Dinner at BCN prior to attending the symphony. Evening began with two excellent cocktails; Manhattan one of the best I've had in Houston (used 1786 vermouth of Giuseppe Carpano, the original). Timing forced us to skip the appetizer and desert menus, both interesting. We each ordered different salads of mixed fruit and greens. Don't usually order salads containing fruit, but both combinations were very good. Entree's were lamb chops and salted cod. Lamb chops were somewhat underdone (only hiccup of the night), very rare rather than medium-rare, but still enjoyed. The salted cod - simply supreme - each and every bite to be savored. We'll be back when we can spend a more leisurely evening and explore the entire menu. Recommend BCN to anyone.
BCN was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Every bite was wonderful and the service was the best I’ve experienced.
Truly amazing dining experience from start to finish. The food and service were both perfect.
Always a great treat.
Everything was superb. A very crusty bread was served with a fabulous, fruity olive oil and some flaky salt. We started with the Iberico de Ballota Ham and the Manzanilla olives. The Jamon is some of the best food you'll ever put in your yap. Just that alone is worth a trip to this place. Both the olives and the ham are the best you will find in the US. The 2012 Pasanau from the Priorat region was a truly outstanding wine at a reasonable price ($80). My wife and I shared the Burrata salad; also fantastic. My wife had the pork tenderloin. She was not that fond of it, but she got it medium well, as she always does. I am sure it would be much better medium or medium rare. It had an interesting smokey taste which I liked and a hint of rosemary. She has always raved about the filet mignon in the past and I can say it is always fantastic, even if cooked her way. So if you are the type that must over-cook your meat then I recommend you order the filet instead. I had the suckling pig a la Segoviana. This is my new favorite dish in Houston; crispy skin, with melt-in-your-mouth meat. We shared the Chocolate ganache cake for a nice desert, with plenty for two. Our waitress was super informative and efficient. She made several good recommendations and never bothered us; European style service. It was our first time upstairs. There were a group of waiters up there the time the entire time, standing ready and able to respond to any need. It is a small space but ample room between tables and plenty of windows. It reminds me of great One Michelin Star restaurants that I have been to in Europe. I hate to be too complimentary because I don't want all you chumps competing with me for tables in this place. On the other hand I want this place to be a success and stay open at least for the rest of the time I live in Houston. Even the bottled water (Vichy Catalan) is special.
We love this restaurant! The service is impeccable and we always leave so happy. Food is phenomenal.
Everything was absolutely perfect for our meal. The valet was ready with no line. The hostess seated us immediately. Service began as soon as we were seated. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. She was incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and made the perfect recommendation for everyone who had questions. The food was amazing. And our wine was outstanding (I spent the next day searching for a case online). The next day my husband and I were talking about the prior evening and both agreed there was nothing to improve upon. It was just perfect.
We had an amazingly lovely time at BCN. Delicious food, amazing service, and an aesthetically clean ambience. My wife and highly recommend it.
Excellent. Thank you Chef Luis!!
Enjoyed the ambiance. Great service. Pork was a bit overcooked.
Would return for a different dish .
Just outstanding....the drinks, the presentation, the selected ingredients, the service, the attention to detail was something unique. Great experience.
Outstanding food and service......as usual. Chef Luis is the best. Favorites are potatas bravas as appetizer, duck entree, and crispy fillo dough dessert.....and the Gin & Tonics are great too
Amazing culinary experience. Loved every bite
Food and service were superb. One of the best restaurants in Houston.
Very underwhelmed by the food, apart from the patatas bravas, which were excellent. Octopus appetizer was mushy, did not taste grilled at all, and was completely coated in paprika. Pistachios were non existent in the beet ravioli salad. Branzino tasted great and was cooked perfectly, but everything else it was surrounded with was completely underwhelming. Wait staff were not in sync, asking the same thing multiple times and walking away mid ordering.
