Bay Harbor Ratings and Reviews
I took my wife here for her birthday as a special out of town trip. The restaurant was really nice with views of lake Erie. Everything about the food was average and not worth the price. Our steak was under cooked and the side of perch was dry and the coating was thick and crunchy without much flavor. My wife had the chocolate cake for dessert and said it was just okay.
The waiter staff was very friendly and served us well...the took the steak back and had it cooked to the medium we originally ordered.
Overall I would not recommend this restaurant as you can get the same or better quality food for less at other places.
Two friends took my husband and I out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. Our meals were just mediocre at best. What a major disappointment, the quality was not the best. We were supposed to be served vegetables of the day that were green beans and carrots. Upon delivery of our meal, we viewed about 4 long carrots with greens at the top and they were so undercooked that we could not even get a fork into them. We were brought more cooked ones but there was no flavoring on them at all, just plain ole carrots. I ordered my filet medium, just a little pink, no blood which is the way it was served, however, it was very dry and really had no taste. I ate half and took the other half home which when warmed was unable to be eaten and was thrown out. My husband loves Walleye and he likes it sauteed or baked, something other than fried. The menu listed fried Walleye. When the server was asked if it could be sauteed or baked, she replied "No" I don't think they can do that but I will check. We were not informed that they could not do it, it was just delivered fried. We haven't eaten at Bay Harbor for many years and probably will not again unless it is improved immensely. I worked at Cedar Point for 43 years full-time and started in the Food Service Department in 1971. The management in Food Service at that time made sure the employees provided a meal that guest's would rave about to everyone and management from the park was at Bay Harbor to make sure everything was done appropriately and Bay Harbor at that time was one of the best restaurants in the area and guests would stand in line to enjoy a meal there.
Approximately 30 years had passed since we last dined at Bay Harbor Inn with our young daughter, now grown with a young family of her own. We remembered good food, attentive service, and a quiet refuge away from the activity of the park. This visit did not disappoint. The menu has been updated considerably. We were very pleased with our cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. Our server was knowledgable, gracious and devoted just the right amount of attention to us as we lingered enjoying the view and the atmosphere. A conversation with the executive chef at the conclusion of our meal was a special treat.
Good location at tourist destination, food was "OK", but not gourmet by any means. Over scripted waitress excessively pushed cocktails, wines and add on's. On this particular night, this restaurant was the only "fine dining" establishment open in the area on a holiday weekend. Great view in a marina waterfront environment.
If you're at cedar point and want a good meal this is your only option, but food is average and outside tables were covered in spiderwebs, opened the umbrella to keep the sun off and dead bugs like 80-100 were stuck inside the umbrella and fell into my beer- gross.
This was a great experience! Upscale but Family Friendly. I am still talking about (and craving) more of the Heirloom Tomato Carpaccio and everything else we had was great too. Our server was very engaging and went above and beyond the level of service that you typically receive even at other fine dining establishments. As a foody it was really one of the highlights of our trip.
Where do I begin. We were on vacation and I was looking forward to this for a long time. I was disappointed. The chef greeted us and I anticipated that this would translate into a wonderful dining experience. My wife's bisque was too salty, her filet mignon was well below our standards. The shrimp cocktail appeared to be frozen shrimp thawed from BJs. Our server was very gracious, however, and that made up for the food.
We had sooooo much fun at Bay Harbor. We were on a mini-vacation at Cedar Point after a 5-day pageant my daughter was in. We decided to take her to Cedar Point and then I had to go on to my high school reunion - altogether a two week trip. This evening at Bay Harbor was such a beautiful break from all the noise and busy-ness and people. It was fairly quiet, with a few tables filling up. The food was awesome. I had the walleye, my daughter had tortellini, and my husband had the fillet mignon. All were delicious. Chef Pete came out to our table to meet my daughter and say hello. Our waitress was so good and kind. Best of all, the live music was awesome! I wish I could remember his name, but he's there on Thursday nights and he plays EVERYTHING!!! My daughter requested "Bad to the Bone" and even though he had never played it, he attempted it and it was great! She got to dance to her song and all the rest that he played that night was just fantastic! Great ambiance on the marina and a nice fire pit on the patio. What could be better?
A hidden gem, part of the Cedar Point complex, for the last 40 years. Accessible from the park, although no park admissionis necessary. I've been coming here for most of those years.
Excellent seafood and talented team of servers and bartenders make this an enjoyable place to dine and certainly a great way to escape the hecticness of the park.
The food was beyond average. Very good. We went because we were meeting people at Cedar Point and it was a nice dinner out. We had a few odd things happen: the power went out after we had ordered drinks, and after 20 mins it came on and we ordered dinner and appetizers. The appetizers never came, but I believe that due to the power failure. What I did find out later was that if you are a guest of the property HOTEL BREAKERS, which we were, you are to get a 10% discount. No one asked us if we were staying at the resort and I'm assuming most patrons were staying at the resort. Our bill was $400, thus savings were not small. We should have been asked. I will say though, the food was superior and I'm from Chicago, with some of the best food in the world, thus worth going to!
We decided to go to Bay Harbour with our son ( a chef in Columbus, OH) who was visiting. I ordered the perch and it appeared to be a frozen perch. It was dry and not what I am accustomed to enjoying here on the Northcoast. Our son had the scallops and he was less than thrilled with their preparation. The risotto was over-cooked. My husband had a steak and it was just "ok". Suffice to say, we will not be returning for quite awhile. I would not recommend.
Everything was perfect except for my wife's grouper. It came out undercooked and we had to send it back. They were very apologetic and accommodating. Very professional setting and waitress. Absolutely looking forward to coming back here during our next vacation.
We made a reservation and asked to sit by the windows when we got there and they told us that those tables were reserved already so we were sat in the middle of the restaurant, nobody else was seated around us we ate our meal and still those tables that supposedly were reserved were empty the whole time.
We ate there on a visit for 4th of July weekend. Our waitress was very good and friendly. My food came out just the way I asked for it. The crab cake appetizer was delicious. The only bad thing was my husband ordered the special which was prime rib. It was very dry and overcooked with no juices like it had been sitting for a while. The view of the water and boats was nice and it is right near Cedar Point amusement park.
We were vacationing at Cedar point and made a reservation for dinner on our first evening. The Food was delicious and they had numerous seafood dishes on their menu that included local Fish. I enjoyed walleye for the first time.
Our table had a view of the harbor and we watched the sunset while dining.
We were in town for my daughters dance competition. I wanted my husband to have a nice seafood meal for Father's Day. The crumbs on the floors (it was 5! They just opened) should have been my indication. My husbands lobster bisque was cold. My filet was ordered medium. It came out like a hockey puck. Our waitress was even upset. While I waited for my 2nd filet my family ate. My husband said his scallops were mushy. When my 2nd filet arrived and I cut into a rare piece of meat I was done. We paid and left. I ended up at an Arby's. Lol. The manager never came over. Not at all what I would expect for a restaurant with that price point.
Our waitress was very nice. Wasn't her fault. Lol. But. I wanted to save someone else from this experience. Our hotel recommended red lobster. So, if in the area and you want seafood....that's what I would do.
