Bazille - Nordstrom Valley Fair Ratings and Reviews
I eat here frequently, but this time I had a funny situation. I ordered a cocktail that had cucumber in it. It was pretty good so I ordered a second one. It didn't have any cucumber in it. When I asked the waitress why she said they only put it in the first one. I kind of laughed and told her that I paid the same for both drinks so they should be the same. I don't think she knew what to do.
I recently introduced friends to Bazille, which is one of my favorite places to dine. The food is great, as is the service. You can converse comfortably in an attractive setting. The menu offers a lovely array of dishes--something for everyone! The salads are the best I have ever eaten. The cocktails and desserts are remarkable. And the prices are quite reasonable, considering the quality ingredients.
The Fig and Berry salad are always very good! This time we tried the chicken and pasta and we will not order it again. The mushrooms tasted stale, the chicken was dry and the pasta was just ok. The French dip sandwich is also always a good choice but can be a bit salty.
I have dined here with my husband a few times and thought the food and service was excellent in prior experience. However, last night a few things were very off-putting and thought I would share: poor service and long wait for cocktails/soup/entree. It was a Tuesday evening and not too busy. Server dropped off cocktails and came back to take our order - rarely saw her and forgot about our soup. She checked in with us approx 25 minutes after we ordered to tell me that my entree (short rib that was listed on the "specials" for the evening) was "still frozen" so it was taking a while to come to the table. She says that they were very busy during lunch so they froze the extra and are reheating it for dinner. While my frozen dinner was being de-thawed, we complimented the bread and the server said "Oh - its just from Sysco" (institutional restaurant supplier). For the price point ($18+ for entree/$14+ for cocktails) - I was taken aback. And so how was the short rib? Not great - not horrible. It was a little dry as you would expect from reheating it - but the server never asked how it was. In all fairness I want to write that Bazille has been EXCELLENT in the past and my husband's dinner appeared fresh and was very good. Hopefully this is not the "new normal" and I just had a poor experience.
Came here with some girlfriends for lunch. I've been coming to this restaurant for years, even before it was Bazille, so I'm glad they kept the menu for the most part. We'd ordered the Caesar Salad w/ Shrimp, Warm Asian Glazed Chicken Salad, Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad, and the Bistro Club w/ fries... of course, we all got a cup of the Crab Bisque each- that's a must! Overall, the restaurant is casual and a great place to grab a meal whether business or pleasure.
This day the food was better and ok. The day after Christmas when I went with my kids and husband, also, was awful. I eat here often and I know Nordstrom fairly well. The server started off ok and then it went downhill when he messed up a couple items and seemed to be unfriendly towards us. We didn't even complain or be upset but he still was like that, it was uncomfortable in the end. The food was old and refired, which I find to be abominable. I even got the donuts to go, had no warning there was ice cream to take and the donuts were burned when I was able to get to the them to eat! The fries were over cooked like they were from the day before and re-fried. The salmon was over cooked and dry and the dressing not all over the salad greens. My son was ill during this lunch so I was distracted. But we were a larger ticket so why be grumpy with us when we are paying a good amount, and with alcoholic drinks included??!? I've never had it that badly there, though lately the food is older and not as well made.
A friend of mine came here for the first time. They have a simple menu but very good choices. I thought the food was tasty and priced really well for the amount of food they give you. Their poke with fried wontons was delish. I will definitely come back with my family.
If you're at Valley Fair mall this is the only good restaurant to dine at. The menu is varied, the service is good and they have a full bar and nice selection of wines and beers. It's a perfect place either before you start "mall madness" shopping or after to have a cocktail and a nice meal.
I'll give them a break because, by observation, I could see they were short-staffed. The service was slower than we have had here before, and the food (usually excellent) fell just a bit short this night. We do like Bazille and this little slip will not keep us from coming back.
Be sure to try the blistered green beans and the Brussels sprouts. Both are served as veggie side dishes. Savory preparations for both, and they were delicious! The chicken caesar salad was fresh and tasty. Good value for the money overall, and a decent set of choices on the menu. I was disappointed to learn that they don't serve any specialty coffees...no cappuccino, no espresso...really? I would recommend that they get a setup asap...I'm sure that coffee drinks bring more people into the restaurant. Good service overall.
We use to go to the Nordstrom Cafe many times before under the old name. For some reason we stopped going decided to go again on Mother's Day.
After our most recent dining experience, we realized why we stopped going. First of all, the service was incredibly slow. Secondly, the portions were small. We left still feeling hungry. And lastly, the prices are way too high for what you get. I ordered an appetizer and a cup of soup. We ordered a kids meal, a cheese pizza, and a salad. The total came out to over $60!
