Bayside Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We got off to a bad start because we were seated at a table and then we sat and watched other people being seated and served drinks before anyone even approached our table. I finally had to catch the attention of the other waiter.
The food was good and we enjoyed the live music.
Very dissapointed in the care and consent for the fact of having timed reservations wih bayside and as well with this opentable site. After verifying my confirmation for reservation and calling bayside a day prior to the 14th of February, we were denied access to the restaurant. So as u can imagine after driving 30-45 minutes to the establishment with set reservations confirmed here and with verbal confirmation with bayside the day prior, being denied access completely ruined me and my significant others Valentine’s Day. It is completely unprofessional, shows the integrity of said restaurant and this reservation software, and is jus out right rude. Yes I can understand it’s a very busy day being Valentine’s Day. Be that being said why would u take a reservation and then not honor it and ruin somones night. Makes no sense to why somone would even call in and confirm thier reservation to reassure thier special night will go as planned. Totally let me down.
We got to the restaurant 15 minutes before our reservation time and there was a long line. It was impossible to check in with the hostess and then the people on line told us they all had reservations and the 6 o'clock guests were just seated and most of the people on line were 7, 7:30 and so on. We had an 8 o'clock reservation and when we saw about 40 people on line we left. Did not get any response from the restaurant or you until 4 days later, very upset, and disappointed with the whole scenario. Why send me numerous reminders and get 2 phone calls to confirm from the restaurant which we did, what did it get us, AGGRAVATION and a wasted 40 minute drive through traffic.
We made a reservation on Open Table for Valentine's Day and showed up 30 minutes before our time thinking we would check-in and get a drink. Well...it took an hour just to check-in for our reservation!!! Horrible experience and even worse planning by the restaurant staff. Will not go back.
Ooooh, where do I start? Waited 60 minutes outside of the restaurant in a long line for our 8pm reservation. Line was about 80 people strong. Sat down at 8:45pm, at a tiny table in a corridor between other tables. Ordered a seafood appetizer in addition to our $75/person set menu. Restaurant forgot the seafood order. Their advertised prix fix menu had items like Foie Gras and other fancy items but was deleted and not on the menu when we arrived at the restaurant. Appetizer came out at 9:30pm. Entree came out at 10:15pm. People that sat down after us got their food first some how (both tables ordered steak and rack of lamb). Asked for dessert to-go and for the check along with the entree. Worse meal ever.
Went for Valentine’s dinner. We had a 7:30 reservation and waited in line just to get to the hostess desk for 50 minutes. The least organized group of staff I have seen. No apologies for the wait. After checking in, we had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes. We’re finally seated at just before 9:00pm.
I showed up for a 7:30 reservation at 7:00 for Valentine’s Day and there was a line snaked around the corner. By 7:40 we still weren’t even at the front of the line to check in with the hostess and people with 7:00 reservations were still being told it would be a significant wait until they were seated. The restaurant had clearly overbooked but we’re doing absolutely nothing to combat the situation. This would have been bad on any night but absolutely ruined Valentine’s Day. I ultimately forfeited my reservation due to a lack of tables.
What a disappointment! We had reservations for two at 7:00 PM, it was a Valentine’s Date Night. When we arrived upset guests we’re getting their vehicles. Valets were telling guests arriving that the restaurant had over booked. Their was a line and as I was waiting to check in I saw many people with reservations walking out angry. While I was in line an employee of the restaurant took a party of 4 waiting behind me to a table, they had not even checked in. Seemed you had to know someone to get seated on time. I pointed this out to a manager, no apology, he just stated that everyone was waiting. I was told I would get a text in 20 minuets when my table was available, 40 minuets later no text and I left with a unhappy wife, her night was ruined!
We selected Bayside since I proposed to my wife at Bayside ten years ago on Valentine Day. We arrived prior to our reservation time of 7:00 PM. There was a huge line made up of people who had their reservation prior to our's and claimed they had been waiting in line for over 30 minutes. I am unable to stand for more than five minutes. There was no place to sit except out doors in the cold. I couldn't get anywhere near the check-in desk, so went outside and phoned them. Told them my problem and they didn't seem to care. I told them to cancel the reservation. We went elsewhere. It was very disappointing as Bayside has always been one of our favorites. I doubt very much that we will go back anytime soon.
