Everyone was very pleased with the quality of the food. Very Special Italian themed menu, upscale. Gorgeous view. Quiet and elegant with particularly expert service.
Started out so nice. Great greeting. Great view table. Server was prompt. Then downhill. Gave server benefit of probably being trained ... Referred to wine selections as numbers. Asked many times as to how food was prepared. One word answers. Grilled. With? Tomatoes ... When in fact it was poached with potatoes and very soggy broccolini. I know the wine maker dinners get glowing reviews.
Our evening was disappointing. No compensation (maybe another choice?) was offered even tho I left my meal uneaten.
Went for restaurant week and loved it. Great food and service. We will be back. Our server was terrific as was the Maitre de.

We really wanted to love this place, but were left disappointed. The view was amazing. We went for a drink at the bar first and watched the sunset and that was great, but it went downhill from there. Everything just seemed “off”...the food, the service, everything. Our server was very nice and attentive, but was severely lacking in fine dining experience, and interrupted us too frequently. The food was not very good. We had the burrata platter $16 (decent, but tasted like something you buy from Safeway, and only came with two small pieces of grilled bread), seafood cioppino $40 (sauce was very good, the seafood was minimal and not very good), breaded veal topped with arugula and Parmesan $38 (dry, didn’t come with sauce or a side, literally just a piece of veal with arugula and parm on top, and was served with tin foil wrapped around the bone, I believe the kitchen forgot to remove it but either way the presentation was tacky), and creme brûlée $8 (undercooked, the top was barely toasted). We brought our own wine and corkage was $20. We will never go back, and I don’t recommend it. So many amazing restaurants in the area, no point in going here.
We were in Bodega Bay for just one night, and wanted a special place to have dinner and celebrate an anniversary. We selected the Bay View Restaurant, and were very happy with the choice. The food was very good--the crab and avocado tower was special--and the service was excellent (thank you, Fletcher). My only complaint is that the menu is somewhat limited, especially for people who normally eat vegetarian. Yes, the menu does say at the bottom that vegan and vegetarian requests will be honored, but most of the time I don't want to have to create the dish myself; it's part of the reason for going out to eat. But that is a minor problem, and I wouldn't have a moment's hesitation to return for another meal there.
This was a return visit for us to this restaurant as we have stayed at the hotel where the restaurant is located. We keep coming back because the food and view are both great! This trip we planned to eat elsewhere but changed our minds and ate at the Bay View because it's so convenient if you are staying at the Inn at the Tides - simply walk down to the restaurant - no need to get in the car and drive elsewhere when such a good restaurant is right there!
The restaurant was was over-booked and under-staffed. The bartender and wait staff were very apologetic, but the owner/manager was too busy blaming the customers for overstaying their welcome. These were the same customers who just waited over an hour for their first course! Very unlikely that we will ever return and as locals that is a very sad statement.
The view and sunset were great. Regarding review, so hard to say as it was Christmas Day the the whole staff was in chaos. So Ridiculously bad that it was laughable but, it was Christmas so guessing they had all the new employees. A skeleton crew. We would try again and of course it didn’t ruin our Christmas!
As usual the food was quite good. This particular evening (Christmas Eve) we had a young woman server who was the least trained for the job than I've experienced for a long time. Nothing she did was appropriate: she had to come back and ask what number the wine was (a decent but not very extended wine list), she had difficulty opening the wine and proceeded to pour both glasses without my being able to check the wine out, she brought my appetizer and one to my wife which she didn't order, we waited for the first course (pasta) but instead she brought the full meal all at one time, and so on.
Really enjoyed dining here with my parents. Reviews are so mixed I didn’t know what to expect but the service was outstanding! Host, servers and bussers were friendly and efficient. Food was very tasty though prices were a bit higher than I expected (eg: $32 fish entree, $22 chicken piccata, $38 cioppino) but entrees were generous and delicious. Overall I was pleasantly surprised and look forward to going for drinks on the bay view patio on a warmer night.
Nice restaurant in the area and view of the bay. There on Thanksgiving Day so menu limited. All was very good and enjoyable.
Waited 20 minutes for a waiter. Then 1 1/2 for the food.... which wasn’t editable. Talked to the manager and he was as bad as the service and the food. NEVER go back to this restaurant
Have dined here several times over last few years and service and food always great. View west over the Pacific, if you dine during daylight hours, is spectacular. Service is above average which must not be easy since Bodega Bay is relatively remote. Good selection of wines, creative deserts as well. Selection of entrees has something for all tastes and specials are generally an additional fresh seafood selection fresh off the boats literally down the street.
My dining experience at the Bay View Restaurant-Inn at the Tides was excellent.
The panoramic views are memorable and the restaurant is tastefully furnished. The quality of
service is definitely first rate. I found my server to be friendly, helpful with menu and wine
advice and attentive without being intrusive. I appreciated that the staff manager approached
to inquire if all was to my satisfaction, which it was.
Finally, the cuisine was uniformly superb. Everything I tasted was delicious and showed
a creative flair. My meal was one of the best that I have ever had in my life.
I will certainly recommend the Bay View Restaurant to friends and colleagues. Thank you.
We had a great time-the staff were all friendly and helpful-food was great-we even got a comp appetizer because our entree took a bit longer. The only thing missing was a piano player to play the beautiful piano. Will definitely come back in future visits to Bodega Bay.

