Another great meal and experience. The importance of fresh hot food with excellent service is important and was delivered
Food was delicious and cocktails were inventive and tasty. However, we arrived on time for our 5:30 reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. We came when the restaurant opened, so this was a little confusing. Service continued to decline throughout the night as courses came increasingly late. I eventually had to flag down several waiters to get our check as we would have been late for our theater visit otherwise. I get New Orleans has a slower pace in fine dining restaurants, but this was just poor management all around. Overall, the food was good but I don’t think I will return.
Wasn't a crowded lunch. Aps, entrees, martini, dessert, and service all wonderful
We were looking forward to this night out, and Bayona did not disappoint! Service was impeccable—friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. Food was sublime, every course was wonderful. We really felt like it exceeded our expectations.
We ate here on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed! Excellent food, service, and ambience
A great find in New Orleans' French Quarter. Smallish menu from Susan Spicer; everything we tasted was delicious, perfectly prepared and nicely presented. Tables are well-spaced for quiet conversation, and the room is elegant without being stuffy. Service was polished and friendly. Extensive wine list and helpful sommelier. A lovely evening. We ate inside during March, but it looks like they have a lovely courtyard for outside dining.
Felt reserving with Open Table does not get the best seating location. Have been before with direct reservation with restaurant and had a much better table location on main floor.
We came for our 15th Aniversary to New Orleans and ate at Bayona. The main courses were delicious (Lamb and Steak). We both had delicious desserts (Choc. Tart and Ice Cream). Additionally watching all the people was just as much fun.
Bayona has been in business over 30 years. Susan Spicer continues her creation. We have moved away from New Orleans but returned to Bayona on this visit. Excellent New Orleans cuisine. This is fine dining at its best. Quiet NO ambiance good for business meetings or that special date night.
Overall the food was great and the crispy quail salad was all that had been described. The sweet breads were also off the hook. Unfortunately we had to wait on Service for almost every step of the meal. And when the server did show up she was pressured and was flopping between tables. I am not sure if this is a factor of management and understaffing or laissez-faire.
Bayona was spectacular! We went to have the duck sandwich but it is not available on Saturday, however they have a duck in puff pastry. It was excellent. It was truly a memorable meal and a delightful experience. I can't wait to go back.
Excellent food and excellent service by our waiter, Sean, But our experience was compromised by one particular table of very rowdy and loud patrons who should’ve been counseled by staff to be more quiet
We had a lovely table indoors but the ones outside looked chilly at night without warmers. Good food, great service and great ambiance.
I just love the place absolutely amazing
The food was amazing! My party had the rabbit and Italian sausage roulade, the veal sweetbreads, a lamb dish, the duck breast, and the fish special. They were all SUPERB! The wine (Adelshein), a red Pinot noir, was excellent. The service was also spectacular. I loved the ambience in the outdoor patio where we were seated and the quality of service. This was my first time in NOLA and I can honestly say this restaurant made my first visit to this city very enjoyable and memorable :)
I like Bayona when it is a bit slower. Food presentation is more spectacular and there is less hustle and bustle in their small dining room. Menu is delicious, creative and attractively prepared. Although, I didn't see much menu variation from the time I was there two years ago. Still, the best Sweetbreads I've ever tasted. Go when there isn't a large convention in town. It will be more enjoyable.
This was the best restaurant I've been in a while. The service was great, but not overbearing like how I felt at Commander's Palace. The food was great, down to the small details. Everything was perfectly cooked. I was pleased with literally everything I had.
Wonderful restaurant. Attentive staff. Delicious meal. Veal sweetbreads are to die for; our group of 3 shared the appetizer version. The lamb, salmon, and pork entrees were delicious. The baklava cheesecake is AMAZING. easily my best dinner of the week while in NOLA. I will dine here again when I am back and will recommend to others.
We’ve been fans of Bayona for many years and where a bit distressed the quality seemed to slip a bit. Food was just okay, slightly overdone sweetbreads and indifferent service although professional it was a bit detached at best. Unusual for this place. Not off the list, but a step towards it.
Bayona may need a refresh on server training for upscale dining. I don't blame the servers but they simply lack the training and knowledge of the menu/food.