HORRIBLE! We went for Valentine’s Day and made reservations almost three weeks in advance for 7:00pm. We were so excited to be able to enjoy a great meal at a reasonable time on a work night! That was a pipe dream because when we arrived at about 6:50 we noticed that the parking lot was completely packed and double parked. We were greeted by the valet who told us that the restaurant overbooked and get ready for a long wait. Then we saw the line went out the front door and into the parking lot! We thought there might be a lot of walk ins, but as it turned out everyone in line had a reservation. How does an established restaurant allow something like this to happen? So... we waited in line for 45 minutes (where else would we be able to go at the last minute on Valentine’s Day?) just to check in and have them text us when our table was ready... that took another 20-25 minutes... once we were seated it took another hour before we received our first course of a prix fixe meal. We saw so many sad faced couples who had their Valentines date ruined. Many of them just left the line in disgust. Some of them left after they were seated for over an hour with just water and a dinner roll.
The food was great once it was served, but the whole idea of a special night isn’t so much about the taste of the food as it is about the experience itself. This has turned off hundreds of people from this establishment. What really makes matters worse is that after complaining to the manager in person he didn’t even offer an explanation nor even make an attempt to ease our pain. They could have given us a comped future dinner or even an appetizer as a gesture of good faith, but we got the feeling that the management only cared about the thousands of dollars they made that night... too bad they are so narrow-sighted hat they don’t realized the millions of future revenue that they lost.
We had a reservation for Valentine’s Day but couldn’t even get through the doors ... impossible to even make it to the back of the check-in line; just swarms of angry people everywhere. They obviously overbooked and had NO way of managing the overflow.
Extremely disappointed, as Bayside is normally one of my favorite places to eat. We gave up and went to the pizzeria next door ... not exactly the romantic valentines dinner I had in mind, but WAY better than this mess.
The hostess Susan put down rose petals for my wife’s birthday. The staff were impeccable and the cuisine was all spot on. It was the conclusion of restaurant week which meant the team should have been exhausted. They probably were but as far as we knew it was night one of their week. That being said, I would highly recommend Bayside. Cheers
We were 2 couples who dined on a Saturday night during NB restaurant week. We had a 6:30 reservation & theater tickets near by at 9:00. No problem, right? Wrong!!! The service was abominable. Our waitress, Julia, greeted us nicely and introduced Russ, whom she was training. They took our drink order & then almost immediately after delivering the drinks & determining that we were not going to have appetizers, Julia reappeared & just hovered around the table. We asked for a few more minutes, which she grudgingly said was ok. Then, it was forever before she returned. She finally took our order & the salads arrived very promptly. Then, we sat & sat & sat. Julia hardly ever came by to ask how things were going, nor did Russ. The busboy was the most attentive of the wait staff. Finally, we flagged Julia down & by now it was 7:45 & we did not yet have our entrees. We told her we needed to leave the restaurant at 8:30, so could she please see about our meals. She said she would but it was still another 10 minutes before our meals arrived. When the food arrived, I commented that we were ok now that we had our food at 7:55, but we still needed to be through by 8:30 & she assured us that she would see to it. Then she disappeared & we didn't see her again until 8:20!!! We begged her to just give us our check so we could leave & we'd take our desserts to go. She said ok but then didn't bring the check until 8:30 & no dessert in sight. We had seen her waiting on other tables & Russ was with her but when we would motion to her, she just turned away. When she brought the check, she said Russ was getting our desserts but we saw him waiting on other tables. She just didn't care! Finally, at 8:35 we got up and were ready to leave when the busboy saw our dilemma and rushed to get our desserts to go. He did this in less than 2 minutes - but Julia couldn't do it in 15!!! Her service completely spoiled the evening but the food was fabulous. We would return but with hesitation.
What a wonderful evening!! I’ve eaten lunch here a couple times and always been impressed but dinner was exceptional! The food was scrumptious and generous servings. I had the Scottish salmon with lemon risotto-divine!! And the service was warm, fun, professional!! A truly memorable evening!
We went during NP restaurant week. made our reservation and mentioned specifically there are 8 ppl + baby stroller. When we got there, the table reserved for us was more like for 6 people group. they got these wide chairs that take up 1.5 the reg space needed. there's no room for the baby and the stroller. Interesting the manager suggested he would remove the small table on the other side and we park the baby & stroller there. I don't know if he ever thought about it before suggesting - we the adults suppose to sit on one side and leave the baby and the stroller on the other side? non-sense. at the end we have to squeeze all the chairs even closer and park the stroller at an corner. by then the manager was long gone. I was told it was their largest table. even that was the case, they should've put together the rectangular tables together to seat us, 8 ppl. So besides the service, the food was excellent.
