Bazin's on Church Ratings and Reviews
Quiet corner table by windows allowed for enjoyable dinner conversation. For size of restaurant and extremely busy/crowded evening, noise level was excellent. GOOD sound proofing tiles! Staff was attentive, but not overly so. Sea bass with maple/miso sauce was delicious. Duck was superb. Very good beer and wine selections. Parking lot under restaurant is a PLUS! Would definitely return!
Beautiful menu highlighting seasonal variety. There were eight of us & we shared our delicious bites from beets & oysters to duck, monk fish & short ribs. The unique cocktails, tasty sides & surprising desserts made for a memorable meal.
Additionally, one would be hard pressed to find better service or a friendlier wait staff than Bazin’s!! Gabriela was OUTSTANDING!!
This is always one of our go-to restaurants. We live fairly close by so that makes it convenient, but why we really go is because of the food. There's always something new to try and it's always good. This time I had the veal and crispy fried eggplant. It was just wonderful. And I never missed their dessert. The problem is choosing which one. They have elevated the ice cream sundse to new levels and it's so hard for me to resist that.
The food was lovely and service attentive. Our group of 4 had the shrimp appetizer, eggroll appetizer and three different fish entrees: the salmon, monkfish, and branzino. The monkfish had a lovely lobster sauce on it, and was really fresh tasting, generous, and well prepared. We all loved the shrimp appetizer and someone said they thought it was the best shrimp he'd ever had! We were able to get our favorite wine, Pouilly-Fuisse, and it was great, too. It was the first time any of us had been there, and all really enjoyed it. It's not cheap, but we had a wonderful time and the food was really excellent, so we all enjoyed it.
My family and I have been dining at Bazin's since its opening. The food is outstanding and the service very good. I have noticed over the years that patrons are more casual in their attire- not a big deal but in the first years patrons were not formal but dressed in business casual. I'm sure the owners have little control but there were folks in t-shirts and jeans walking in for dinner. Most restaurants that I dine at have a dress code- not stuffy but would not let someone in an untuck shirt or tshirt in. It just brings it down a peg for me although the food is great and a favorite of mine.
Eggs Benedict....eggs were dry..not runny as they should be. There was a group of high school jazz musicians there... nice but in a small space sitting near them my friends and I had to shout to be heard by each other. My one friend had finished her meal and even though I was still chewing, a server came by and took her plate, took the bread and butter without asking if we were done and picked up my plate… I had to stop him and tell him I wasn't finished… Made us feel really rushed .
Overall, a good dining experience. Not all dishes were perfect. The Bazin’s Salad could use more dressing. The two batches of the same type of bread had a significantly different texture. The filet grill marks were so dark that it imparted a burned taste to the meat. However, the overall ambiance, service, dessert, and sea bass entree added up to a pleasant experience. We will be coming back.
It had been some time since I last dined at Bazin's and had never been for lunch. Was not disappointed. Stayed away from the 3-course fixed-price menu and ordered ala carte. The lump crab meat and avocado salad was delicious. My companion had the lobster tacos and said they were excellent. Will be back for dinner!
Tables are too close together, you are on top of your neighbors and the waitstaff can’t even fit in between to deliver food. And the tables for two, although a beautiful barn wood, are too small to hold the dinner plates, bread and butter plates and the basket of bread. If they reconfigured it would be a much better atmosphere!
My family always enjoys our dining experience at Bazin's. We live in town and have been dining htere since it opened. The staff is wonderful, the food is superb, and we leave every time raving about how much we love it. They add so much to the culinary portfolio in Vienna!
