Locally owned. Delicious. Been here twice now with different people and everyone has been impressed with the food and atmosphere. Very cozy and intimate setting. If you are searching for a go to restaurant to take out of town friends to - this is it!
Awesome experience ....highly recommend this restaurant best pizza in Tampa !
My party of 4 adults and 2 children decided to try something different after Cirque du Soleil' s Volta last Saturday evening. We did not realize the Gasparilla Music Festival was going on so finding parking was a challenge. The nearest parking lot wanted $30 to park. We finally found parking and got to the restaurant a few minutes early. First impression: This place is smaller and louder than I thought. I wanted to be able to have dinner conversation but the level of noise made it impossible unless you were very close. There were two empty tables for 6, the hostess advised they were cleaning ours and it would be just a couple of minutes, could we wait outside? It was very crowded by the door with no good place to wait. My two kids and I stood outside under the awning since it was raining. The place was so busy that we kept having to go into the rain to make way for people going in/out. It took them between 5 - 10 minutes to come get us. (The hostess did apologize).
Now we're seated and we're hungry! We ordered the meatballs and antipasto plate to start. The meatballs were EXCELLENT. Their homemade sauce is absolutely delicious. The antipasto was good, a little too much arugala.
We ordered 3 pizzas: mushroom, pepperoni and margherita with the bufala mozzarella. They were all scrumptious! You eat them with a knife and fork because the dough is thin and soft.
Overall, I was very impressed. The pizza did taste like pizza that I tried in Italy a long time ago. It would be somewhere I'd recommend (and I already have!) for a novel idea and different than the norm pizza.
Was at the GMF & walked to Bavaro’s in between acts. Carrie Ann, our server was wonderful and the Sterling Vineyards Merlot with the olive, artichoke and sautéed spinach pizza really hit the spot.
Prior my arrival I had a diabetic episode and the manger was quick to assist me. First time there but not my last. The waitress was also top drawer!
Authentic, delicious italian dishes! It's our go-to place for a pre-theatre meal.
Good homemade pasta. Exceptionally nice server. I highly recommend it when you want something good to eat, but you're not in the mood for a splurge.
We were greeted warmly and were seated quickly at our reservation time. The service was quick, attentive and pleasant. Our order came quickly and correct. The food was awesome. One of the best cannoli's that I ever had. The price was worth every penny. Highly recommend.
Went for an early dinner before a show at Straz Theatre. Shared an antipasto platter and pizza with some excellent wine. The antipasto was great, with a variety of cured meats, cheeses, olives and greens. The four cheese pizza (our server's recommendation) was cooked perfectly and oh so good. Our server couldn't have been nicer. Definitely a two thumbs up.
Our meal exceeded expectations. Wonderful service, intimate yet casual atmosphere that felt like family. Cheese ravioli in vodka sauce rivaled pasta we had in Italy. Cannoli melted in our mouth. We will be back!
Reservation was at 5:00, opening time. From 5:30 until we finished, our server was very nice but was extremely slow and very inattentive. He brought the wrong drinks and an order of pasta bolognese was sent back because the pasta was hard and semi-cooked. First time it was brought back just heated up, still semi-raw. New order came after everyone else at table had already finished their meals.
Fantastic! Been going for every Valentine’s Day for 6 years! The pizza was the shape of a heart. Super cute and the food is always great! Nutella dessert is oh so good!
Always a good experience at Bavaro's. Food is excellent, service is very good. The table arrangement is a bit crowded (it was a holiday, so likely placed an extra table or two) and can be a bit loud but it's worth it. There is also outdoor seating for when the weather is pleasant. The restaurant is near the waterfront for a great walk after (or before) dinner.
Light bite before the Bocelli concert
First time I tried to go there I quickly learned one needs reservations. So instead we ended up in a great Spanish (Spain Restaurant and Toma Bar) restaurant on the other side of the building. Came back to see a show at the Straz and this time we made a reservation. We were promptly seated. Waitress was efficient but scarce. Also found it odd that they didn't offer butter or olive oil for the bread basket. My wife's pasta was clearly made in house and was delicious. Her salad was very fresh but lightly dressed. My pizza was delicious. They make a very different dough. It is thin but not crisp. They mention it is made to be eaten with knife and fork, which you will do. I thought the prices were very reasonable for a nice place. This is a nice stop before seeing a show. Just remember to make a reservation. I'll definitely go back.
This is a favorite stop anytime I'm in Tampa--the wine is great and the pizza is the best, I can't recommend it enough. (Reservations recommended for weekends-it gets busy).
