We went there thinking we were going to sit waterfront, but we weren’t close to the water they were actually renovating so that was not an option. The sauce for the filet mignon was very salty, and their menu regarding the sides was confusing? Did I pay for the side? When I went to the ladies room, upon flushing the toilet the water was literally spewing from the toilet all over my shoes and feet. We showed the manager what had occurred and he took my name and number and apologized but I doubt he will call my number to offer some kind I’m sorry your shoes are ruined. Not to mention the toilet water... gross. Our server was great the steak was great but the sauce was not very good.
Just not the same as the Sofitel. The menu has changed and would not recommend. The oatmeal was served with raw sugar vs. brown. The service was horrible, kept having to ask for coffee and ice tea refills to name a few. Will not return after many years of enjoying a leisurely breakfast.
I have gone to this restaurant for about ten years primarily for breakfast. They always had wonderful French press coffee that made breakfast delightful. Since new management took over, they discontinued the French press coffee 😢, discontinued the egg white frittata (although they will make it if you ask but both times the bottom was almost burned), the service has really dropped off. They even changed the hotel name from Sofitel (chic cool Silicon Valley) to Pullman which is very old fashioned and not at all Silicon Valley. You had a winner before and the new owners have ruined it in my opinion!
Phenomenal food!!! We enjoyed every bit of our meal and left feeling satisfied but not stuffed. The restaurant is situated in the lobby of the hotel so it's a bit strange when you first enter the hotel and look for the restaurant. Parking was a bit odd too since there weren't any visible signs. Most important though is that the food and service were spot on.

Went for business dinner with one other person. Order the Charcuterie Platter and a side dish. They never brought the side dish and the Charcuterie platter was only 50% edible. Everything else was fat. I guess the French touch is gone.
Spacious, quiet, tastefully decorated, windows--a setting to settle back and enjoy. Food was inventive, portions the size of large appetizers and reasonably enough priced that we did not hesitate to order several, to share. Brought home some crab cakes for my wife who loves crab cakes, and she said they were excelled.
Brand new menu, literally first day serving from a menu that is all different now that the hotel is under the Pullman brand. Much improved in selection and quality is quite good. Hamachi, bison meatballs, lamb rack and filet mignon were all very nicely prepared and presented, not to mention delicious.
Another great experience at Bay 223 for my husband's birthday. I asked for the private red room as we were 14 and was warned that there is now a minimum fee to spend, which was reached easily because of our number. The privacy and service were great, the only downside was that the hot entrees were not as good as the last times we went and there was less choice of them, but the crepes stand and the pastries were a big hit.
Perfect spot to host a family birthday party--scenic even in the rain! Convenient location, plenty of parking, good space around tables. The quality of the brunch buffet was adequate, although it did not meet the same standards as the weekday a la carte breakfast menu.
Really looked forward to going to this Sunday buffet since I had been there several years ago and remember it to be very good. However, it was somewhat disappointing. The seating layout has changed - it feels like you are seated in the lobby, we were a group of 6 squished into a small table beside the kitchen, the service was very poor - I had to ask for a cup of coffee twice (this was the Sunday morning buffet!), there was a kids birthday party going on with clowns and games on one side of the space (very noisy) and all of this was $50/person. Food was fine for the most part but a very expensive breakfast with NO ambiance or pleasant dining environment to speak of.
I wish the Sunday Champagne Brunch buffet on Father's Day was better. The prawns seemed to have been previously frozen (soft and mealy)...not firm like fresh prawns should be. The medium-rare roast lamb was very good. Mixed salad greens were limp - wish they would refresh them with cold water.
The big disappointment was the service - it was lackadaisical at best. My husband had to bring his glass up to the servers' beverage station (near the bar), to get a refill of champagne. We had to stack our empty plates at our table because the server was very slow in clearing away the used plates. The only time the server was attentive was after we paid our bill and vacated the table - she was there in an instant to look at the credit card bill (and her tip, I'm sure)! We should've left nothing for a tip but couldn't be that mean.
We all had a great time at the Sofitel Redwood City's Sunday Brunch. Tables were well spaced, decorated in a lovely manner, and with fresh flowers. A small group provided live music. Food stations were well organized, and always replenished! There was even a food station for kids. Food quality was excellent. Champagne and Mimosa provided. Coffee station in each sitting area. The only negative, was a lack of attention of the service staff to clear tables of used plates (which accumulates quickly in a buffet situation).
Our server Kenny was friendly and attentive. He had a good knowledge of the menu and how the meals were served.
The atmosphere was nice with a small live jazz band, the booths had high backs that surrounded you so it was a nice intimate setting without the distraction of other diners.
