New Year's Eve fixed price menu offerings diverse and delicious. Wait staff very attentive and accommodating. Dessert (Pavola) exceptional. Noise level uncomfortable for keeping conversations private.
The menu changes, but the food is always fantastic. Blows Clarity out of the water, we are still not sure why people think it is so great. Waiter was helpful, the bread wonderful as always. Will be there again soon!
Perfect in every way!
Oscar was a fabulous server - attentive and made sure things were prepared gluten free even when the original preparation was not!
Fernando’s old fashioned was tops!
Will always go back - for the food and the people!
Had a very upsetting experience on Christmas Eve at this former favorite restaurant. Made reservations on Nov. 6th (six weeks ahead). Two days before our dinner, we were informed that our reservation was moved "next door". We were NOT given a choice or options. The woman insisted that it was the same restaurant and same kitchen, just next door. Since we park in the handicapped parking in the back (mother is 93 yrs old and uses a walker), I asked how do we get to "next door" from this area. Was brusquely told to "just go in the door next to Bazin's back door". When we arrived, this back door area was filled with discarded boxes and what looked like trash. I asked the kitchen worker how we were supposed to walk through this and he said that we should enter Bazin's back door and go through to the front. We did and expected all tables to be filled. To our surprise, the place was completely empty with the exception of several staff standing around waiting for diners to arrive. I asked why we were moved, but no one could give me an answer. We had to walk from the back door out the front door, down the front sidewalk and enter Bazin's Next Door (three times as far for my mother to walk). We were seated in a cold, drafty area at table crammed next to a busy work area (felt like we had to keep our elbows in to keep them from getting bumped). I asked again why we were moved since the dining room was empty. Was told it was"easier and less confusing", but they would let mgmt know that we wished to talk to someone. A woman did venture over (I'm sure it was the same one who called) but avoided talking to us. When we left, we had to make the same trek back through two sets of doors (difficult with a walker) and walk the length of Bazin's to exit the back door to the handicapped parking. A host actually thought we came to dine and tried to escort us to an empty table! We would have been better off if our food was put in a paper bag and eaten at home. Will never return.
Food is consistently good. However, I question the value for money. Prices are getting high, particularly for drinks.
Our service was not good. It took a long time to order drinks and even longer to receive them. The server was unresponsive to the few simple requests we made. I didn’t think the food was as good as previous visits. It was just an average dinner experience.
Entrees were okay but not special. Pork three ways was over cooked and there was too much sauce. Apps were good. Enjoyed the crab spring roll. Service was average. Maybe it was a rookie Server and not the “first string” so I won’t knock the restaurant. (Example the Server had to go find a beer list for the 6 beers they sell and the person delivering he food had to ask who ordered what. A good server will note which person ordered which dish)
The waiter was excellent the the kitchen was very slow, took us about hour to get our orders and wasn’t hot
It has probably been two years since I last visited the restaurant and it was most disappointing.
Less than professional in the phone contact as well as the greet staff. Entrees served before appetizers were finished with a half hearted apology from the wait staff.
Food was just average...hardly what I remembered or expected.
I would want to see a very good review before returning.
Delicious meal (we loved the scallops!) as usual. Blue cheese scalloped potatoes were fantastic! Service was fabulous.
I have been going to Bazin's on Church for years and was excited to take my friend there for our Holiday celebration dinner. Unfortunately I was very disappointed this time. I don't know if the chef has changed or it was a bad night but the food was not very good and not what I've expected from Bazin's. We ordered crispy brussel sprouts with bacon and a balsamic dressing. They were everything but crispy :( and it tasted like the chef used soy sauce instead of balsamic vinegar.
I ordered mushroom crusted baked cod for my dinner and it was not mushroom crusted. I believe there were a few sauted mushrooms on top though. But the cod was so overcooked it was crunchy.
I was also very disappointed in the service. Our server was trying to rush us the entire meal and the restaurant was not full-by any means-nor were people waiting. He ignored us throughout the dinner and brought our check well before we were done.
