I was very impressed with the layout of the restaurant it was my first visit. The atmosphere is fantastic the drinks were great. Service was beyond a shadow of a doubt super excellent. Our waiter was very informed and very helpful. The food was good I have only one complaint. There were some stringy root type things in my mashed potatoes almost like bristles from a brush. I had quite a few I pulled out for 5 at the restaurant and decided not to eat the rest. They were very accommodating. It does not discourage me from not going back because I intend to do so very soon. I give it a four out of five.
Everything was awesome - from the service to the food and drinks. Love this place!
Very stylish decor with great food! You can go full blast into steaks and killer lamb chops or share small plates for a more casual meal. Nice wine list and great cocktails. Not in my neighborhood but would definitely dine again if in the area.
My wife and I went there to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary. We were welcomed with a smile and introduced to our main server(Delaney) and backup server(Marissa). There was a delay in receiving our appetizer and when the manager brought it to our table, she stated it was on the house due to the delay. Even with the delay the drunken mushrooms were still delectable. There was a balsamic drizzle that took the dish to another level. When ordering our entrees, I asked if I should get the Caesar salad or the Baxter salad. Without hesitation Delaney suggested the Baxter salad. There were candied pecans, apples, and Gouda as well as a sweet vinaigrette. I had the Brazilian kabobs for my entree and my wife had the grilled Mahi Mahi. There was more than enough meat on the kabobs for me to be stuffed. There were a few too many onions for me, but that may just be preference. The Mahi Mahi had a bacon, apple, butternut squash hash that brilliantly brought out the fresh , grilled notes of the seafood. As a gift for our anniversary, we were given their signature gooey butter cake for dessert. I highly recommend this establishment for your next date night or group celebration. There was a great ambiance and it was easy to have a conversation throughout the night.
Whenever we have a Special event and want a nice dinner, we go to Baxter's in Bloomington. Classy Restaurant.
Dinner was excellent, and the service was great! We were entertaining out-of-town family, and they loved it!
We had a party of 4. Our server took a very long time to bring drinks to the table and didn’t come by often to check on us throughout the meal. Our appetizer was good (fried calamari). My grandfather and I ordered the 10oz prime rib, portion was good. We both thought the meat was tough and both were served Luke warm- I’m sure they were plated and waiting at warming stations for at least 10 mins before waiter brought them to us. My husband had the buffalo Mac n cheese and was not impressed at all. The salads were good and refreshing. The restaurant was not that busy we arrived around 5:20 for a 5:30 reservation and were seated right away. I really liked the ambiance and mood of the restaurant but the food just wasn’t worth the price.
Everything thing was perfect. From the food to the service. My wife and I will definitely visit this restaurant again.
Several of the 4 entrees were cold. Vegetables served with the fish were cold and raw.
Our server was informative and attentive. The food was delicious. My only negative is no one was at front to greet us.
FOod was over priced and horrible. We left very disappointed.
Connor & Kyle were great! They were attentive and just enjoyable. Our meals were outstanding. Definitely recommend the Steak Nachos & the special Old Fashion.
We had a very enjoyable evening and the service was impeccable!
Our first visit to Baxter's and our experience was great. After making the reservation on Open Table, I called the restaurant to request a patio table and they gladly added that note. There was a reserved table on the patio waiting for us!
Servers were very friendly, but possibly a bit understaffed because the wait times in between visits was longer than we'd have liked - the whole meal took an hour and a half.
Food was very good - I had the blackened tilapia and they gladly substituted veggies for the rice. It was hot, seasoned just right. My husband had the Smothered Chicken and it had a yummy sauce. It was placed on mashed potatoes that were excellent.
Background music was too loud and not appropriate for dining in my opinion
Fantastic holiday brunch! Good selection of foods that were constantly refreshed!
$150 for 4 people for Mothers Day. The food variety was poor and quality not great. 1 mimosa and all we drank was water. SO DISAPPOINTING!!
