Aragosta Bar and Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The patio is pretty and we had great weather. The Dine Out Boston menu had plenty of options, including ones with supplemental charges. For drinks, my husband chose Harpoon - the only IPA choice. I chose a spiced watermelon daiquiri, but the only taste that came through was pepper. Both of our appetizers were additional charges, and were delicious (clam chowder and lobster bisque). I chose the Trout for dinner and my husband chose the Ribeye ($10 extra - cooked medium). My dinner was flavorful, but my husband's ribeye was cooked well-done and was plated with the steak on top of his fries, causing the fries to be soggy. For dessert I chose the molten cake and my husband chose the creme brulee. His brulee top was so burnt that he could not eat it. My cake was ok, but not decadent. Overall, it was underwhelming.
What a find! Amazing Restaurant Week menu that provides wonderful options and incredible value to diners. Went for the lunch and it was fabulous. Went back a second time and it was just as great. The restaurant is in the Battery Wharf Hotel with a terrific outdoor sitting area. Amazing views but the views are topped by the even more amazing entrees.
What a lovely breeze we had blowing off water as we enjoyed lunch on the patio. Service was great! Our waiter was very attentive! We enjoyed a delicious arugula salad and ordered the flatbread pizzas. They are not big. My husband ordered a full and it was a good size for one. He enjoyed the sausage and broccoli rhab. I ordered the margarita and would have preferred if they did not put a red sauce on it. The sauce tasted like tomato paste. Would be fine without since it's finished off with a yummy balsamic reduction. We enjoyed a nice walk along the harbor walk when we were done. Definitely would go back! They participate in the dine out Boston deal. We could see many ordered that. Wish we had! Definitely a nice time in city by the water. Would like to go back at night. Cool gas fire pits with comfy sectionals outside! Would be fun!
Perfect location on the quieter end of the Harbor Walk. In nice weather a great place to sit outside and watch the water activity. Indoors is comfortable and large, but laid out so you do not feel crowded. We have dined here many times and introduced many friends to it. Have always had great service and food!
Aragosta is a hidden gem in that it is a hotel restaurant with above average food & has a phenomenal location on the Boston waterfront, right next to the Coast Guard station. A fantastic spot for dining outdoors (at any meal). Our meal was delicious from start to finish - we particularly enjoyed the burrata, the caesar salad also great, as were the steamed clams. A lovely place to dine.
Poor experience overall. Most of the food was ok, nothing was particularly great. Ordered the tuna poke which came out undressed, as in, it was just a plate or raw tuna with no poke dressing. The table next to us ordered the poke as well, and theirs was correct and noticeably different as it was a completely different color. When we pointed this out to the waitress, she said "I don't know what happened" and simply offered to bring sauce from the kitchen. When she did, she brought salad dressing, and when we again asked her to take it back to the kitchen to point out the mistake, she took the plate and never followed up, nor did she remove it from the bill. This was very disappointing for a restaurant of this price point. Overall I would say there are far better restaurants for the price in the neighborhood. Would not recommend.
i ordered the kobe beef burger medium rare. it came well done, was very dry and WAY too salty. mcdonald's makes a better burger. the salad was wilted and swimming in dressing. the waiter never came by to ask about the meal. the setting, however, is magnificent.
This is really not the best season for shellfish, so maybe that's why the lobster in the seafood tower was utterly tasteless. The shrimp was okay. But my risotto left a lot to be desired. The flatbread was very good, and the drinks outstanding. Will, our server, was superb! He made up for what was missing in the culinary experience.
We were 3 couples, a group of 6. We found the out door dining experience and the small plate options (tapas) to be perfect for a pre-concert meal. The food was really good; fresh and well prepared. The service was attentful, knowledgeable and responsive. The outdoor space was well appointed and not too noisy to prevent normal levels of conversation amongst our group. Next time we may try what looked to be a clam bake option at one of the fire pit areas. We look forward to coming back.
They used to have the best lobster bisque and clam chowder in town. The different chefs keep changing the way its made and now taste like dishwater for bisque and chowder is straight from Campbells soup so it seems. Waiters don't seem to know how anything is made either. Very inconsistent and burgers and steaks always overdone no matter if you send them back.
Amazingly great food for a hotel restaurant! Several different dining options from sitting at the bar watching your food being prepared to outside harbor side dining to a great inside white tablecloth experience. Fresh and tasty seafood dishes and extraordinary Italian fair (to be expected in Boston's North End). They need to step up their game a little bit in terms of server attentiveness, but otherwise a fantastic experience.
We arrived a little early. They said we could sit-in the lobby area and gave us a drink menu. No one ever came to take a drink order. After about 20 minutes, I finally went to bar to order. I stood there for over 10 minutes before a bartender came to service us. We were finally seated at 5:25 for dinner; we were the first and only ones in the restaurant. I presented the coupon I had - the server went to see what to do with it. The chef was extremely loud and obnoxious about his unhappiness about the coupon and was hoping that we somehow did not follow all the rules so they did not have to honor it. I told our server that it was very rude how loud he was about it. We were given our specific menu and promptly ordered all of our courses. It was 45 minutes before we received our first course of soup. It was another looooong time before we received the salads. Again. Another very loooong time before we received our pasta and then the same for the entree. Did I mention that our coupon was for a 5 course tasting so each course was only a few spoonfuls. Thank goodness for the 4 baskets of bread we ordered in between courses. We didn't complete dinner until after 8pm - it was 2-1/2 hours long. In the meantime we saw other tables coming and going and their portions were normal size. How was it that ours took so much longer than anyone else? Were we being punished because we had a coupon? Did they forget that the opted In on the coupon to allow people to discover their restaurant, try it, hopefully like it and hopefully return. I can tell you that it will never happen. Although our server was very nice, I can tell you that our waters were never refilled. Luckily my husband didn't drink his water so I was able to have his. She was apologetic at times, but never did anything about it. Never told a manager - nothing got better as the evening progressed. Our party had never had such a long tiring, small portioned meal. If we paid full price it would have been $220.00!
