Bazin's on Church Ratings and Reviews
There are three problems with this restaurant. The first is the tables are too small for two people. Secondly, there is a noise factor, even though the owner has installed panels in the ceiling. Lastly, the menu does not change. The food and presentation however is good. And, the waitress I had was pleasant. This was my third time eating at this restaurant.
Located on charming Church Street in Vienna, this restaurant never fails in preparing excellent tasting meals! Their chopped salad has a very nice balsamic-based dressing; the pistachios tossed in add a nice touch. Their monk fish is very flavorable and the presentation is impeccable! Staff is very friendly.
This was our first visit to Bazin's on Church and it was very enjoyable. The food was very good, though my duck was a little more cooked than I would have liked. The food for the other 5 people in our party was very good. We would go there again and we especially liked the round table for six people.
Divine as always. The halibut was utterly delicious. I only wish the price point was a tiny bit lower -- the cost pp makes this a very occasional and special-event only place for us, a shame. It would also be nice to see lighter, more summery and hot weather options.
It was great; good food and good service; one small problem was dealt with perfectly (cold decaf coffee, promptly and pleasantly replaced) Portion size perfect, not too large; server had very good recommendations and wonderful attitude. Enjoyed it very much.
Well run neighborhood restaurant. Food was excellent, fresh, and interesting, although it's a surprisingly limited menu. We had 4 people and had a bit of trouble talking above the noise. Service was smooth and unobtrusive. Easy access on Church Street with underground parking at no charge. Our wine expert nodded approvingly too, so that's good.
We have been many times and always loved it. Not this time. The service was slow and then a mistake was made which pretty much ruined everyone's dining experience. One dish had to be sent back and by the time a new entree came out, everyone else has finished eating. It was uncomfortable for everyone. The hostess, who I was told is an owner, totally ignored our party of eight, never came over, even after going to every other table. We were celebrating a big event and our evening was really spoiled.
The food is always terrific at Bazin's which is what keeps us coming back. The decor is very nice and the service is good. The only detraction is the noise level. It is very hard to hear your fellow diners so if you are in a group of more than 4, you'll only be able to hear those right next to you and depending on where you are placed it may be hard to hear the waiter.
I went to Bazin's on Church twice last week. First for a business meeting and later for a family birthday dinner. Both visits featured delicious food and great wine. On both visits our servers accommodated some fussy eaters and let us dine at our own pace even as the restaurant filled up as the evening went on.
It's great to have a place in Vienna that is great for meetings and for gatherings without having to deal with the hassle of Tysons Corner, the Beltway or the rest of the transportation progress going on in Northern Virginia.
The server knew the menu and specials and was able to advise about selections. The bread is excellent. Drinks were served quickly. Chopped salad was very tasty. The lamb chop special was done properly, juicy and had plenty of flavor. The veal seemed as if it had been prepared earlier and warmed. Dessert and coffee were quite good. The restaurant is expensive for the value.
Food was exceptional -- creative, beautiful and yummy. Acoustics at the restaurant don't lend to intimate conversation, but with people who can talk loud enough and hear well enough, the experience is excellent and the service was exactly right: we were never left wanting, but it was absolutely unobtrusive.
We visited Bazin's On Church after hearing wonderful reports from 2 different friends.
They were right. Outstanding food and terrific service. The cost of the meals aren't cheap though with most entrees over $25. There was an extensive wine list with most over $35/bottle
The table for 2 itself was very small and we were stuck between two very loud couples. Would have liked more space between the tables.
We were also near the Bar which got EXTREMELY noisy and we were happy to leave.
But the food was exceptional and we would go back.
I was very disappointed, as this restaurant had been highly recommended. The service
was poor. The waiter obviously didn't want to be there. When I asked that the popcorn!!
be left off my ceviche, he replied that it added texture. When it appeared it was topped
with popcorn, which I scraped off. My friend ordered salmon on salad. Salmon was good,
salad was chopped finely. The menu didn't mention this, and some people prefer a regular
salad, rather than chopped. The waiter kept walking by us and pointedly looking at his
watch. I won't go back.
This was our first trip to Bazin's and we couldn't have been more delighted with our decision. There were six of us and each appetizer, entree, and dessert were outstanding. With regard to service, our server was very attentive, but a little overbearing at times. We actually felt a bit rushed when our server asked about dessert the second our entrees were cleared, but he was courteous when we told him that we needed some time and would let him know when we were ready. In addition to the food, Bazin's had an excellent wine list, a good assortment of cocktails, and a nice group of American micro-brews. All-in-all, Bazin's was a great choice and we will surely return.
I took my mother there for dinner on Mother’s Day. We were 10min. late for our reservation, and the hostess immediately informed us that in the future we should kindly call if we run late, and that they were about to give our table away. When we entered the dining room, it was almost half empty, which made me wonder why our table in particular was almost given away...
The food wasn't fabulous, but just OK. My brother ordered a steak and asked for no blue cheese. It came out with blue cheese all over, which we told the waitress. His steak was taken back for about 3 min. and came back with the cheese clearly just scraped off because he could still taste the blue cheese on his meat.
We dined at Mother's Day Brunch. There were four of us, including my wife and parents. We were running late, in traffic, and we called ahead. The hostess was courteous and positive, indicating there was no problem and she'd save our table. When we arrived, we were seated immediately and our waiter greeted us right away. His service was spot on and his timing throughout the meal impeccable.
I had the herb-crusted flounder. My wife had the special Eggs Benedict on a filet Mignon. Dad had the veal Marsala and Mom had the flat iron steak. Everyone thought their meals were top notch.
Overall a fantastic way to spend Mothers Day afternoon. We've been before and have not been disappointed. Highly recommended.
I usually look forward to ding at the restaurant but this time I was actually disappointed in my meal. I ordered the Banana's Foster French Toast and it was more like fried bread. No flavor, very dense and very greasy. My 1 slice of bacon was also totally burnt and when I requested a replacement, that was not much better.
Not sure I would go back again.
The food from the dinner menu was excellent in terms of presentation, quality, and taste. Service was slow and unattentive. The restaurant was full and the noise level was uncomfortably high. This made conversation with my dining companions very difficult. We will not return on a Saturday night.
