About

Leave it to Baumé Restaurant to introduce you to an extraordinary meeting of solid traditional French cuisine and dramatically innovative cooking. Chef Bruno Chemel loves taking his guests on a fun and unexpected journey of the senses, where saveurs and textures shine in entirely new ways. The path that led him from Paris to Tokyo to Palo Alto has enabled him to develop a rich creative palette, yet his love for adventurous cooking is grounded in his passion for simple, high-quality ingredients sourced sustainably. Influenced by his days in Asia, the stylish dining room was designed with guests' privacy in mind, while discreet and impeccable service contributes to lending this Zen-like space a flavor of exquisite tranquility. Enjoy a 12 course tasting menu. The wine list was thoughtfully selected to provide perfect pairings."

The nine-course lunch is a delight for foodies. Each dish is artistic and creative, a flavorful blend with each bite. We enjoyed the surprise each dish brought, though our surprise at seeing no choices other than the prix fixe menu was not as enjoyable.. as well as the price. We weren't expecting so many courses for our work lunch, but the wait staff were great at accommodating our time limitations. Lunch at Baume is a special treat!

I would have rated it higher, and I agree with other reviews that food and service were very good and worth trying, but I have to say both the overview on OpenTable and their website don't go out of their way explaining that the only available option is their 12 course dinner (at 'slightly' more than $50 per person)

Also not very well explained: they require a credit card to make the reservation but only AFTER making the reservation they inform you that you can only cancel with 72 hours advance notice (I made the reservation a couple of hours before) and you'll be charged a cancellation fee of $100.

Anyway, again, for a very special occasion and as long as you know, it is worth the experience.

Come when the boss is paying, but expect an unforgettable foodie experience. Best filet mignon EVER! 15 courses of taste and food worth taking pictures of. Dessert unremarkable though. One of the best restaurants in the whole Bay area, including Napa

I took my wife for her birthday. It was an exceptional meal. Everything was amazing, fresh, and beautifully presented. It is expensive, which you know going in, but perfect for that very special occasion.

The food was terrific - interesting and unusual. We were especially pleased by waitstaff who were friendly and informative. They were able to describe both food and wine clearly and precisely. I thought the squab, which they said was a relatively recent addition, was especially delicious.

Food was tasty, wine pairing was solid, dessert was lacking in quantity and variety.

Outstanding food although a little light on the portions - for what I paid I would have expected to be full at the end, especially after what 12? courses! The food was delicious and creative, and the wait staff was friendly, accommodating and extremely professional. Outrageously expensive and hard to justify unless money is not really meaningful to you.

The service was great up until after we were rushed out of the restaurant. I couldn't believe I paid that much to be rushed. We needed more opportunity to enjoy the food. There was even another gentleman two tables down that arrived the same time, but was not asked to hurry.

The decor was, but there wasn't much privacy. The conversations around us were very distracting.