The service was outstanding. The sommelier gave us a great wine tip. The occasion was 2 birthdays and it was so nice to have candles and a glass of champagne on the house.
We greatly enjoyed our experience at BCN. Quality and service were consistently high. Only critical comments were that price was very high and background music was fairly loud and really unnecessary for a full house at 7 pm on a week night.
Best foie gras I have ever had. The Iberico ham was also delicious.
Fantastic evening with attentive service, delicious food & superb wine.
Excellent food, service, and ambience! Pricey by everyday standards, but you are getting a superior dining experience, with exceptional cuisine.
Delicious food and great service! Great atmosphere.
Excellent as always. One of the best restaurants in Houston, with authentic Spanish cuisine expertly prepared and served. A delight.
Experience was great but the server gave my bday cake to the person seating next to us instead of me...
Another spectacular dinner at BCN! The burrata cheese salad was fresh and delicious, and the pork tenderloin was cooked to perfection. A favorite that never disappoints.
This is our favorite fine dining place in town. it is the most truly authentic cuisine from Spain with the best service ambience and food. We love coming to BCN and will undoubtedly be back every time. The wine selection is amazing and exquisite.
Great experience all round.
Always great service and excellent food.
The right place for that special occasion.
It was our Anniversary and I had requested an intimate table. We were disappointed with where we were seated, overlooking road construction to our right and to our left was a jacked up car at the service station. Window treatments might want to be considered for upstairs. Would of preferred downstairs. Was also disappointed with the way my steak was cooked. I asked the server for a recommendation did not want bloody but not well done. She recommended medium well and it was well done.
BCN is the best in Houston! Excellent wine list, fish and duck all divine.
Nice ambience and great food. Kindly service.
The BCN house Gin drink was amazing. The calamari and octopus apps were rock solid. The entrees were so so. A very quaint romantic eating experience.
Probably one of the best meals we have had recently. We chose to have four appetizers and we came away very satisfied. Portions were perfect. A generous amount of Iberian ham with tomato bread was the first dish, followed by patatas brava, beautiful bite-sized potatoes with a spicy alioli. Delicious! Next came the special appetizer of the evening featuring eight grilled shrimp, followed by our favorite dish, grilled Spanish octopus with potato purée. The octopus was so tender it melted in your mouth. All of this accompanied by an extensive wine and cocktail selection, including a very refreshing Sangria Blanca. Dessert did not disappoint. The Catalan brûlée-filled fillo dough was wonderful. Sweet, crunchy little bites of heaven!
Service was top notch. Our server, Crystal, was most helpful in recommending selections, and was very attentive without being intrusive.
An incredible dining experience we won’t soon forget!
First time here and we will gladly return. Food was excellent except for lobster on the menu--a smallish portion and slightly overcooked. Server recommendations were all point on....he did not mention the lobster dish in our discussions. We are almost 100% wine folks but their BCN gin and tonic was fantastic! The shrimp scampi type dish was a delight in every way and the wine recommendation of the Urbina red was a great selection! We also enjoyed the atmosphere, funky entrance and all (spouse especially enjoyed the people watching--a celeb or two just out for the evening).
For the most part, the food was good, but it certainly wasnt much in quantity. Had to go afterwards for a real meal. Plus, the meal is pricey. $38 or more for a super small entre, $15 to $25 for soup or salad, $20 or more for appetizer. Drinks are $14 or more. I can buy better wine for less at Tonys.
I had the duck, 6 small slices and the anchovies. The anchovies cost $23 and they are exactly like the anchovies you get in a can at HEB for $3. No difference. The duck was very tasty, but the portions were so small. Went to Fuads afterwards and ate a real meal.
Compared to Massraffs, La Table or Cafe Annie, this place is sub par and over priced. If I am in that area I will go to la Colombe Dior , so much better.
Razor clams are a must for an appetizer!! Delicious clean smokey flavor and a seasonal treat. Superb!