We love Aragosta. Perfect location on a quieter part of Boston Harbor. The food, service and ambiance is wonderful. If Mother Nature allows, you can sit outside on the Harbor. You can even order a menu of fondue and REAL s'mores over a personal fire pit! This is a place we take friends and family, and one that we recommend to others as well.
We have dined here many times. Today was just awful. From menu selection, to wait staff to management to food. Something is surely amiss here and it shows. What the heck happened. I bussed our own table in order to remove the plates twenty minutes after we were done.
We got prefix menu with wine pairing, everything was very good, from the taste of food, presentation, service and wine selection. We will definnetly come back, and also try the prefix with wine in other restaurants. We recommend this restaurant and will take our friends next time with us.
The tasting counter and five course meal made in front of us was great. Good for romantic dates, quiet to begin with and then gets energetic as the dinner hour progresses.
Protip for aragosta: confirm your reservation in the morning. The way they book tables is inflexible, so if you don't confirm you can bet you won't be getting one of the outdoor firepits or a seat at the chefs tasting table (which are the distinct experiences of a dinner at aragosta)
Went into Aragosta for the 5-course Chef's counter tasting menu. My wife and I ordered different soups and salads, and the same pasta and entree courses. We have had very good experience with Aragosta in the past, and they did not disappoint on this occasion. The pricing on their wine list is rather high, but otherwise they are a good value.
A friend and I went to the restaurant using our Travel Zoo voucher we have bought, this came with 5 courses and each course pairing with a wine. We went on a night that usually isn't that busy (Wednesday) so we had more time to interact with the server and get more information about the wine and what we were eating. The staff was incredibly friendly and I would definitely come back here to dinner and/or drinks. I would love to come back during the summer when they have their deck open and have drinks on the waterfront.
On a thursday night we had very poor service. Dishes came out cold and we clearly returned reheated instead of giving a fresh portion. Water glasses were left unfilled. Waitress did not check in about the meal and how things were going. Some of the food was good, but with the bad service and temperature issues it was a less than enjoyable meal. As we waited for the final course we looked around at the other quiet tables where other couples were also experiencing abnormally long wait times for any acknowledgement at all.
There are many great restaurants - cheaper too - in Boston. Don't waste your time here.
This restaurant is phenomenal. The food is exceptional and the staff are so polite and professional. I came across this restaurant last summer and what an experience it was. I have continuously come back because of how classy and great the food is. The wine list is great also! I recommend this restaurant for a romantic date night or just a get together with friends. You will not be disappointed! Hope you enjoy Aragosta as much as I do!
A perfect combination to an amazing experience! We had the Chef's tasting 4 course dinner and every bit of it was almost perfect. Only issue, one of my dishes (veal cheek and oxtail bolognese) lacked flavor. However, all other dishes were absolutely incredible!
Must try: lobster bisque and risotto
A lovely finishing touch at the end when the chef came out to serve the beautiful assorted dessert plate. The personal interaction is always appreciated!
Highly recommend you try it for yourself!
I came here with my boyfriend to use a Gilt City voucher for the 4 course Chef's tasting menu for 2 (+ dessert to share and glass of wine each). I was able to make the booking with no delays or issues. The tasting menu is served at a chef's table (6 to 8 people at a time). The waitress was attentive with drink orders, the chef's were great (were keen to explain each dish and happy to answer questions in spite of being quite busy!). Each course was even better than the previous (I had Lobster Bisque, Insalata, Lobster Gnocchi, Scallops then we shared the dessert sampler) I would absolutely recommend dining here (restaurant was busy/lively and it's not a place for a quiet chat). We will certainly be back!
What a gem! I went here for brunch on Valentines Day and could not have been more pleased. The hotel is right on the water, and while not all views are water views, you can still get up and see the boats or walk around the lobby or pier outside. The restaurant was quiet but not empty and our waitress was great. We both ordered classic brunch menu items (I got the goat cheese and mushroom omelet and my boyfriend got the blueberry pancakes with bacon). Classic menu items come with a free mimosa or bloody marry and they definitely don't skimp on the alcohol! We also got freshly squeezed juice and coffee (both delicious). As an added surprise our waitress brought us freshly baked scones with butter and jam. We had more than enough food and drinks for just the two of us! Service was prompt and the food was delicious. Melt in your mouth good.
The restaurant is definitely pricier than some places for brunch in Boston but the price is worth it. I would highly recommend it!
Saw this place in an article for best water views in Boston. This is not really true. No real water views except a few tables in the bar area. The view is of the coast guard, which I highly respect but isn't exactly what was expected when I arrived. Also, disappointing wine list. Much better places in Boston to dine. Staff was extremely nice though!
We visited with friends on NYD and had a delightful dinner. Good cocktail menu, good and very reasonable wine menu. 2 had pasta and enjoyed. My cioppono special was ok (not exceptional but good) and my wife found the duck a bit fatty. Overall it was very enjoyable and we would recommend it. High end compared to North End of Boston and food is probably better down the road, but you can get a reservation and there is less hustle and bustle.