Overall I'm incredibly disappointed in one of my favorite restaurants :(
Disappointing!! Have been to Bazin’s MANY times over the years and have always loved it...until this time!! Crab and corn chowder was all potato with VERY little crab or corn. It was not particularly warm. The gnocchi with bolognese had no flavor! The waiter was uncaring and distant. Won’t be back anytime soon!!
This restaurant never disappoints!!!! Been there countless times and always have a fab;ulous time and amazing meal......and Julie and Patrick are always so upbeat, friendly and welcoming.....love everything about this restaurant!!!!
They had a very delicate touch with the fish. The same can't be said for any of the breaded items - oysters, veal, etc. These were very thick and rather tasteless. They have done better.
Consistently good food and experience!
Excellent food and great customer service. Ambiance was perfect for thanksgiving
I have been to Bazins on Church a few times throughout the years. We went for the Thanksgiving Dinner just a couple of days ago with other family members - we were in agreement with the following:
1. The Thanksgiving menu that was posted on their website up through the morning of Thanksgiving was different than the menu presented to us at the table. This was not the end of the world, but it was a bit irritating - there were a couple of items on the online menu I wanted and was looking forward to that were not offered.
2. Everyone at the table wanted iced tea. The server said they were all out of tea! I have never been to a restaurant that did not have tea. When you are paying $42 a person I would hope they would have someone run out and get some tea bags!
3. The jumbo lump crab chowder served as part of the Thanksgiving dinner had no flavor and I could not find any crab. Just potatoes. The fall salad did not have blue cheese on it as it stated on the menu - not a lot of flavor there either.
4. Food took quite a while to get to us - we had to ask for bread and we were the only ones who did not have a water pitcher on our table.
1. Very nice ambiance
2. The turkey was really wonderful - very moist. The cranberry relish was perfect - could have had more green beans on the plate, but overall the turkey entree was very good.
3. The pumpkin cheesecake was absolutely incredible!!
4. We were seated very quickly.
5. My sister ordered the baked cod entree with the risotto and it was really good - I had a bite of it.
The buttermilk biscuit eggs benedict was awesome as was the shrimp and grits.
Small menu, but unique meal options and so very tasty. Absolutely loved the monkfish. Impressive wine list.
Quiet corner table by windows allowed for enjoyable dinner conversation. For size of restaurant and extremely busy/crowded evening, noise level was excellent. GOOD sound proofing tiles! Staff was attentive, but not overly so. Sea bass with maple/miso sauce was delicious. Duck was superb. Very good beer and wine selections. Parking lot under restaurant is a PLUS! Would definitely return!
Food was fine. Nothing exceptional. My husband finally had to ask at the front for the waiter to take our orders- after 25 minutes.
Beautiful menu highlighting seasonal variety. There were eight of us & we shared our delicious bites from beets & oysters to duck, monk fish & short ribs. The unique cocktails, tasty sides & surprising desserts made for a memorable meal.
Additionally, one would be hard pressed to find better service or a friendlier wait staff than Bazin’s!! Gabriela was OUTSTANDING!!
This is always one of our go-to restaurants. We live fairly close by so that makes it convenient, but why we really go is because of the food. There's always something new to try and it's always good. This time I had the veal and crispy fried eggplant. It was just wonderful. And I never missed their dessert. The problem is choosing which one. They have elevated the ice cream sundse to new levels and it's so hard for me to resist that.
The food was lovely and service attentive. Our group of 4 had the shrimp appetizer, eggroll appetizer and three different fish entrees: the salmon, monkfish, and branzino. The monkfish had a lovely lobster sauce on it, and was really fresh tasting, generous, and well prepared. We all loved the shrimp appetizer and someone said they thought it was the best shrimp he'd ever had! We were able to get our favorite wine, Pouilly-Fuisse, and it was great, too. It was the first time any of us had been there, and all really enjoyed it. It's not cheap, but we had a wonderful time and the food was really excellent, so we all enjoyed it.