As to the food, the appetizer was wonderful. A goat cheese bread that was prepared perfectly. We were also told we needed to order everything at once (appetizer and entree) which is unusual. Entrees were uneven. Greens overcooked and overly salted w seabass. Lamb loin cooked perfectly but tasted bland.
Filet was cooked perfectly and had food flavor.
Great wine list- it's expensive but it's to be expected. I will say you can order many of same bottles at August for 15-20% cheaper.
Regretfully, I cannot recommend .
The best meal we had in NOLA , with impeccable service. Can’t wait to go back next time we are in town.
Four diners and every course was delicious for all four. I do like to have more attention to my wine glass not being empty and I definitely want my coffee refilled during dessert. Since three of group are older we don’t really expect to hear well so noise doesn’t bother me.
Truly awful service...shame because food was very good
Excellent and authentic New Orleans restaurant in a quiet part of the quarter. Great value on the Saturday lunch. Small plates give one a great sampling of local fresh ingredients!
Outstanding food with good service. Lovely ambiance. Wonderful night out.
It is always a treat to go to Bayona's. My only minus this time was the banana tres leches dessert which was much too dense and really did not match the delicious appetizer and main meals high bar. Our waiter was , I think, training. I am used to impeccable service and this was a little off from the high professionalism shown by the other servers in the room. We served our own wine. I have never had to do this at an upscale restaurant. It is still my go to restaurant in New Orleans and was a wonderful experience.
Beautiful courtyard in the heart of the French Quarter will outstanding food. The three course Saturday lunch is perfect
This was the second time I have eaten at Bayona and it was as great as it was two years ago. Great food, great atmosphere and great service!
We had a wonderful 10th anniversary dinner there. The only thing that could out do their food is their service. Absolutely outstanding!!
We recently had lunch at Bayona and it was exceptional. I can't wait to come back for dinner. Such a beautiful place with creative food. My salad and sweetbreads were fantastic, and my wife's garlic soup and shrimp with pimento cheese grits were so good. (Yes, I did steal a few bites from her plate!) We went to 5 of the top New Orleans restaurants and this one was at the very top.
We have been to this restaurant before and enjoyed everything about it. However this time it was quite unpleasant. Our waitress Sara was rather full of herself and grandiose in her manner and speech. I ordered a bottle of sparkling water and white wine with dinner. The ice bucket was placed several feet away and she never came around to pour. I asked that the bucket be moved close to me so I could pour my own. With dramatic flair she slammed the bucket next to me, made a sarcastic comment about the bottles now being accessible and walked away. Never saw her again until I paid the bill. If it wasn’t for her assistant, Justin who did a nice job, the evening would have been a total fiasco.
Our experience was absolutely fantastic. The food was beyond delicious. The atmosphere was elegant, yet comfortable. The food was paired perfectly with drinks and the servers were quite knowledgeable about available options. It was the highlight of our vacation!
We celebrated our Anniversary at Bayona. We have been there several times as we live in the French Quarter.
The hostess made us feel right at home. The service was flawless and the food was delicious.
I loved the paper covering the table cloth. It had a printed border on both sides and being an artist I asked for crayons.
The hostess appeared with a bucket of crayons. I had fun. Upon leaving the hostess asked me to wait one second. She presented me with my own table covering to color at home. We Love Bayona
Garlic soup was okay. Nothing to write home about. Dessert was disappointing and had to be sent back. The creme brûlée was watery and never set. Whole batch was bad. Had to settle for another and one would have thought they would have offered a complimentary for the disappointing first order. It would have been nice even though money wasn’t the issue. Just nice to do. Overall it’s nice. Not among the top experiences but slightly above average as far as food goes and know because my partner was a chef and food preparation far superior. Shank was good don’t get me wrong and competitive but certainly not in top 3.
Lovely place, excellent servers and service
Food was very good.
We were dining with a 16 month old and the staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating
Fabulous place - we will be back
My most used cookbook comes from Bayona... busted spine; dog-eared pages... coming here was awesome. Even the five year old loved it.
Back for the first time in about five years for a pre-theater dinner. The food and service were wonderful. We don't wan to wait nearly as long for the next visit.