We went to Baxter's for Mother's Day brunch. We enjoyed the food very much. The food selections were perfect. Everything was prepared well. The food was kept fresh and hot. The fresh fruit was excellent. Everything was fresh and tasty. There was a good selection of salads. I am a dessert guy and Baxter's has the best selection of desserts. I had cherry pie and lemon meringue pie too. We enjoy going for brunch at Baxter's
Went for Mother's Day Brunch and as usual it was great. Some food options were different from last year but not as good as what replaced but still lots of good options.
great spot for a nice night out, was busy and a bit loud but food was very good as well as service. Very good specials that were well seasoned and nicely presented.
We got our table on time and the drinks in the bar while we waited were great. We ordered steaks and they were over-done and not very tasty - and the wine which was a special was average quality. Disappointed in the food quality.
This is a wonderful place to eat. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff was courteous and hospitable. We had the steak tacos and the steak was nice and tender chips were fresh and not soggy. We also had a couple of those salads which were fresh and delicious with combination of wonderful ingredients. We decided to do dessert and ordered this beautiful Berry& Cream Neapolitan. It was light and refreshing with fresh berries definitely worth digging into.
The food (lamb and steak) were cooked to perfection as to what we ordered. The server was attentive but not intrusive. We were not rushed and allowed to enjoy at our own pace. It was an overall great experience. Wish there were more Baxter’s
Great food, great service! Would definitely recommend.
Delicious food and great service. Great variety of food and wines.
The music was so loud and had such a heavy base that people were talking loudly to be heard.
Food and service were excellent. The entire restaurant is kept very dark with very low illumination making it difficult to read the menu. I felt like being in a cinema. Not good!
Had dinner on a Friday evening. Reservation was honored on time with no wait for a table. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Food was excellent and presented shortly after the salad/soup course.
The restaurant was busy but we never felt rushed. Had some take home from one of the meals and the waiter boxed it for us. Very nice touch.
Our meal was amazing and our server McKenzie was superbly attentive! Great night out!!
Food and service is great! Typically a quite place but on this night there were a couple larger groups with children and they were very loud. Not a place I typically would bring lots of kids or expect that many to be there. Disappointed that parents did not keep them quieter.
Great food options and perfect service. Joe was friendly and the place is lively..
We love this place! Great food and wonderful drinks. We went for our anniversary and I'm gluten free. They are very accommodating. We were there during a prom night so it was a little busy and therefore noisy but we would definitely be back.
I would have given them 5 stars across the board but what should have been my gluten free meal, came with noodles that were not gluten free. I had shrimp and scallop scampi and it was not supposed to have noodles. I only ate them after the runner told me they were gluten free. After recovering, I would give them another try. My husband lamb chops were wonderful!!
I had a night out with my daughter ,had a great time.
Great food and service
My girlfriend I were very Happy with the service and the food was prepared perfect. I'm from Michigan, she lives in Bloomington and will definitely dine there.
Baxters delivers a dependable American menu. Service is well-trained. Can be noisy.
Salmon dish was wonderful. Service was very good. Beef/Veggie kabob was very plain - no seasoning? Conversely, seafood jambalaya was extraordinarily hot/spicy and overpowered the dish. Topped off dinner with the chocolate cake that was a treat for the eyes and delicious. Would advise avoiding kabob and jambalaya. Made reservation on Open Table and when arriving at restaurant, hostess indicated she couldn't find it, which prompted OT to contact me to ask what happened. Didn't need this hassle.
The Baxter’s Salad was delicious! The fish tacos were a little spicy for my liking but were still pretty good. Shelf Margarita was only so-so but the flourless chocolate cake was VERY good!! Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you happen to be in Bloomington.
This was my first visit to Baxter's. I have heard great things and I wasn't disappointed. My steak was cooked perfectly. My wife really enjoyed her dinner as well.