Decor was wood and glass block, definitely not a chain. Service and food were very good with a fantastic wine list. Also there is adjacent parking. The only negative was the closeness of the seating.
My family and I have been dining at Bazin's since its opening. The food is outstanding and the service very good. I have noticed over the years that patrons are more casual in their attire- not a big deal but in the first years patrons were not formal but dressed in business casual. I'm sure the owners have little control but there were folks in t-shirts and jeans walking in for dinner. Most restaurants that I dine at have a dress code- not stuffy but would not let someone in an untuck shirt or tshirt in. It just brings it down a peg for me although the food is great and a favorite of mine.
One can always count on Bazin's for a good meal! Lunch is especially nice as it is easy to talk with friends.
We've been to Bazin's many times. This was a special event - a friend's birthday. Everything was grand. Excellent wine, fabulous entrees, and terrific dessert (which we shared). If you haven't been to Bazin's on Church you are missing a great dinner.
Eggs Benedict....eggs were dry..not runny as they should be. There was a group of high school jazz musicians there... nice but in a small space sitting near them my friends and I had to shout to be heard by each other. My one friend had finished her meal and even though I was still chewing, a server came by and took her plate, took the bread and butter without asking if we were done and picked up my plate… I had to stop him and tell him I wasn't finished… Made us feel really rushed .
Great local restaurant in Vienna...delicious food all the time....meat and fish selections for all..good desserts....if you can't hear well or don't like noise, go for lunch. One of our favorite places.
Overall, a good dining experience. Not all dishes were perfect. The Bazin’s Salad could use more dressing. The two batches of the same type of bread had a significantly different texture. The filet grill marks were so dark that it imparted a burned taste to the meat. However, the overall ambiance, service, dessert, and sea bass entree added up to a pleasant experience. We will be coming back.
Great lunch menu, service and ambience. I mistakenly left a business notebook behind after lunch. A hour later I returned to recover it and the staff greeted me at the entrance with it. Lovely people and a favorite place.
It had been some time since I last dined at Bazin's and had never been for lunch. Was not disappointed. Stayed away from the 3-course fixed-price menu and ordered ala carte. The lump crab meat and avocado salad was delicious. My companion had the lobster tacos and said they were excellent. Will be back for dinner!
This was my third visit and the food is consistently good. The crabmeat spring rolls were really good as was the Orchietta pasta.
Tables are too close together, you are on top of your neighbors and the waitstaff can’t even fit in between to deliver food. And the tables for two, although a beautiful barn wood, are too small to hold the dinner plates, bread and butter plates and the basket of bread. If they reconfigured it would be a much better atmosphere!
My family always enjoys our dining experience at Bazin's. We live in town and have been dining htere since it opened. The staff is wonderful, the food is superb, and we leave every time raving about how much we love it. They add so much to the culinary portfolio in Vienna!
Bazins has been my wife's and my go to place for years. It has consistently been a great evening out: good balance of price and excellent quality, choice and variety of menu. The last two visits (within 6 months) we've been disappointed. Seems "puny" but they swapped out the house Malbec from the Altos they used to serve. My wife's not a big drinker but that was a favorite. New Malbec didn't measure up. More disappointing is a slipping in the menu. Seems to us that variety and quality has dropped. We understand the need to stay fresh but seems that they are straying from some quality basics. Menu was ok but, heretofore, I hardly looked at the bill it was so enjoyable. Last time, braised spare ribs were nothing to write home about. Seafood selection was about the same. Best part about the apple cobbler was the ice cream. We're loyal customers and will no doubt go back and give them another chance but not in the near future. It's still good. But it's not great. Great service didn't make up for things. MBGA!
Our neighborhood ladies lunch group (4 of us) totally enjoyed our leisurely meal. We stayed quite a while after lunch, lingered over coffee, chatting away and did not feel rushed. I think we were one of the last tables to leave. Lots of tasty choices on the menu. The waiter kindly took our picture as well!
