a night when there were multiple events in the Arena District. Made reservations, so no problem being seated. Had to wait in line a LONG TIME to have food cooked after we filled our bowls - again, to be somewhat expected because they were busy, but I've never seen it that long, even at other times when they were packed. But you'd think that our server would have figured out how to have our rice and drink order on the table by the time we got back to eat. We waited until half our meal was gone to receive the rice... and that's because we finally stopped eating until we received it. Waited much longer for alcohol. She said the bar was slammed, but looking around, I saw, literally, no one with alcoholic drinks. (Many of the tables were for Clippers games, with kids.) I'm pretty sure she just forgot to place the drink order at the bar. She did comp our drinks, but that really didn't make up for the underwhelming service.
Service was terrible but, hey, you kinda expect that in a college town.
Everything was great except we waited a little longer than normal for alcoholic beverages. Eating our food already and they finally came. I think they forgot. Other than that it was great and we will definitely be back. Probably go to the one on Sawmill as it is closer to us. We did this location because of an Event at Nationwide.
I had been here a few years ago and was excited to come back. I have to say I was slightly disappointed. The selection of meats, vegetables, and sauces seemed smaller. You can now only select one meat. The quality of beef tip was low, lots of gristle. I'm curious to try the one back to how see if it's just this location or the chain as a whole.
It was amazing and the staff was overall the best ive ever had they sang happy birthday to me and made the day special for me
Great food, great people. Didn't get drink refills timely and took a while for bill and they weren't busy. But overall good.
We were seated right away ! The food and the service was great. It was my sons birthday the staff made him feel celebrated!! Thank you!!
One of the cleanest locations that I’ve been too. I was a little shocked by how tidy the stations were, as they are typically a disaster at dinner time. Always a good value. Food was good and fresh. Service was just okay.
Awesome food and great drinks! Had a great time and would return.
Our waitress was outstanding. I brought a group of students while attending a contest in Columbus. She was very understanding of the students, we greatly appreciated her laughter and taking care of our little group. Especially with the tea contest a few students decided to create.
It was okay. The food was okay. The service was excellent
Absolutely loved it. Even my picky children found something that they liked. Being from Michigan I appreciated the "Wolverines taste like chicken" joke.
We went as a large group of 20 and the food, chefs and experience were all amazing!! Will definitely be visiting again!
This was the third time I have been to this restaurant and we had good experiences the first two times. We had reservations and went on a weeknight so it wasn’t crowded. This visit was much different... the service was terrible, the restaurant was extremely messy and the food was less than great. Our rice came out and was ice cold by the time we got to eat it bc of the air conditioning blowing down on our table throughout dinner. It is winter time and we asked the server to turn the air off because it was cold and also bc it was blowing all the napkins and kids menus around the table. She said she would but never did.. we had to wear our coats during dinner and eat cold food that was lesss than satisfying. We were all very disappointed with this experience and will likely not return.
Best stir fry put together in a bowl right in front of you ever. The value for what you pay is definitely worth it. You can fill your bowl up with as much meat, veggies, sauce and your choice of rice or tortillas all night. I thought I’d be eating 4 bowls, turns out I got stuffed after 2 and still had a bit of rice leftover. However, the attentiveness of the waiters/waitresses that I had/saw was lacking. My waiter stopped by 3 times the whole time and not once asked if I was enjoying the food. The noise level is very loud with the music, people talking (expected) and sizzling of the grill. All-in-all worth the price and time spent on your feet for the delicious bd’s bowls.
I would not recommend this to a friend if they are planning on actually getting seated at the time that they reserved. I made reservations for myself and a group of friends to eat at 5 pm on Saturday and upon arrival at 4:55 the hostess told me that they were too busy to honor our reservation and that we would have to wait about 35 minutes to be seated. Our reservations were made about five days in advance and we received no warning.
The server hardly came to our table. I had to flag down a hostess to ask about allergies after waiting for the server for a while. I had to flag down the waiter to ask for soy sauce, which was never brought. Our beers were empty and we weren’t asked if we wanted another. It took a long time for the server to return to the table after we ate so I could ask for the check. Just bad service.
I’m a 25% tipper almost always, but I tipped just 10%.
They were excellent with handling our large group of people during a very busy weekend (The Arnold Sport Festival) The staff was welcoming and provided great service.
We went to the Arena District location before a CBJ game, and as expected it was a packed house. At one point, we waited 30 mins after building our bowls just to get our food cooked. It is to be expected that the restaurant will be busy on game days. The food was still very good and the general manager did a great job expediting things in a timely fashion. I would just go earlier on game days or not at all.
We had a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes for a table even though we were staring at 6 unbussed empty tables. The line for the grill was 25 minutes long. The grill was out of plates and as a result they burned, a lot, our food because it stayed on the grill too long. Our waiter made no effort to make it up to us. I ordered a drink when we sat down and still did not have after 30 minutes so I had to ask a second time. BD’s is one of my favorites but this experience may have turned me off for quite a while.
We had a reservation for 5:30 and part of our group arrived early. We were seated and enjoyed appitzers while we waited on the rest of our group to arrive. Brant was our server and he did an OUTSTANDING JOB. We have visted other locations in Columbus and like the arena district the best.
We had a very large group and the staff was more than accommodating. Everyone was so friendly!! The food was delicious and particular attention was paid to food allergies. Loved our server!! Overall GREAT experience!!
My department gets together at the holidays with two people who retired from our area. We reminisce and bring them up2date on the new things taking place in our area and the job in general.
The staff is very professional and courteous.
The location is about 10 minutes from the job.
Service was great , had a great time with my family
And daughters birthday
Great place to take co-workers
Servers great! Don't go during high peak lunch times when location near businesses. Took about 40 min from start to having food cooked due to popular time.
It was so loud and the line to the grill was wrapped through the dining area. We left.
The staff there were amazing and very helpful. I would love to come back.
1st time but won't be the last! Loved the ambience and our waiter was FANTASTIC!! The chefs were fun and creative and the food was very, very good!!! I highly recommend it for college students and families.
Was not impressed with the cleanliness of the buffet area where raw meat is picked up by the patrons.
