Baywood was our "go to" when we wanted a great meal. I'm not sure what has changed but hasn't been for the better. The last time we were there the service was substandard and the food was no where near as good as it was in the past. Very disappointed and now we have to find a new place to love.
Fodd was great ..
Very busy ( New Year's Eve)
Over all very good
Having been dining at this restaurant for years... and have seen many changes. One thing for sure the menu has always been creative and new with well-prepared and tasty offerings. The biggest change in recent years is the attention to detail by service staff; this appears to have become more casual and relaxed - sometimes server is not always available.
We went with friends on Sunday, Dec. 18, and had a wonderful dinner. The dinner side of the restaurant was closed so we were seated in the bar side which was pretty empty but the staff was upbeat and a lot of fun. Had the smaller appetite 6 oz steak and frits (substituted cauliflower mash) and it was outstanding. My friend who is allergic to onions and garlic had hers prepared to order and loved it. The guys had hamburgers done just the way they like them. All in all is was a terrific evening and the cook that evening was excellent. From start to finish we felt the staff were in a holiday mood and they gave us a thoroughly enjoyable evening that we hope to enjoy again soon.
Very nice time. The brunch food was average but atmosphere was festive and service was very good! A nice place to go with family over the holidays and not too busy and crowded!
The restaurant was fairly empty which made it quiet. The fodd was not as good as we've come to expect from Baywood. It may have been an off night.
Our waiter from wonderful - Jonathan. He was attentive to us without being intrusive. We all enjoyed our food and one person at our table ordered the seafood special and I think the three of us who ordered other items were pleased with our orders but might have been a bit sorry they had ordered the seafood special.
Three friends and I had a wonderful dinner and evening dining at Baywood. The music of saxophonist Everett was amazing and we had great service from our waiter Dave. Couldn't have been a more lovely evening. And as always, the fall decorations were incredible.
This restaurant was a nice surprise for us. The staff are all extremely friendly and the service is excellent. We were kept waiting a few times for first courses and then for entrees but the server always checked back, apologized for the delay and explained the wait (took longer to cook the thick cut filet). The food was very good from an heirloom beet salad to cream of crab soup to a (perfectly cooked) filet and an exceptional quail special. Great wine list and great desserts.
I went with my wife for my birthday and I had the salmon which was tasty and cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed her meal too. Our waiter was very nice and informative. We had the whole dining room to ourselves.
Had dinner at the Baywood Clubhouse Restaurant f or a birthday dinner for two. We chose to sit in the Lounge for the live entertainment that evening. since it was 'Off-Season' seating was not an issue, though reservations were made in advance. We had ordered 2 appetizers , dinner and ordered a bottle of wine. the appetizers were very good (crab dip was especially good) and dinner( lamb and steak) was very good as well. the ambiance was nice in the lounge area and even with the live entertainment the noise level didn't prevent us from having a conversation. The restaurant at the Baywood Clubhouse is worth a try.
The most delicious rack of lamb we gave ever eaten. Please put it on the menu all the time!
Lobster special was great and Sandy (aka Barbara) was a wonderful server who didn't rush us, even though we were her last table. We'll be back!
We enjoyed Sunday brunch. Everyone's meal was very good and reasonably priced. My 'steak and eggs' was outstanding.
The waiter provided Great service, we were given a perfect table & atmosphere and the delicious food was just impeccable.
We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. My wife onion soup is to die as they soak the onions in Guinness. They have great specials for your special days. It has a great view of the golf course.
incredible views/gardens and landscaping, great outdoor dining but very smart inside as well.
I enjoyed our dinner so much and so did my guest. Dave our waiter was wonderful. Nice personalitie and made us feel at home. He suggested a wonderful wine with my dinner since the white zinfandel wasn't available. Prices were amazing. We had the special lobster and steak. I will always bring my guest here each time they visit. Was here a few months ago and also enjoyed it with my sister and father. Thank you for everything. P.S. The hostess and I talked like we knew each other for years and also the couple out front with the valet parking. So we enjoyed your restaurant right from the start of the evening at the entrance 😊. I'm new to Sussex County, from NY. Bay wood came highly recommended by many, including one of my guests that evening, who dines there often. The crab soup was barely room temperature, actually cold in spots. the scallops were well prepared but placed on a barely noticeable bed of mashed cauliflower...as though the kitchen ran out. My guest's whole lobster was good, BUT she was never offered a dish for the shells, was never offered a fingertip towel, and NO ONE ever came over to see if we needed anything or if we were satisfied...all of which one expects even in the local diner, and certainly at a 5 star restaurant. When we arrived, we asked if we could have 2 bills. Our server said that was not a problem. When we received ONE bill and then asked that it be split. A young lady, inappropriately dressed, (far too causal for the status of the restaurant), approached the table with a very loud and snippy voice, stating that the restaurant policy was not to split bills. We were a table of retired professional women: a high level government executive, an attorney, and a medical professional. We could do the math. The fact of not splitting the bill wasn't an issue. It was the demeaning and snippy tone of this young lady, who we later learned was a manager. We could only presume she must be a relative, as it is difficult to believe a restaurant of your caliber would hire someone to deal with customers who had such a screeching voice, such a demeaning tone, and who dressed so inappropriately. Yes, she is young, but she needs a great deal of training before she should be allowed to deal with the public. It was my first dining experience at Baywood. But, probably my last. I entertain many people as a retired attorney, still rainmaking. I will not risk embarrassing myself or my guests with such an experience. Baywood received this critique but, I suspect the person who responded to my critique was, in fact, the young lady who was most offensive.