Excellent food and service as always!
Server was horrible. Not attentive what so ever, pizza came out with Ash and pieces of wood from the wood fire. Was never addressed until we pointed it out. Should have never even arrived at the table in that condition. Service was horrible, completely forgotten about,
No plates, napkins or silverware for 15 minutes, hostess kept checking on us bc sever wasn’t doing her job. Food was delicious when corrected. Won’t fault a restaurant bc of one bad server and presentation. Will give another try but service was worst I’ve had!
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Menu items were unique in terms of ingredients (mozzarella from the milk of domesticated Italian water buffalo & the Tipo 00 Italian flour used for pizza dough as well as the San Mariano tomatoes used in sauce) and loved the wood fired pizza. Cannellonis out of this world. First visit here but will be back for sure!
Excellent pasta dishes.
Wonderful service. Came early and seated us within 10 minutes. Our waitress was exceptional.
The wood fired pizza is wonderful as are the appetizers. Peroni on draft is a treat too. I would encourage management to bump up the lighting as virtually every table was using a cell phone to read the menu. That aside, it's a great spot.
Got there earlier than our 5:00 reservation after watching RiverDance but allowed us to sit outside and order a glass of wine. Service and food were great.
Seeing that this place is always packed, I was surprised that the pizza was such a let down. Flavorless and flimsy :/
Had a reservation on OpenTable for the restaurant and they called back and said they were already full for that time even though we received a confirmation email for the reservation. Came back during rearranged time and didn't get seated for another 10 minutes. Had to ask for drink order twice. Food was average nothing special.
Best Italian for the price in Tampa and the only one that comes anywhere close to NYC little Italy in Manhatten or Boston north end.
Terrible service. Had to ask for everything; no utensils or water refills. Pizza was soggy. Overall disappointing
I heard about the restaurant from a friend and made a reservation for my wife, daughter and myself. We ordered 3 different pasta dishes and were pleasantly surprised at how good they were . We indulged in multiple conversations with some of the people, whom dined around us and can honestly say that we were in a very friendly atmosphere. We especially liked the conversations and menu education we got from the manager, Herman Jacobs. He obviously loves his job. We’ll definitely be back soon.
I made a reservation at this place as I have a teenager that is vegetarian, another that is a picky eater and 2 adults. Everyone found something to eat...and they LOVED it. I couldn't be more pleased. I loved my ravioli-cheese-with this restaurant's amazing sauce. My husband had the spinach pizza, and liked the fact that it wasn't heavy. Our waiter, Paublo was attentive and since it is a small restaurant, it was easy to make eye contact and he came over. After eating, we went to the Straz. The meal was just the right amount of food. I can't wait to go back.
We always love Bavaro's. Their pizza is so fresh and delicious and the salads are beautiful.
We had a group of 7 and had a great time. I would recommend having a reservation when you go as seating is very limited. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We had 3 different pizzas the ravioli Emiliano and a couple of other pasta dishes. Everyone cleaned up. We finished off with the Nutella pizza. That was really tasty as well. Service could have been a little better in keeping up with drinks and things like that, but overall it was a great night out.
Great food, VERY LOUD, and very cramped!
Pasta dishes were all wonderful. Pizza was ok, prefer my thin crust cooked a little more. It was just a little soggy, would be better if made a little crispy. The salad was also great. Service and staff were wonderful. Best vodka sauce around. Will definitely go back
We have been to Bavaro's a few times now and the food has been good each time. Love going to Bavaro's.
Pizza was not cooked properly, and the waitress did not care to fix the problem!
This place was a pleasant surprise. Food was fantastic - Pizza, ravioli and garlic bread were all very well executed. The dishes came with a good sized portion and at reasonable prices. Everything paired well with a bottle of wine and it made for a great date night. The place is a little small and quaint, so I would definitely recommend a reservation beforehand. We will absolutely be returning.
The pizza and wine list are exceptional, I truly love this restaurant--still worth the drive since I moved to Orlando!
Love Bavaro's. Pizza reminds me of my trip to Italy. Salads & Antipasti are fresh & tasty. Very authentic. Nice atmosphere.
The food was delicious, as it always is. However, the table wasn’t ready on time, one person was given a steel foldout chair to sit on, and the service was slow and scattered. It was obvious that they weren’t prepared for us, although we had a reservation well in advance. A little disappointing, as the group that I brought with me had never been before and had come on my recommendation. However, this one incident won’t deter me from dining here again.