Bazins has been my wife's and my go to place for years. It has consistently been a great evening out: good balance of price and excellent quality, choice and variety of menu. The last two visits (within 6 months) we've been disappointed. Seems "puny" but they swapped out the house Malbec from the Altos they used to serve. My wife's not a big drinker but that was a favorite. New Malbec didn't measure up. More disappointing is a slipping in the menu. Seems to us that variety and quality has dropped. We understand the need to stay fresh but seems that they are straying from some quality basics. Menu was ok but, heretofore, I hardly looked at the bill it was so enjoyable. Last time, braised spare ribs were nothing to write home about. Seafood selection was about the same. Best part about the apple cobbler was the ice cream. We're loyal customers and will no doubt go back and give them another chance but not in the near future. It's still good. But it's not great. Great service didn't make up for things. MBGA!
Our neighborhood ladies lunch group (4 of us) totally enjoyed our leisurely meal. We stayed quite a while after lunch, lingered over coffee, chatting away and did not feel rushed. I think we were one of the last tables to leave. Lots of tasty choices on the menu. The waiter kindly took our picture as well!
Bazin's is truly extraordinary in every way. Great food, service, and amenities. The attention to detail that is put into the overall dining experience is without compare. Chef Patrick has perfected his menu, wine list, and every element of dining you would expect from a world class restaurant. Our service is always timely, professional, and polished. There is not a better wine list in Northern Virginia either and it is constantly updated. Great place every single time!!!
My wife, her daughter and I had Sunday dinner there. During the meal my wife, who suffers from RA, complained of a painful shoulder. But she wanted to stay and finish our meal. But the pain got too much for her, she got ill and unresponsive for a short time. The staff were very helpful, courteous and quick to respond to the situation. Our food was packed up, check readied and paid, and our server helped my wife out to our car.
This was absolutely not the fault of the food nor our drinks. All was excellent. Our doctor confirmed it was all a shoulder problem.
So, a hearty thank you to Bazin's and the staff for the great service and assistance in this situation.
I was looking forward to trying a new place in Vienna. Bazin's reviews looked good so I was optimistic. Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience. Three of us dined and 2 of the meals were extremely bland and mediocre at best. My pasta with chicken had almost no flavor and my friend's gnocchi was the same. Maybe it was a bad night, but I didn't feel the meal was worth the price I paid.
Bazin's has begun to hold a jazz brunch the first Sunday of each month. Because of this we purposely made a reservation and we were not disappointed! The jazz was wonderful and the meal was excellent. What was great, was the music was provided by a Northern Virginia Educational program for teens learning jazz!! The menu offered a number of appealing options and we have a difficult time selecting our entrees. I opted for the chicken and waffles, and it was excellent! The menu was reasonably priced. We plan on returning to Bazin's for Sunday Brunch in the future and hope not to miss the next Sunday jazz event. We will be telling friends as well!!
As a frequent diner would have expected a better table as the restaurant was half empty. Would like to see someone at the front that actually welcomes you. Looked to be someone in high school with little experience. All in all the food was up to Bazin standards and looking forward to more experienced staff.
We have been waiting to fine an opportunity to go here since it always looks packed! Very disappointed and this will be out last trip. Asked for a taste of wine. Server brought me a small pour and charged me for an entire glass. Appetizers were tasteless - got a salad and the crispy shrimp. Meal was the saving grace.
We had an excellent dinner at Bazin's last evening. We tried 4 appetizers: the signature crabmeat roll, roasted cauliflower, a salad, and chilled jumbo sriracha shrimp. All were superb; my favorites were the roasted cauliflower and crabmeat roll!
We had 4 main courses: Meat/Mixed grill, Branzino, Chilean Sea Bass, and veal milanese. Again, all were superb: however the Chilean Sea Bass and the Branzino were my favorites.
The service provided by Oscar was impeccable. We also tried two excellent wines: a White Burgundy/Macon Villages (Chardonnay grape), and Robert Mondavi Maestro Cabernet Sauvignon. We enjoyed pairing the wines with the respective appetizers and main courses!
For dessert we shared: Salted Caramel Tart, and Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding. My favorite was the Salted Caramel Tart!
Overall, it was a spectacular evening, good family, good food, good wine, and good service. We look forward to our next meal at Bazin's!