Our server, Cindy, was very engaging. She represented the menu choices very well. Entrees were well presented and all enjoyed. 1/2 price wine Friday was awesome! Our party of five will return!!
I made a reservation for 5 people at 6:45 pm. It was getting cool and breezy. Upon arrival the hostess asked us to wait a minute ,she would be with us soon. I heard her speak to another woman mentioning a party of 18. A few minutes later they told our group of five women that they were seating is outside on the porch. We were hesitant but followed our hostess. No table was ready and then 18 golfers were being set up at two tables right next to us. This seems a poor way of arranging parties. It became more breezy so we asked our server if we could move around the corner to an area blocked from the wind. Our server Jonathan was great but the noise from the golfers near us made conversation challenging. Think more thought should have been done when placing different groups.
We had a wonderful dinner at baywood. The service was excellent. The food was delicious!!!! Definitely hoping to get back there soon!!
It is everything anyone could want and more for dining experience. Will make it a must at least once a month. Our server courteous, knowledgeable and attentive. The live music was extraordinary.
We had wonderful day playng golf then staying after for dinner. Sunday night offered a prix fix menu for $25 which included appetizer, main and dessert. A ceasar salad, salmon and apple crisp did the trick. Lovely atmosphere on the porch with beautiful plants and flowers. Dave really took care of us.
Had an awesome experience. Great food, beautiful view and the service was amazing.
WE will be back.
Only challenge was that I have Celiac Disease, so I can not eat anything with gluten in it.
No notes of what was gluten or what was gluten free, so my options were limited.
Salad..... was the choice. SAD, most places now note what is gluten free. Which really surprised me that Baywood did not note. Considering how many events are held there and how many people eat there. I had also noted on my reservation about being gluten free...only phone call I received was concerning my table. Not my eating challenge.
We have been to Baywood many times and always had a great experience. This last dining experience was very disappointing. The server was inattentive, the meals were overdone or underdone and the quality was not there. Additionally, we were always able to get separate checks and now that policy has changed which makes it very inconvenient.
Baywood is a beautiful setting but I'm not sure we will be going back there after this last experience. The new restaurant management needs to reevaluate what they are doing in all areas of service and food preparation. Perhaps one thing they could do is bring back some of the previous wait staff who knew what they were doing.
Food was yummy and service was great! If the weather is nice the outdoor seating offers a great view of the golf course.
Have been here a number of times and never disappointed. Nice views and attentive staff. New lighter menu choices add to the selection of meal options.
Food is usually always good but this is the second time there that I asked for a well done steak and it came out pink my wife's was bloody still and she asked for well done also very disapointed we were celebrating our 1 year anniversary
Great meal and beautiful evening on the porch. Never a disappointing dining experience.
Ambience, both inside and out, is second to none in this area. Food is delicious, servers very friendly and accommodating. I go there often, and recommend it whenever I have a chance.
Excellent food, a little loud, but that's because we sat on the "lounge" side on a busy Saturday night! Enjoyed celebrating our 5 year anniversary at the same place we were married :)
Great food, good service
Do NOT, do NOT, make arrangements to eat at Baywood particularly when they are hosting an event! We waited over one and a half hours for our food. We had been seated at the center section of the verandah where there were no fans. The fans are excellent for blowing away insects and seating at the other verandah areas is fine. I had asked the server if management could provide a fan for this purpose and she said there were no outlets at this area. I said, "extension cord?" Last year they placed tiki torches at this area to make it bug free. None provided this year. I had to ask for a clean wine glass as the one I was given had lipsitck marks on it. Gross! If I wasn't with 7 more people, I would have left at this point. We waited and waited and waited for our food all the while being eaten up by the mosquitos and gnats, etc. I went inside to find someone to move us indoors. They did so and we still had to wait for our food and were discussing leaving. Management stated that our food was on its way out. When they arrived my crab cakes were burned on the bottom, other diners had cold brussels sprouts, and more burned crab cakes. The diner who ordered scallops had to wait for his meal after we all had been served. On that note, $30 for 4 scallops! Another group of diners, also waiting an hour and a half left the restaurant, showing disgust. Some charges were deducted; however, we will not return.
One of our favorite places. Even better now that Chester from the Starboard days is there!
It was lobster night but the lobster was soft ( maybe old) but not appealing. Two had the lobster and were very dissatisfied. One had the crab cakes which were mostly filler and not tasty. Another had the Angus burger but it was just satisfactory. The manager offered two complimentary desserts . The Cheesecake was the best part of the meal but the second dessert was a bread pudding but we sent it back because it was hard and tasteles for another cheesecake. The only bright spot was our waiter who was excellent.
I have eaten there many times in
the past and loved the food and setting. Don't know what happened?
Not sure we will go back.
I had a great meal for my 64th birthday. The duck was delicious and my husband's Prime Rib was cooked perfectly.
Everything was wonderful. Friends were visiting from Pittsburgh, PA and we wanted them to have a great dinner, wonderful ambiance and be able to talk quietly and have fun.
Beef in sandwich was like old lunch meat....I do not believe it was actual prime rib. Music was too loud and was soul R and B....Beef? even smelled old....I should have sent it back, but did not want to make a scene.....do not think I would go back.....stair railing wobbly..dangerous ....shoddy repairs had been done on bricks and railings
