Aragosta Bar and Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The "chef's table" experience a few months ago was absolutely outstanding, and we were not disappointed with our follow up visit for Mother's Day brunch. Impeccible and charming service, excellent food and one of the best-kept-secrets in Boston waterfront dining. We'll be back.
Top notch in every sense, and a very professional and courteous staff who contacted me several times prior to my reservation to make sure that we were set with our plans. The meal was lovely, the atmosphere outstanding, wait staff extremely professional, but most of all, the entire group especially the Grandmother's for their Mother's Day brunch loved it. Recommended highly!
We went for Mother's Day Brunch. The Lobster in my Lobster Benedict and my husband's Lobster omlette was the whole tail, sweet and delicious! We were so pleased with the service and food we highly recommend. Our kids' waffles were also outstanding and were accompanied by the largest raspberries I've ever seen!
Came here with my office for a birthday celebration for one of our co-workers. I think we were the only people there and we had a nice table near the window and attentive service. It's a good place to have a business lunch - quiet, tables not too close together, etc.
This is one of Boston's hidden gems. The food is outstanding: the preparations are always original with fresh, local ingredients and delicious tasting. The service is wonderful as well and though the ambience is what you might expect in a hotel restaurant, the experience of dining there is anything but!
I wanted to be more impressed than I was. I took my mom here who was in from out of town as it looked like a fun little place with a good wine list and yummy apps. Thank goodness the hotel lobby had a live band and good vibe as we had to wait 45 minutes after our reservation time to even get seated. The service was friendly but I had to flag them over ever time we needed something and they didn't seem to pick up on empty wine glasses. We had an amazing tuna app which was the highlight of the meal but our pasta dishes were nothing like we expected and exceptionally heavy. I unfortunately don't think I'll be going back with too many other great restaurants in the city that pay a little more attention to you.
We had Easter brunch at Aragosta Bar and Bistro. It was great. The atmosphere was elegant. The only thing better than the food (which was superb) was the service and the people. Everyone greated you with a sincere smile and welcome and we (party of six) felt very special.
Our first time here and the food was awesome. I don't know if a lot of people know about this place or not, because it's hidden in a gorgeous hotel. It was really quiet for brunch, and maybe it was because it was Easter weekend. Either way, the service was impeccable, the food, very tasty and inventive, and it was nice and quiet. There was a sweet older couple next to us who were clearly on a date, and I think it was quiet enough for them. We'll be back!
We enjoyed our dining experience from the special cocktails, appetizers ( my baby beet salad was delicious!) and main courses (veal and lobster), but were too full for coffee and dessert. We were pleased with the service and the seating--a cozy table for 2.
We visited during restaurant week and made a girl's night out of it. Our food was absolutely incredible but our server really made it an enjoyable night. I can't remember his name but he had stitches under his nose and explained to us he was sorry for his appearance. One of the girls in our party had just gotten stitches in her chin so it was an interesting way we connected and we probbaly chatted with him up the whole night.
Maybe there's a reason why Aragosta was one of the few with a 7pm reservation left for the last night of Restaurant Week!
The menu was limited ( and i mean both menu's), particularly if your a vegetarian. A green salad and a bowl of spaghetti with tomato sauce was about the grand sum total of the choice you had! Even if you eat fish, several of the dishes used short rib stock????. My partner is not a vegetarian and even he was singularly unimpressed. The only redeeming part of the menu was desert, have their Tiramisu, you will not be disapointed, light and creamy, it went well with an Espresso!
Our waiter was charming, and really tried his best to 'sell' me on the menu! but, definitely will NOT be rushing back.
Terrific accommodations for our party of 6 - the curtained table area made us feel as though we had a private dining room. Waitstaff was attentive and adaptable. Loved the wine option with Restaurant Week menu. Will definately be back to enjoy the outdoor fire pits!
Went back to Aragosta for brunch (again!) and brought some out of town guests on our way to Logan Airport for their departure. The four of us ate the Surf and Turf (which is a strip steak and lobster scrambled eggs), the Coast Guard Omelet, stuffed crepes and the blueberry pancakes. Everyone was delighted with their meal and the out of town guests were incredibly impressed with the quality of the food, the local flare, and the beautiful view and high level of service we received. Our waiter was attentive and so considerate; he even reminded us of the flight my guests had to catch when we started to linger! What a lifesaver! ;) It is so quiet and pretty there, it's easy to get comfortable. Can't wait to go back again.
The sautee'd calimari salad sounded wonderful on the menu. The calimari was actually cold like it had been removed from a walk-in fridge. Tough and no flavor. I ordered the Lemon Sole over Sardinian cous cous. The fish had no flavor at all nor a hint of lemon or any discernible flavor. Like eating mushy white paper. The cous cous also lacked flavor. My friends had the wild mushroom lasagne and the veal. We were all starving so ate everything but there were no oohs and ahhs about how delicious the food was. I will go back in the spring to dine alfresco and give it another try. Beautiful room, nice ambiance and the lovely waitress, (young Irish woman)was top notch. She could be working at any 5 star restaurant. Impeccable service!!
The restaurant is very fancy and high quality. It was great customer service but our waitress could have been a bit nicer. We were having a hard time reading the menu because the courses were very weird written and described. I suggest looking at the menu online before going :) we also didn't have enough space for our food in the table and waitress kept on putting their backs towards our table while serving the table next to us. Overall it was a great experience. Enjoy!
Not worth a trip across town but if I was in the neighborhood...surprised that the staff was somewhat overwhelmed as the restaurant was not consistently full and everyone knew it was going to be Valentine's day. What really surprised me was the bar crowd when we left, more what one would find in a Fenway bar.