The waterfront setting is very pleasant and gives you a nice place to hang out before or after your meal.
I was looking for something different for a pre-Valentine celebration. And i got it all.
Parking is free after valusation, very nice contemporary blue decor. Long wine list, pricy. However, i did my homework and was aware ;-). Good service level, and almost empty, which my beau especially enjoyed. We wanted be able to talk and avoid noisy environment. The food was decent as well. I loved desert list, chosen creme brulee was tasteful. And i am not easy to please. Bread selection was great, even i am not a big bread eater, i've tried some. Overall, we will be definetely back.
Bay223 is a nice place for conversation. It is quiet, low-key. The food is expensive, but not too far out of line for high-class san Francisco hotel restaurants. The wine flight featured totally forgettable reds and whites... out of six wines, one was adequate, the others spittable. The food was imaginably prepared, well presented. The hanger steak was tough -- not at all a good steak. Service was impeccable, low key and appreciated.
Service was 4-Star. have a lovely meal here if staying or just live nearby! Bread Baked in-house. Perfect Pesto w/ Breadstix. Generous and beautifully plated Tuna Tartar. Perfectly Seared Scallops with Pillowy Gnocchi in Complex Lobster Sauce was over-the-top delicious! Dessert was a flight of fancy French pastries and bubbly--perfect!
Quiet and comfortable atmosphere. It's a great place for business as well as causal lunch or dinner. Request to be seated at their booths to add more privacy. I always do. Nice food, nice service. Always enjoy going there.
Parking at the hotel parking lot with plenty of space and validation adds another star to this place.
It's a nice place with validated parking inside Sofitel. I have been there many times. It's contemporary and cozy. I love the booths for small parties when you get some privacy. They offer a menu with decent selections. I tried the Mediterranean vegetarian rice which was delicious.
All other dishes nicely done, except that I wish the bread they serve would be warm/hot, but it was cold.

My husband and I had an outstanding dining experience three weeks previous so we looked forward to once again dining at Bay223. Previously we asked and were seated in the 2nd dining room, much quieter and more enjoyable for us. It felt like fine dining. This time we were told it was closed and we were seated in the first dining room, adjacent and open to the bar. It was very loud and very bright. We asked for a booth and were led to a table that looked over the bar. We insisted on a booth and it seemed like a major imposition to give one to us. The food was still outstanding but the experience was not as relaxing and enjoyable as before.
Amazing hospitality! Delicious breakfast! Sam greeted us at the front reception stand and treated us as if we were royalty. We had tried to use the Open Table app for our reservation, but couldn't. We took a chance and went over to Bar 223 anyway. Best move of our day. Sam. The manager of this restaurant, explained that there was an issue with the Open Table system, which he had resolved by the time we arrived, but you'd never have known it by his calm demeanor. We were able to place our reservation on OT and enjoyed a fresh, hot, delicious egg white omelet. Fresh rolls were offered. Fresh, hot cappuccino. Bright, open space. Comfortable banquets to relax and spread out in. No pushy, hurry-up attitude here. Our server Anna was helpful, friendly and made sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. We will be back again. Sam and his team really understand restaurant hospitality. Thank you.
We met a friend for dinner and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere as we could converse without having to shout. The service (Benny) was excellent as was the food. Our friend is a picky eater and usually leaves most on the plate, but she ate everything on this occasion. The salmon was excellent as were the desserts. The place has a nice outlook toward the lagoon outside. Parking in the hotel garage was free. No need for valet parking, which is $20.
I was looking for a Sunday brunch with a water view as advertised. not really the case at all. it was average at best. go elsewhere. nothing spectacular here. not the view. not the view. not the service. not the brunch. no omlettes on the brunch, no salmon, no meat. ordinary.
Pricey, like most hotel restaurants, but better than average food. You're sharing dinner with people on expense accounts attending a conference or meeting. Menu is nicely laid out with good variety and annotations for vegan, gluten free, and lower calorie meals, which I appreciated. The wine list skews to the high end, as expected in the greater Silicon Valley area, but there were 3 relatively inexpensive wine flights and many wines by the glass. We had good meals but I have higher expectations at this price point.
This was the Mother's Day brunch. We had enjoyed non-holiday brunch many times before, usually seated in the booths overlooking the water. But on Mother's Day the brunch was served in the ball rooms, on ordinary tables and straight backed chairs. It was self serve. Buffets are like that, and that's OK, but when I asked for coffee I was informed that coffee was self serve too (it doesn't work that way normally.) In short, it felt like a cafeteria. Since the web page that advertised it included a picture of their cozy booth, it was a big disappointment.
