Bayona Ratings and Reviews
At our last visit in July our meal was impeccable prepared and service was excellent Not so this time. Flavors excellent but nothing served hot enough including my pork osso bucco and my husband s red fish. The best dish was the salad w quail because it was a salad and therefore not to be served hot. Service was so so It consisted of a team oh 3. A head server w 2 assistants The head server was more school teacherish than trying to help you with the menu I had to tell the assistants who walked around together to bring plates for a shared dish and to remove finished plates Overall disappointed this time. The small restaurant was fully booked and I believe too much for kitchen and wait staff. No excuses this is supposedly a 5 Star restaurant
I took my girlfriend on a date. We were very well received by the hostess. Our entrees took almost an hour to come to us. We basically finished an entire bottle of wine before we received it. They waiters noticed about 45 minutes into that time and we were given free dessert as a courtesy. The food was very good and the environment is gorgeous. I just wish they'd been a bit more attentive to us as they seemed to be to other guests.
Came here for 2017 Revillion dinner. 4 course meal for $75. I also purchased the wine pairings for an additional $45. Punchline - food was very good to excellent. DO NOT get the wine pairings. First, while there are 4 food courses, you only get 3 wines. Second, the wines were basic to just not good. Third, the wines are served with the following descriptions: “this is Chardonnay”. No description of which country or region and certainly not producer. Btw - the 3 wines I received (small glasses - maybe 4 oz pours) were: a Chardonnay, a Chardonnay Viognier blend, and a Barbera. While food was very good, at $75 not much discount for the restaurant selected Revillion items.
Disappointed. Our second visit to Bayona did not compare favorably to our initial visit in 2015. While the food quality was good we endured an unacceptably long delay of 90 minutes between receipt of our starter and the arrival of our final entrées. We painfully watched 2 nearby couples/tables complete their meals and leave before us notwithstanding we had arrived first and placed our orders ahead of theirs. We had reserved Bayona for our final evening meal in NOLA wanting a memorable experience: unfortunately Bayona didn't meet our expectations nor did it make the grade compared with the service levels we experienced recently dining at Antoines, Galatoire's, Delmonico and the Commander's Palace.
Outstanding food and service in a charming setting. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and every effort was made on the part of the staff to make this an exceptional experience. The heirloom tomato appetizer with grilled scallops was absolutely original and delicious. Good selection of wines. Overall a great atmosphere and great value. We will definitely recommend!!
What a fantastic meal! Every dish of every course was positively exquisite, from the garlic soup and the goat cheese crouton to the duck breast and filet. We had four different entrees between us and each one had its own special, delightful flavor profile that left us MMMMMM-ing and Yummmm-ing the entire time! The staff was on point, utterly professional and knowledgeable yet friendly and unpretentious. This is in my top 3 favorite restaurants in the city. Maybe even top 2. Or maybe even top 1, because it's just that great!
We had tried to eat here during the Jazz Fest but couldn't get a reservation. We were luckier on this visit. The atmosphere is lovely. The quail salad was wonderful. The duck entre was not. The osso bucco was too heavy for this time of year--but I ordered it anyway. The desserts were excellent. We overheard the diners next to us remark, "Next time we'll just have the quail salad and dessert." We agree.
I have heard rave reviews from my NOLA foodie friends about Bayona for years, and we finally visited and all their accolades were truly warranted! This place was quiet, the service impeccable, and the food original and tasty. My wife takes me on a date every time we come to New Orleans, and Bayona is a perfect spot to talk and enjoy a wonderful meal. We will definitely return.
Would highly recommend. From the bread to entrees to deserts. Everything was amazing tastewise and some of the best we've had. Wife didn't finish orbeat much of her fish and they were willing to take off of the bill in an effort to make us happy in the event it wasn't good. Very highly recommend and may have gone to the top of our many new Orleans favorites. Definitely recommend trying the veal sweetbreads. One of the best flavors imaginable.
My group of friends and I had a wonderful experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious cuisine and the late lunch atmosphere. We visited towards the end of their lunch hours and never felt rushed. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the service is impeccable.
Bayona is a pretty restaurant with nice, comfortable outdoor seating in a relatively quiet part of the French Quarter. Food was solid across the board, but service was leisurely to a fault. We were assured we'd have two waiters attending to our needs, but we had to wait over 20 minutes before anyone took our drink order. By that point, we were trying to avoid being there all night, so we ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner all at once. Service picked up a bit after that, but it was still a long wait between courses on a night when the restaurant was less than half full. In the end, a relatively simple business dinner for 5 (no desserts or after dinner drinks) took over 3 hours, and our host was thoroughly agitated by the time our check arrived and just wanted to get out.