the menu was appealing which is why we booked the dinner reservation over other restaurants in the area. The food did not disappoint, the osso bucco was delicious. The gnocchi with goat cheese sauce was a nice primi although too much for one person.
The service was OK. The noise level was LOUD due to a really boisterous group having a somewhat inappropriate conversation for a restaurant but they were not asked to quiet down. A few couples were trying to have a nice dinner conversation date night like we were and this group was quite distracting.
The wine list left a lot to be desired so much so that my husband went back to our hotel down the block to retrieve our own wines we had brought up just in case. The wine list did not showcase the region well. We brought an Elizabeth Spencer Winery Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir which paired well with the osso bucco. And a Reverie Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon for the filet pairing.
Overall it was a nice dinner menu and we enjoyed the food but wouldn't recommend this as a quiet date night dinner option.

The restaurant was very nice, the food excellent but the service was terrible. It was Christmas and maybe our waiter had just had it, but he was slow, distracted, inattentive. Lucky for us we weren't in a hurry and it became somewhat comical to see how much worse he could be. Everything took forever. My daughter who is usually very forgiving about this, due to being in the industry herself, was very disappointed. We'd try the restaurant again but if service was bad again we'd never go back.

I had Thanksgiving Dinner by myself, I enjoyed the ambiance and the food very much, Fletcher and the Host make me feel comfortable, I noticed the Host took the time to ask personally at each tale how things were.
The food was absolutely amazing. My husband had the veal. His exact words "best thing I have ever put in my mouth". I had the filet mignon Hancock (filet mignon stuffed with crab!) it was to die for. Service was great. Atmosphere was beautiful. They even had a live piano player. We are telling all our friends about this beautiful little jewel. You have to eat here!

Food was very good and the restaurant has a nice view. Our server was terrible - he took our wine order and then when he returned with our appetizer he took the empty wine glasses - we assumed perhaps he was bringing back pinot noir glasses - but no - he simply forgot we ordered a bottle of wine. After we reminded him he served it poorly. He also asked on four different occasions during the meal if we were staying in resort - we said no each time- and then he presented a room charge bill rather than a normal bill to pay by credit card.
We noticed other servers that appeared to be very competent at other tables so maybe we just a got a bad server.

This was our first visit to Inn at the Tides. The atmosphere walking into the restaurant is very off-putting; having perused the online menu ahead of time, we expected a different feel to this longstanding classic venue. Our waiter was friendly and the view of the ocean lovely, but the restaurant definitely needs to be upgraded in general to match the real tablecloths and the quality of the food presented. Hint: doing so might also encourage other diners to "dress for the occasion".

A very enjoyable place, ambiance, food are very good. Unfortunately we had a waiter who forgot part of the order, did not remember who ordered what and overall was not at tentative at all.
No sign on the building, so it was hard to find. Have to park below the entrance and hike up. Nice views. Went on a Saturday night, there was a pianist playing -- nice touch. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Service was quick and everyone was quite friendly.
Food itself wasn't so great. My wife's scallops were overdone, and my filet was ordered mid rare but came out mid well. Everything was lacking seasoning in a big way, but nothing some salt & pepper shakers couldn't handle.
2 apps, 2 entrees, 1 dessert & 3 (alcoholic) drinks was like $120, so in that sense it was an outstanding deal, just not really a noteworthy meal.

Great food, great service- Jenna was our server, she was so attentive and sweet. We had the filet mignon stuffed with crab. So amazing I couldn't believe my taste buds . The second it hit my mouth I was in heaven. I would recommend this place any time any day!
Hesitant to try this restaurant as reviews noted poor service. Our experience was very different. Perhaps because it was a weeknight and off season, the restaurant had few diners. Beet salad, Ceasar salad, veal and steak all quite good. Service was very good and friendly.
I made a reservation for a party of 3 to celebrate my husband's birthday, and requested a window table. We arrived early (soon after the restaurant opened for dinner) and were seated at a lovely window table overlooking the bay. We ordered vegetarian starters, mains of scampi, scallops, and gnocchi, and desserts. My favorites were the stuffed squash blossom and very tender scallops. And a healthy pour of Lagavulin from the bar...
We hadn't been to the Bay View Room since it became Italian-food oriented. It was absolutely delicious starting with our crab cakes appetizer through soup and entree. We visit Bodega Bay often and will definitely return!
The Bay View consistently serves excellent food. The restaurant is also consistently understaffed. Our dinner took over two and a half hours. It is a shame. Many of the customers grew increasingly impatient with the incredible wait.
To the credit of the staff, our waitress brought out several rounds of complementary h'orderves that were very tasty and helped to lessen the interminable time between courses. I marked that service was only "very good" because of the time it took not because of our waitress, Chelsea, who was charming, and who used good humor to ease the tension from the wait. Even after waiting two hours for our food, it was superb, served on hot plates, and clearly had been just prepared. You must balance the good with the bad. If you want a leisurely, gourmet dinner with almost unlimited time to socialize with your companions, this is your place. If you looking for a normal dining experience, eat across the street at The Tides.
Wonderful dinner, great service, very personable. Second time at restaurant and will be back. The food was fabulous, and the service great.
