Baxters Grille is an expert when it comes to great catering in Bloomington, IL and surrounding areas. We cater from small office parties to large scale formal weddings and everything in between. We have the privilege of working with the top venues in town and offer chef driven custom menus to meet your specific needs. We also offer full catering & staffing to the attached Holiday Inn & Suites Hotel.

Conveniently located on the Teal "J" line. Cab service is approximately $5 from downtown Bloomington. Arriving guests from the Central Illinois Regional Airport can simply contact the our adjoining hotel (Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites)for a complimentary ride to the restaurant.

Our private dining rooms at Baxter's can accommodate up to 80 people. Our adjoining hotel can also seat up to 250 in a large ballroom setting. I lived in southern Nevada for 46 years prior and was exposed to some of the finest cuisine and
chefs, in the world. Baxters would fit right into that environment with ease. The big difference
between the two above mentioned locations is, of course, the pricing. I paid less then $60.00
for a meal that would have cost $125.00 minimum in Las Vegas. Excellent food, great service
and comfortable environment. Definitely coming back, glad I found such a gourmet delight in
the Midwest and am recommending this restaurant to everyone. Thank you Baxter's for being
here. I would change the pudding cake ice cream from chocolate to french vanilla as
chocolate just doesn't fit the awesome taste of the dessert. Tommy R.
We were looking for a great steak dinner and found it here. We've been to Baxters before and had other good food here but never had tried the steak. We both had the ribeye (12 oz and 16 oz) with salad and potatoes side. The steaks were done to absolute perfection! Very enjoyable and satisfying meal.
This was my first time dining at Baxter’s and I cannot say enough great things about our meal. The appetizer was amazing!!!! The drinks were unique and so tasty!!! The Entre’s were filling and could possibly be one of the best meals I have had. Thank you so much for a great night!
Service was excellent. Ambiance is a little dark. I did not have wine. Food was exceptional. Steaks prepared as ordered, lots of veggie sides, calamari was tender, salads were not drowned in dressing. Good selection of side salads. Jambalaya flavorful and not too spicy. Gooey butter cake is heaven on a plate. Expensive.
Lunch with a friend. Service was great, except... She enjoyed her shrimp tacos. I ordered my fav, Baxter's salad with chicken - I usually get it with salmon. Chicken was burnt crispy and was a big difficult to chew. Great waiter except he took 15 minutes to return and check on us. Hungry and not wanting for my friend to wait to eat her lunch, I muddled through. Extremely disappointed in the salad!
We had dined here previously for lunch and enjoyed the service, food, and ambiance. We decided to try if for dinner. The result was disappointing.
We were welcomed and seated (but only after hostess went to see if "A" table was ready, not whether "our" table was ready, since we had a reservation).
Waiter was friendly and pleasant, but arrived after a bit of a delay. He took our drinks, but neglected to ask if we wanted to order appetizers (I meant to do so with our drinks, but I forgot).
Waiter brought my bottled beer without a glass, so I had to ask for one. I placed our appetizer order.
Salads inexplicably showed up before the appetizer. The server assured us our appetizer was coming shortly. That's not what we meant.
We had to ask for bread (most all other tables seemed to have it), whereupon our waiter asked us how many "butters" we wanted?! I said, "gosh, I don't know."
Smothered chicken was good, but not plated very attractively.
My rare ribeye was cooked properly, but was full of gristle and fat - poorly trimmed. The $3 side of sauted mushrooms was served on a salad plate (odd), and were not seasoned, buttery, or cooked thoroughly).
Waters went unfilled.
Waiter grabbed my finished plate without asking how it was (surely, he knew), so I told him that he should know it was gristley and poorly trimmed. Also told him I had hoped to order the risotto special, but it was sold out at 5:45 pm. How does that happen?
He told me he would let the chef and management know (thank you), and then promptly reported that the steak had been comp'd.
Thank goodness, otherwise the meal would have been a complete disaster.
Ambiance is great, I've been told it's a good place to come for drinks (hard to know how they'd screw that up).
Hope it was just an off night. Definitely a bad kitchen experience.
Waiter wasn’t interested in our table of two he was all about his large tables. Did not serve us our food checked on us once during meal. Walked by us many times without checking on us. We dine at Baxter’s several times a month and never had this little service.
Our overall experience at Baxters was excellent after we got over a few humps. I called ahead to let them know I was vegan and asked if they could accommodate me. Of course, they said sure. Once we arrived, our waitress was clueless and I asked her to inquire with the chef to see what he/she could do. However, in the meantime, she said I could order the chicken pesto pasta without the chicken or pesto. Lol. I guess that left me with plain pasta? Eventually, I had the chance to speak with Bria, the manager and she was amazing. She understood completely what it meant to be vegan and said she would take care of me. Well.... she wasn't kidding. The chef created an amazing stuffed mushroom dish with a variety of fresh vegetables and a savory sauce. The chef himself came out to our table to make sure I was happy with the dish. He was lovely and pleased that he was able to make this picky eater happy. The other members of our party had a chicken dish, another had the steak kabobs and two had filet. Everyone was happy with their meal in the end and we will be sure to return the next time we visit our kids at ISU.
This was not our first visit to Baxter's. We have always loved the food, the presentation and the staff is very accommodating and prompt. We will go back again. The prime rib on Friday's is excellent. At this particular visit we were served by Stacey and she was prompt and attentive.
