Bazille – Nordstrom Rideau Centre Ratings and Reviews
Pleasant, young, modern, and excellent, creative food. But a little too noisy. Very difficult to maintain a conversation, unless one is given a table for 2 against the wall. One of us is 70 and I am 81, so it helped. Will go back! I gave 5 stars for the service because each we dealt with was very nice and friendly, yet professional - when they managed to come to our table as they are quite busy. I gave 4 stars for Value as it is not exactly cheap...
It was a birthday dinner out, and I had high expectations. I ordered the salmon entree, and the salmon came out smelling very fishy (which I think means it may have been bad?). I only tried a couple of bites, but it was also extremely dry. The service was also very slow even though the restaurant was almost empty.
I always enjoy coming to Bazille. A little surprised that the Chicken Caesar salad was removed from the menu but was total still available to order. The server said that while I could still order it that it was no longer offered at the inexpensive rate that it once was and therefore removed from the menu and that Bazille no longer wanted it on the menu because of that rate and would just be adding a couple of dollars to it. I do enjoy that salad....not because I am looking to pay an inexpensive price for a meal but because at 650 calories it is lower than a lot of the other entrees available and that is why I enjoy ordering it. I also don't feel that a $17.50 salad should be now removed from a menu as if it is a cheap price salad. It is an enjoyable salad - don't understand the pretense?
There are a few other menus not listed on line so there are expanded seasonal choices . I had a special lamb shank / cous cous that was delish . Friendly waiter also brought bread & olives to the table. Salmon on salad nicoise was overcooked even though we requested to be cook lightly. Only other negative was the high priced desserts.
The settings is gorgeous and serene, lovely roof top, great landscaping, quiet, excellent service and food. There is a 6pm menu which is made of small plates, great for a quick drop in. Meals are very good, service friendly, professional and knowledgable. A peaceful oasis in the middle of downtown Ottawa.
We had lunch before starting our Sunday afternoon of clothes shopping and chose Bazille because it was so convenient. I made a reservation just in case it was busy but it was not overly crowded. Nevertheless, they saved us one of the best seats in the house. My elderly mother, my young niece and I had a hard time choosing from the menu because everything looked delicious. In the end, all 3 of us chose the club sandwich and it was delicious! All of the servers were very friendly and our waitress was very attentive and kind. We would definitely eat at Bazille again.
A pleasant spot for lunch, particularly on the terrace. Overpriced considering this is cafeteria style (no tablecloths, cutlery wrapped in the napkin, etc.). Very loud. Wine is exorbitantly priced, more expensive by the glass than in Signatures at le Cordon Bleu. We boycotted it. Ridiculous that one has to go downstairs to get an espresso or cappuccino. Good staff.
